Strewth! I didn't know he was still going. Mike Sweeney was on Pennine radio when we were at Bradford Uni 24 years ago, and I thought he was great. Then heard him on Piccadilly 1152 in 1989 (and he played my hit parade!). He's still got it.

I love listening to Rock Radio, especially Drive Time with Sweens and Dewsbury. It may not be some people's cup of tea, but for me personally it was great to find a station that I could leave on all day and know that it wasn't going to be wall to wall throwaway pop and had DJ's that I enjoyed listening to. Keep on sausage rollin', Sweensbury!

He's dead right, Radio in this country is limp. I dont work in the radio industry, but it sticks out like a sore  thumb when you tune in that all these stations are owned by a couple of big groups. They all sound the bleeding same day in day out. No new records, no jingles, forced laughter on the breakfast show, with the same old morning groupies blah blah. I dont blame the DJs, there are some very good people out there, it must be frustrating as hell when you cant spread your wings.

Great channel but I don't like the fact he calls it Rock and Roll! I've always associated the likes of Elvis, Buddy Holly etc as RnR but Rock is the heavy stuff which is what they play. Might be just me but please stop it Mike! :)

100% agree with Mike on this. Mike is one of the few presenters left in this country who actually care about the music they play. It's all about and nothing about the listeners anymore. By the way Mike I miss ypu on Gold and do not live in Mancs to listen daily on Rock Radio. Also I love 60s classics and At The Hop!! That rock n' roll still sounds good. Long may that show continue!

Dead right Mike is passionate about music ,have you seen him DJ-ing he is pogo-ing and dancing along all the time You do know even if you aren't in the area the station has live broadcasts 24/7 on the web they get phone ins from listeners from mainland europe and beyond on air. It was a long time coming ironically my wife is a yank and we used to listen to 106 The bone on internet radio before Mike and the gang hit the airways, What Time is it Sweeney? - Time to Rock and Roll !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
