  • How nice to see someone below the age of 70 being interested in these engines...

  • THIS IS AN INTERESTING HOT BULB ESKILTUNA ENGINE!

I LIKE HOW DID IT WORKS!

  • you are right , it's running the wrong direction all the time .

the oilpump works both directions , so it doesn't matter that much .

  • Is the engine running in the right direction? :)

Should be running clockwise (normally) when you look at it from the flywheel side.

But the engine "prefer" to start at the wrong direction due to the "pre ignition". I usually let it go so for some minutes before I change the direction (or better TRY to) :).

  • what an awesome engine that is. What applications would this motor be good for?

  • this engine was used in a ship .

this type of engine was used for numerous applications , like in small factory's , on farm tractors , and generator sets , etc .....

the main reason was the great reliability and they were easy to repair .

  • Bjorneborg, maybe is Finish Pori diesel, made in Finland west coast Pori city, which is Bjorneborg in swedish.

There was/is old boat motor factory.

    Finland is two language country.

    Pori-Bjorneborg

  • If its a 2 stroke and crank case scavanged how do you lubricate the cylinder bore and bearings?

  • the cilinder and bearings are lubricated by with a small oil pump .

the oil is in the little green tank (the one with the glass on it )

you can see the pump at 2:29 in the vid .

the main bearings , the piston and the cilinder all have a seperate line from the pump .

  • Very interesting:

So what is the oil type and consumption?

What is the bore, stroke and compression ratio of this engine?

  • the engine is designed for crude oil , irun it on diesel (gasoline )

    i don't exactly know the comp/ratio , i guess it's somewhere around 8:1

really low for a diesel , but it doesn"t need a higher compression because it's an hot bulb type engine .

it ignites with a hot bulb and not (like a normal diesel ) because of the higher temp caused by compression .

the cilindric volume is around 244 cui or 4 liter .

  • Is that a reed valve under those holes in the crackcase ?

  • yes that is a reed valve

behind the holes there is a thich piece of rubber wich works as a valve .

it's not originaly made this way , but once the cranckcase exploded and the pistonrod came through the original valve cover .

  • bolness of bolinder?

  • Is this a 2 stroke?

  • yes this a 2 stroke engine

  • HEy nice engine. What was the thing you see spinning at 2:36

  • that's the oil pump used for engine lubrication

  • this engine was fitted in an workboat .

the boat was used for making the typical wooden sidewalls on our rivers and canals (in holland)

i bought it from a man who had it for over 40 years (never running)

he saved the engine when the ship was scrapped.

  • Do you know what this was originally used for?
