  • we see this lady every year at Fairford and Southport what a machine she is well worth keeping this take off at Fairford we seen it was like watching a weepy film please keep up the good work to keep her flying

  • Awesome i was there that wet day what a take off kevin rumens

  • What a beautiful plane.

  • very nice video

  • very nice video

  • Now it looks even more British... when wet.

    But it looks slow!

Yes, but not slow enough to stay on the ground.

Oh, then it must be big.

    Yes.

Climbs like a fighter, and, damn!

  • Saw it at 7 years old fly over New York City in 1961.

  • Based in my home town "Offit AFB Omaha NE USA " through the 60's. Flew over my home, quite a sight.

  • That brought a lump to my throat!

  • no, that record is now held by the B52 during the Gulf War. USA to Iraq to UK if I recall correctly. However, they cheated and had forward positioned tankers.... :p For Black Buck the Vulcan and all the Victors (over a dozen of them!) all left from Ascension and transferred fuel forward between themselves as they went, ending up with one Victor left to refuel on the way back.

  • this plane kicks ass and i think it still holds the record for the longest ever bombing run 8.000 miles from the u.k to port stanley on the falklands. i bet the argis shit them selfs

  • The vulcan is truly amazing!! We saw it for the 2nd time yesterday at Leuchars and it really was a MUST see part of the show... everyone stopped to look up, silence fell over the crowd.... fab!

  • I've watched a couple of planestv videos and the editing in both is extremely frustrating. "Producing" a video doesn't mean you have to "produce" it every seven seconds or less. I got car sick with all those cuts and zooms.

  • Beautiful.

  • Wonderful takeoff. I was there!

Please Please Please Donate after viewing this video! Visit Vulcan to the sky today! This bomber must fly!

  • Thats the best take-off i've seen from XH558! If she can do that, then surely at some speed we could see a role? Would it be worth the risk? What risk? She could do it with ease!

  • A role? Like low tech, low stealth, long range bomber? Or maybe it could be used in the 'show of force' role against the Taliban... oh you mean ROLL! Worth the risk? Ha ha, er no.

  • Text VULCAN to 82055 to donate and keep the Vulcan in the air for next year! Texts cost £3.

  • Nice! But...at what cost? Is it worth TWO MILLION POUNDS ANNUALLY to fly it? Vulcan Operating Co told Lottery that airshow fees would pay all costs for sustained operations. Now, we're finding out that's not true. Sorry, guys, but TWO MILLION POUNDS ANNUALLY was never gonna come from airshow fees. A blind man couldda seen that before you started. I seem to recall the RAF retired it because, aside from being old, it was also EXPENSIVE TO OPERATE. VulcantotheHANGAR!

  • Worth it? Ofcourse it is. The majority of money which has been put into it is public money anyway, which would indicate quite clearly that the public want to see it fly. But i tell you what, just because you have a very obvious grudge against it with your rant and added CAPS we'll just retire it to a hangar, just for you, hows about that. All that hard work and all that investment, all the peope who have come from all over the world to see it again, lets forget them, and just focus on you.

  • lol! 2 million is nothing man.

  • Was it raining?

Amazing and something the BBMF should be helping to keep in the air!

It brought a lump to my throat and I found myself clapping and cheering as it took to the skies.

    MONEY WELL SPENT!

  • Anyone who was there to see this wont even remember the rain..... great day out!

  • watching the Vulcan fly on the saturday and sunday brought back so many happy memories of watching the Vulcan fly at the HMS daedalus Airshows back in the 80's when people talk about the vulcan effect, its real, when she throttled up it brought a lump to my throat.

  • @warhawk121

You must live near me then.

  • yup Gosport born and bred. miss that airshow. guess for my aviation fix i'll go to fairford again this year..:P

  • Went to Fairford in the 90's. That was an excellent airshow. Went there mainly for the aerobatic teams, Red Arrows, La Patrouille de France ect

  • i think i went to fairford back in 95-96 cant remember exactly and attended fairford this year. The vulcan brought back so many memories...:)

  • Saw her at Bournemouth last year. An emotional sight seeing her come in to perform.

  • i was there too got rather sunburnt got a pretty good photo(at least by my amatuer standards :P ) of 558 as they flew past the needles running in for her display..:) the noise she makes as she openned the throttles up sent a shiver down my spine..:)

  • i'm hopeing they get the funds to keep the old girl flying for the 2010 season..:)

  • i was right next to that at the point were it lifted. :D

  • That's the sort of roll rate we want to see at Fairford .....NICE

  • eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxlllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnttttttttttttttttt

  • to the guy who missed riat unlucky it was a great show and a great time when the vulcan and B52 went down the runway with eachother and this is from a kid going to see the red arrows at southport in a couple of weeks and the vulcans gonna be there yey :-)

  • cool there is a vulcan at the 8th Air Force Museum at Barksdale AFB

  • CHECK OUT that wingover! Hats off to Kev Rumens!

  • thought the pilot was going to take her all the way over there XD

  • Couldnt make RIAT this year :-(

    Spot on video! Excellent

  • i did not go is year ,, went last years for 5 days got a little bit wet

  • i was there :)

  • Wish it'd done that on saturday! .. oh well.. maybe see it again sometime.. Bill Perrins one of the crew is my neighbour! apparently he flew them in the falklands, also gets to fly a spitfire and trains pilots of virgin atlantic

  • So glad i was there to see this and the b52 fly over it

  • forgot to say.. MASSIVE thanks to planes tv. Glad you caught an epic moment for us to relive time and time again. Great day, great plane, sorry. EPIC plane!

  • Amazing!

  • i honestly thought he was going to roll it, i was stood there going nuts. Weather was terrible all day but it didnt matter soon as you heard it throttle up, nothing else mattered!

  • Why the hell didnt he takeoff like that on saturday

  • Different pilot - M\artin Withers on Saturday. Kevin Rumens first display as pilot on Sunday

  • AH thanx for that.

  • Now I realise I've given 5 stars to lots of mediocre clips. This one deserves 6 stars!

  • THAT's what I'm talking about !!! Quality camera work and really pleased you guys got this !

  • I never thought i'd see a Vulcan almost roll. Amazing show from TVOC as per usual

  • Now bring on the full roll lol

  • Absolutely the most amazing turn ever after take off. FANTASTIC

  • I was there!

The rain was crazy! ...In a good way :]

  • is it a strategic bomber?

  • Yes. They carried the UK's nuclear deterrant in the 1980s, before we were forced to give up droppable nuclear weapons under some treaty or other.

That's the last Vulcan that's still airworthy.

  • No, only a Nuclear deterrent in the 50's, 60's and early 70's.

  • So glad she is flying again..........now can we have a Lightning to keep her company please. :)
