The idea that the ability for a cat to be trained gets extinguished after a certain age is pure bunk. It might take extra work, but as long as you're consistent with the reinforcement, they will learn.

OK SOOO........what if you say NO, spray with water, put hot sauce by their nose, grab by scruff, put cat away from you, and none of those work? My cat seems bipolar. He is very loving sometimes, and bites hard at other times. He is so strong that I could thrash my arm around while he is biting, and he will still be attached. I don't provoke him at all either.

@videogamekitty I'm sorry. Unfortunately, some cats are just like that. Try giving him his own space, or a "cat cave" as we call it at my house for him to retreat to. Put food near it and just let that be his space. This has worked well for my cat Pumpkin, who we rescued and thought for a very long time was bi-polar. Having his own little deep hiding spot lets him go and relax or hide from the world and come out when he's hungry or needs love.

@videogamekitty The most important thing about a cat cave is for you not to invade it too often, so he will think he is safe from everything, including people hands. My boyfriend and I have been cat-sitting for his brother's crazy cat, who loathes everyone except for her owners. The best idea is space. It could be a kennel with the door taken off or a table with a blanket over it. My cat prefers the space behind our scarf trunk.

@pixiehollow1956 @pixiehollow1956 When I can't find my kitty clippers I just use my people clippers, but you have to make sure you aren't cutting too far down on their claw and that you are making a vertical cut so that it goes with the claw. What usually works for me is sitting on a bed where you can sort of lay the cat on their back and hold on to them with your legs. This website has a really great image of where to cut.

@jadegirl3331 1) Is it a flushing problem or a drinking problem? Because cats drink out of the toilet because it's a fresh source of water, the only way to help this is to give them fresh water throughout the day or get one of those little cat water fountains. 2) Lol, cats will sleep where they will, but if you really want them to stop, try to keep it wet (not running, but just enough to not be comfy for sleeping) at all times if possible.

I have a 14 month old, male, neutered, orange tabby cat who chatters his teeth when he watches birds in trees. It's quite a site! It's like he's fantasizing eating a bird. His name is Moose and he bites a lot too. He's not as bad as he used to be with the biting. He is very affectionate but mostly on his own terms.

you just have to be firm and then sort of stop playing so that the cat knows he or she won't get attention if he or she uses claws/teeth.

though playing is good for growing kitties, maybe that can be redirected to a good cat teaser toy (I found great ones at my local walmart for cheap)
