While I love this song it still makes me sad, I had the pleasure of meeting Cal Waymon when I was in the Air Force in 1968, they were perfoming at the Base In Ubon Thailand, Cal was the lead singer of this group and I was for L.A. so I knew who they were, but this was special because we talked a long time and I also knew Barry White whom I ran with in 1967, Anyway Cal and Barry both passed away in 2003. They were both good down to earth guys and my they rest in peace,

I heard this song on XM's Soul Street with Leigh Hamilton. It sounded terrific! Stacks up with anything in Chicago (Chess) soul or the stuff put out by labels like Loma, ATCO , Wand or even Brunswick. Beautiful work from an obscure (?Los Angeles?) group. Bravo to Flats23 for the pretty upload. Might have to track down this boxset on Amazon.
