what a guy, Ernie Banks. Gifted, athletic, great HR power, great attitude, enthusiastic, gentleman...... When the Cubs would play a doubleheader, he would say "lets play 3". Imagine how many HRs he could hit if he played in today's smaller parks, smaller strike zones, and steroids/HGN. They dont make em like this anymore

The very first time I saw Ernie play was at

Wrigley Field, and he hit 2 home runs that day, and it wasn't a double header!

@heycolslaw What year was that. I had the very same experience. My Dad and I talked to Ernie and Tony Taylor in the gangway leading to the field and my Dad asked Ernie to hit one out for us. He hit two.

Darrell Evans hit a Home Run every 21.7 At Bats in his MLB Career and 414 total. Great numbers, but "Mr. Cub" hit a Home Run every 18.4 At Bats and 512 total! Just was reading about great Home Run hitters!

@stickman8211 He turns 80 on Jan 31st... And Ernie will sign for anyone at just about anytime. I felt bad asking for an Autograph in my White Sox jersey but he signed with no problem and even joked about it! I may not be a Cubs fan but I am definately a fan of Mr. Cub!!! A True American HERO.
