My Dad called himself an atheist, yet helped out at church functions to do good, and celebrated Christmas for friends and family.

when he learned of actively preaching atheism", he called himself "Nothing", instead of agnostic or doubter.
Atheism no longer meant lack of faith because it had become a religion.
he simply did not believe, had no interest or need to preach or prove it, but had to identify what he really was to the culture he lived in.
