Does this equipment-swapping trick to speed up item use only work if the items are on Gambits or something?

I've never tried the trick out but wondered how much difference it made since I uh, kind of refuse to use Gambits...

It speeds up everything. Even with no gambits. Im currently making a video of this trick and it will be uploaded soon. Cause I get a lot of questions why I equip/unequip in my videos. XD

But yeah.. even without gambits, it will work.
