    You're confusing the chorale with settings of the chorale.

    This is simply a setting of the chorale is by Mendelssohn.

    Bach wrote several settings of this chorale, ranging from simple 4-part harmonizations to complex 4- and 6-part chorale preludes for organ that treat each line of the chorale as a fugue subject.
