2- It's pirated. You should expect some problems with it. Of course if you're stupid enough to download a pirate version instead of buying it like every other lawfull person, then I can't see you being smart enough to expect anything.

And, nothing is illegal, since a "patch" isn't illegal at all. There is actually nothing Server-Sided (which means, doesn't affect the server's database, (server = the Game itselfs)). The only person which has a small % of getting arrested is actually the guy that made the undead patch-PCE
