My sisters husband was Ray Walter. I want to thank everyone that has been outreaching to us and the Rea families. Thank you for your kind thoughts, prayers, food, flowers, condolances... <3 RIP Ray you will be missed.
As a volunteer firefighter myself you hope when the pager goes off, that all go out and all come back. My heart goes out to the familys, friends and fellow brothers of these brave souls.

Hey treta may maybe you should have a little read of ALL the comments posted here in the past couple of days and Maybe it will make you rethink your attempts at humour.
RIP Ken and Ray! My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friend and the fire departments these men are from. A tragic reminder of the difficult decisions made everyday! Decisions those left behind will live with for the rest of their lives. The woman making the comments probably meant no harm but doesn't understand you need to protect exposures, and manpower as well as access becomes an issue, making direct attact difficult. Knowing brothers are trapped can be overwhelming!
I originally thought she was refering to the fireman spraying the side of the building, or Macs, but you may be right. Thank you for clearing up the "overshooting" action; I've always wondered about that myself.
A couple of comments. I watched this vid a few times now. It took me a few times to understand what the lady meant by wasting water. Let me explain what we do. By shooting water over a fire, it causes droplets to drop. Droplets spread out over a larger area, therefore maximizing the water. The lady was referring to the fact that it looked like we were wasting water by overshooting the flame.
My deepest sympathies to the 2 families in this tragedy, their loved ones lost their lives in defense of their community as a heroic volunteer. Their sacrifice shall not be forgotten. I also encourage anyone else that shot video, cell phone video, or stills of this event early on from different angles or perspectives to post them. They will be very useful in the O.F.M investigation, and this tragedy will provide valuable information to keep firefighters safe in the future around the world.
As a volunteer firefighter myself I would like to know what happened that caused the death of these two men. If you don't want to post it on here can you message me. Thank you. RIP boys
Who is the idiot saying "a waste of water", what do you think they use to put fires out!!! Go say the same thing to the Japanese as they try to stop the fires in the nuclear power plant; you should be ashamed for such a comment. Firefighters risk their lives for the safety of the people and the community, and sadly two lost their lives in the line of duty. God bless our Emergency Services Personnel. RIP to the two firefighters who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect their community.
In regards to "wasting water," take a look at the fire. With a fire that big, the hoses are mere squirt guns. All the firemen are doing here is keeping Macs from burning as well. That's all they can do in a situation like this.
In response to "Liking" a video: You don't neccesarily have to like the content of a video, but for it's documentary value. It truly sucks that this tragic event took place. My heart goes out, not only to the families and colleagues of the firefighters, but also to the store owner who lost their livelihood, and to the roof worker, if he was the cause. But, as far as this video is concerned, thumbs up for giving the rest of us a glimpse of what the firefighters were up against.
“Our volunteer firefighters take time away from their families to keep us safe. We rely on their selflessness, and today’s tragedy is a solemn reminder that we must never take their sacrifices for granted,” McGuinty. Finally I agree with something Dalton has said ( or had written for him ).
the men and women continue to press on, even after they have likely heard about the falling of two comrades, and the bystander is worried about the waste of water?
Some people need to realize that the men and women of their towns fire department are there to protect the lives of their neighbours, and two brothers paid the untimate sacrifice.
I am so sorry to find out that there were fatalities from this. My thoughts go out to the families and their fellow firemen. I hope no offense is taken with this video but I do have a much greater respect for all firefighters seeing first hand up close what they can get involved with.
