  • LOVE MAURICE JARRE!

  • Imádom!!!!!!!

  • This is a nice score and I´mma let you finish but I can´t believe this won the Best score award against Beverly Hills cops Axel F. Maybe if you´re really creepily into whale singing but otherwise?

  • it's very nice when i listen this music in early monring.

  • One of the greatest scores of the 1980s.

  • Very nice

  • the most sensitive movie track ever produced...every second of the track fits the movie spirit in the respective places, from magnificent to ambient spheres

  • this was really good.. ive seen the movie and didnt remeber this song.

  • What do we have Vangelis do thank for?

  • "You becareful among them English."

  • You can only hate this score if you've never been out here to the Amish Country. Outdated? Blends past and present, like the Amish. Jarre went beyone music, he brought out what he felt was inside of the characters, i.e., Lara's Theme, the ride to Varykino, and here the Amish "mystique".

  • I can visualize the wind blowing through the amber waves of grain as it did in the movie. The sound is so appropriate for this film.

  • Such a beautiful theme

  • 2:21 onwards does it for me. I love the hypnotic synth linear backwash. Some of the synth sounds are dated (the lead brass synth), but the more subtle ones (including the backwash) could have been produced today.

  • One of the main reasons why this movie is so great is because of this wonderful score. RIP, Mr. Maurice Jarre.

  • I hate synthesizers!!

  • @SIngli6 the synthesizer ruined rock and roll imo

  • @TheBrakedown

The synthesizer ruined the music industry.

  • @SIngli6 totally disagree. You don't think the Synth music for the movie "Blade Runner" enhanced that film?

  • @lndac02

No, it did not enhance 'Blade Runner'; though I never really liked that film to begin with.

  • @SIngli6 You don't like the Movie Blade Runner, Your Not that keen on synthesizers. May I ask why your on a Youtube channel listening to Maurice Jarre's Music? Do you like Mooching around Youtube commenting on all the things you don't like, Don't you think thats a Negative mentality?

  • @lndac02

I'm something of a "negative" person, Mr. 'Indac'. In fact, my general conduct in society has been explicated as proactively misanthropic. I, of course, object to such an outrageous appraisal. I, for one, consider myself ethereally misanthropic.

  • @SIngli6 Well it would seem in a few of your own sentences,I have managed to appraise you.I could add a awlful lot more, but what would be the point. Some people spend 3 score years & 10 on planet earth finding everything disagreeable. all music is art, to discount all music created with synthesizer is to box yourself into a musical corner and become a reactionary. I like all styles of music inclusive of synth. we have a lot to thank Walter/Wendy Carlos for,as we do Mozart, Bach,Vangelis etc

  • @lndac02

What do we have Vangelis to thank for?

  • @SIngli6 3 attempts at posting that comment? ....answer a question with a Question....what is the sum total of your contribution to humanity apart from your sneering cynicism? I know who I bet will be remembered in a hundred years between you and Vangelis

  • @lndac02

"3 attempts at posting that comment?"

My computer temporarily froze, actually. I'm not that egotistic.

  • You dont happen to have the other 7 tracks from this soundtrack do you ?

  • Maurice Jarre -a genius wiith scores from Lawrence of Arabia and Dr. Zhivago now part of folklore- created a truly American score for this splendid movie, which I consider Harrison Ford's finest achievement.

    Bravo Jarre

  • @ToughXArmy69

"A truly American score" - could that explain why it is so awful.

Note: I love this sublimely directed film, but I do hate it's score ever so much.

  • @SIngli6 You really need to rethink your comment on multiple levels.

    A) The music isn't that bad. Though a little dated now, it was quite modern at the time.

    B) Maurice Jarre was a french composer, so your little jab at American scores is unsubstantiated.

    C) The most prolific composers of film history have been Americans (John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Bernard Herrmann, Alfred Newman, Henry Mancini, etc.) just so you know.

Seriously, don't even load the video if you so hate the soundtrack!

  • @jg2904

I never stated that Jarre was an American. Also, my original comment concerned the condemnation of not ethnic, but rather American cultural traits. It was the opinion of ‘Army69’ that Jarre’s score emulated those traits (I confess to paraphrasing), and, as I think America has contributed little to the world of art (apart from film, I grant you), I regard American culture with contempt.

Note: I revere the works of Goldsmith and Herrmann, but consider Williams’ oeuvre to be repetitive.

  • @SIngli6 I was half expecting an argument to come from that reply of mine, but I'm afraid I must agree with most of what you said! Forgive my misinterpretation.

I've never seen Williams as a really progressive or chameleonic composer either, but one must admire his ability to create so many breathtaking melodies(I'm absolutely NOT talking about Star Wars and the regulars).

But aren't you forgetting all the countries that America saved by spreading our "freedom"? lol

  • @jg2904

I will grant you, Williams has composed some fine scores (JFK and Jaws, for instance).

  • Thanks for posting this song. The Soundtrack is out of print and I could not find it anywhere.

  • Very atmospheric. Sounds like a mixture of analogue and digital synthesizers. Probably composed on a Fairlight CMI or Synclavier. Love the continuous 'backwash' sound.

  • @Deepscore Most likely the Fairlight CMI, seeing that the composer's son, Jean-Michel, uses that particular synth in most of his works. Maybe the younger Jarre let his father "borrow" some of his equipment for use in this film, who knows?

  • I cannot possibly express what this music means to me, how does one get the heart to actually speak, its not going to be easy. I feel touched to my very being to my soul. It conjures up all that good mankind should be, instead of all the woe we have in this sad world. The mounting melody makes my hair stand up, i cant say whats in my mind at hearing this! Words wont do it! I've been an avid follower of Jarre's music for many years how does he do it? Every time I hear this i just cry with joy!

  • which instrument is this??

  • simply beautiful...........

  • Sounds like Inxs song ,Don't change

  • beautifull peter weir chooses great composers for his movies
