  • Sublime!

  • Anybody got any of his wonderful Sonatas for Flute and Organ at all?

  • carlos seixas merecia ser mais conhecido no mundo

  • É raro encontrar o que quer que seja dos Carlos Seixas. Obrigado pelo clip! :)

  • Someone actually playing a Seixas piece? THANK YOU!!! I would love to hear more of these pieces. The composer has been overshadowed by the giant D. Scarlatti and to a lesser extent, A. Soler.

  • Exelente intepretação

  • it sounds a bit like domenico scarlatti... this is the first time I've heard of carlos seixas. really great though

  • Domenico Scarlatti and Carlos Seixas have met in Lisbon when Scarlatti lived here in Lisbon for 7 years. the story tells that the King asked Scarlatti to give Seixas lessons on harpsichord but Scarlatti refused telling the king that it was him who should take lessons ... I do not know if this is true or not but it is likely that they have influenced each other ...

  • Actually, upon further research into the subject, it was the king's son Dom Antonio who arranged for scarlatti to instruct Seixas, but Scarlatti refused telling Dom Antonio that it was He who should be getting lessons from Seixas ("he" as in Dom Antonio).

  • By the way just to complement on this story Carlos Seixas is along with Francisco António de Almeida one of the two most representative portuguese baroque composers. Unfortunatly most of his works were lost in the earthquake of 1755 nevertheless what has remained is enough to place him in the category of a true genious.

  • Yes, I do find it quite unfortunate that there aren't as many classical or baroque works from the Iberian peninsula, as pose to the many works from Italy or Germany.

  • Ralph Krikpatrick and Igor Kipnis are the best, bar none

  • One of my favorite Harpsichord Players is Richard Egarr. He has also a very beatiful Harpsichord, built by Titus Crijnen

  • very good harpsichord, impressive music

  • Well, probably the "closest" harpsichord to play portuguese music is not this instrument. Maybe an italian instrument with just one keyboard and two 8 foot stops. Anyway there are lots of CDs with this music, portuguese or from other country. Just go to any CD shop specialized in classical music and you will find it. I see that you are from belgium, so in belgium and holland you can find lots of good shops with this music.

  • Very nice sound and good play. Could you let me know where I can find CD's of harpsichord music played with those early flemish instruments?
