I think he's not anymore, if I'm not mistaken he was banned in 1997 for being an asshole to the cast and not for the first time, but he appeared in the 25th Annyversary Show and he's made some cameos since.

Not a big Chevy Chase fan~ whenever I've seen him in interviews he's come off as an arrogant, pompous boar with a bloated ego.but the Nat'l Lampoon movies (Vacations...) were hysterical. He gets by when he has someone good to play off of, as he always has (Danny Ackroyd, SNL cast, Paul Simon, etc.) Anyone can "fall down."
