It almost beggars belief that Abba actually considered this song a "reject". Thankfuly Dana Winner discovered it and really does it justice. Beautiful !
@MarkPMus This is an ABBA song. It is NOT a version of POYWS. This was performed for a charity and ABBA was on their way into town to meet with the above gal as shown by security film at this concert
Dana Winner has a great voice and gives a lovely rendition of this great, great Abba song.
What on earth were ABBA thinking on deciding to "shelve" this gem? To think we may never have heard the track were it not for the 1995 Box Set !!! I consider this the best ever lead from Frida - the song was the perfect vehicle for showcasing her amazing vocal ability.
Went to see her last year in Gent. What a wonderful evening, met her after the show, She was suprised that I came over from England as she is not known over hear.
What, she is from Belgium??? I asked in another video where she is from and someone said Netherlands.. ? But she is famous in many countries in Central Europe right?
She's from Belgium and speaks Flamish (some people say she's dutch speaking, because it's almost the same language, lol!). And Dana seems to be famous in (south?)-Africa as well.
I had never heard of Dana Winner until I came across these videos by accident. Her arrangement of this, and Zwoele Zomer (Dutch version) are some of the best cover versions of ABBA. So good, in fact, that I've been on Proxis and bought the CD.
I love Benny's synths! But the orchestra on Dana's version sounds great indeed. In 1996 Dana had a small hit in Holland en Belgium with a Dutch version of "Put on your white sombrero". It was called "Zwoele zomer" and it had the same 'Mexican' arrangement.
Seems to work better than the Abba original due to the use of real trumpets, etc. Sounds very grand! Love it!!

Very nice performance of one ABBA's prettiest songs. Dana's no Frida, but she holds her own. I liked the dancers too.

it's amazing how much she looks like Ellen (Degeneres) at times lol

This is not a bad version of POYWS. Not obviously an ABBA song either, although I don't think its their best.

Very nice! Didn't think I'd like it as much as I like the ABBA version, but well done. Just so nice to see the song getting recognition! Thank you!

Ok, ok mais l'original (Frida-Abba) garde une qualité et une originalité de voix de loin supérieure...Abba...toujours imité et jamais égalé....

If you go to the Belgian site, PROXIS, and search for Dana Winner. You want 'The Plantinum Collection'. It is available from that site.

She sounds like Petula Clark. She needs to tour the US and do more recordings in English. She is special.

cool, I don't know this singer but the orchestration is great, it sounds more Mexican, I love it
renamouskouri 3 years ago
big ABBA fan but prefer the orchestration on Dana's version. more authentic - think Benny depended too much on his synths in the early 80's.
superduck1970 3 years ago
I agree! Like the orchestra on Dana's version very much.
