  • Cool... best rock ballad ever and a true ode to L.A. Come on over, we could play Twister:)

  • Very nice Nat! Thank you. I remember when this some came out. I had just traded my '64 fender mustang for a sleeping bag and quit music out of frustration. I joined the army and didn't come back to music until 2007. I am now learning guitar and bass. Your channel is an inspiration. I will subscribe.

  • GREAT TUNE, & even CUTER Bass Player.. ;)

  • You can play in my band...any time!

  • You know, I've watched several videos and noticed you're great with the fretless and was wondering if you could play a Colin Moulding bassline (XTC). The song by XTC-Yacht Dance from the album English Settlement.

  • Pretty good, nice job :-)

  • Natalie, Nice work. <3

  • I've listened to "Boomtown" for years and try as I might, I cannot make out a bass line. I think what you've done is actually WRITE a bass line for this song! Sounds great, BTW!

  • @prospectus91 Thanks for the kind words prospectus but I assure you that I am indeed copying what is on the track - the bass sits quietly in the background in the original whereas the track you've just listened to has the bass levels exaggerated.

  • These guy are a bass band, excellent. Bought this album on cassette in 87'. Now I need the CD

  • smile.. .;) we still love you.. ;)

  • @kentkatchem Thanks gorgeous :-D

  • The full track is up on YT now, on dustland4 channel, the 5:45 version.. niice..

  • I cant get over how beautiful that guitar makes you look, good job .. :)

  • @jfoster2 That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said about me :-D

  • lookin good Nat.. get back in touch eh?

  • @Dropbear67 Drop! I have been remiss :-D

  • You got some really nice sounding fretless bass going on there! Dig it! I play in a band, we write all original stuff, but I really wanna cover this tune! the chorus has a HUGE feel to It!

  • @niteclydn The chorus is both uplifting and bittersweet :-D Much obliged to you for the kind words.

  • that was awesome..I used to drive around to this song and think what the heck..they are totally right ,no matter where you live.you nailed the bass parts!!!just write them down so these guys can learn it too lmao

  • @mudpuppy229 What a lovely comment MudPuppy. I'm much obliged. As for the writing down bit...nah...let 'em work it out for themselves :-D

  • Great song. Sounds Good

  • @Deafham Welcome!

  • @hitman357 Much obliged to you sir!

  • Awesome

  • @kennymelodica Cheers Kenny :-D

  • Hi

I know I am asking a lot but would it be possible for you to note the tabs and email them too me?

I really like D&D. The Boomtown disc just rocks.

    For example

    E 5 5 5 0 7

    A 7 4 6

    D 3

    G

The letters are the four strings and the numbers are the frets.

I just cracked Lou Reeds Walk on the Wild Side on the bass. Its pretty cool. Ill trade you Lou Reed for D&D. :)

  • Thank you everyone! Much too kind!

  • Can you send me the bass tabs to D&D Boomtown?

  • Sorry love...I worked it out by ear and haven't notated the tabs!

  • Great job rockin the bass on D&D Welcome to the Boomtown. This is such an obscure song that not to many people know about it. I also play bass can you send me the bass tabs to D&D Boomtown?

  • she rocks

  • sweet

  • great job on the bass. Good Job. YOU GO GIRL!

  • great vid!!!

  • I can never pick out the bass in a song,

so I liked your video alot - & this is one obscure great classic song too,

    I love it ! !

  • Wow! Good job! This one brings me back. Thanks.

  • Boomtown was an awesome album...post more tracks from it. Your bass was cute and sweet Natalie V.

    My cd is at home...^^.

Seriously, you are the only one on the net with a track...

    Rock on Natalie.

  • David and David may not love Bob as much as we...

  • Just met Bob. Hehe, good show. Need to introduce him to David and David. Cheers.

  • A double bass. Some day, some way, I'm going to play one. BoomTown would sound awsome on an upright, with electronics. Why not give it a try Nat, fun fun fun... Cheers.

  • im amazed at you'r skills, get a band together all ready!

  • Yeah I've had a break from band work for a bit...must put my ad back into Time Off.

  • I'm not sure what I love more.. this song... or this woman! ;)

  • Smooth talker!

  • I have this albumn on CD...but I have no idea how to convert the track to a video file and upload it....

  • Me neither babe.

  • Go get 'em Girl!!! :)

  • Thanks darlin'!

  • This whole album is amazing!

  • You bet.

  • listened to this song in Miami Beach in a mustang convertible on the top of a parking garage.

  • Cool memory!

  • sweet; a lefty.

  • Nah...just a lazy girl that hasn't bothered to flip back the image on her webcam!

  • Did Stu Hamm play the bass on that tune originally?

  • Methinks.

  • How has fate managed to keep us apart ? (just kidding) I love these songs ! How long have you been paying? & Are you self taught?

  • Hi Beatlesfan! I was trained as an orchestral double bass player and went to the Queensland Conservatrorium...it was easy to translate my double bass skills to fretless. Been playing since 1984.

  • I didnt know amy fischer knew how to play bass, that's awesome.I dont even like bass.

  • You reckon I look like Amy? hehehe...could be worse I s'pose!

  • When is someone going to post the song in its entirety. Its a great song

  • The record label pulls them down the minute they appear.

  • I was looking up this song and clicked on your vid, pretty cool, great old song, you're a lefty like me! LOL

  • Sorry dude. I ain't a left...still haven't flipped back my camera image!

  • I wish this went longer than 1:38, I'm really groovin' along and it cuts out..

Love that bass just on the edge of distorting.. hot.

  • Yeah sorry about that DOC. Have a pissy web-cam and that's about as big a file as I can upload. Compression and all!

  • You rock it!

  • Sweet thang!

  • It sucks there record label pulled that video off you tube, that was a bad move, you sound great sweetie.

  • Thanks babe! Yes I think the record label is a bit precious about this one ;-)

  • I'm one of the few who bought this Album when it came out. I've always loved this song and now I know why, it was the Bass and you now how to play it. Thank You.

  • i have the album.

its really good, one of the few things to come out of that time period worth having

  • I have it on vinyl too but must confess it was in the throw out pile at an FM rock station here in Brisbane. They converted all their vinyl to digital and decided to dump all these masterpieces. So glad nobody at the station wanted it but me!

  • And I thought I never hear that song again. Nice to know that someone still listens. Now where did I leave my P-base?

  • I will never tire of it.

  • An ARIA. Don't call it cheap, it works, and is teaching you to play. Valuable in and of itself. I taught myself to play, by ear, listening to Boom Town, as well as a couple of Clapton's and others. No formal training...yet,it will happen. You are doing good! Pratice at least an solid hour a day, and you will be amazed at how you'll improve. Keep it up! Thanks again for sharing your video. I'll never tire of it either. "All Alone In The Big City" was another great cut of theirs. Cheers. J...

  • Nah the Aria didn't teach me lovey...was trained as an orchestral double bass player in the 80s...very easy to translate those skills to the fretless.

  • i'm wearing some mistletoe just to be sure. i am going to be adding some new audio and video to my myspace soon.../mark lembo. get your party on!!!weeeeeeeeee!

  • You Bostonites are crazy it tells ya!

  • well i just moved to Boston but you are probably right about the crazy part.

  • Lijkt wel of jij rechts en links staat te bassen???

  • Only right handed. I flipped the camera image.

  • mooi basje ,prachtig geluid ,gewoon vet.

  • Those crazy Dutch boys! :-)

  • Natilie your great with this song, but will somebody put the 1986 video up on youtube!

  • Thanks Hoppy...I will eventually!

  • what a bad song well thats just my opinion

  • What can I say? 'Smack That'?

  • When is your next video Natalie?

I have been waiting with baited breath!

    ;-)

    Cheers,

    M

  • Sorry love! Been busy. Promise one as soon as I can.

  • Natalie, why not upload a new video of you.... playing bass for the whole song! Now that would be too sweet!

  • When I get a better video recorder I can do that Edog.

  • i hope you get something REALLY GOOOOOOD for Christmas:)

  • Oh so do I! Hope you get a smooch under the mistletoe.

  • Awesome song and great work on the bass. I remember when this song first came out. I miss the 80s.

  • A man of taste!

  • One of the greatest Albums i ever owned in Vinyl, the whole album was awesome if you ask me. Well done you rock :)

  • I rock? Coooool.....

  • Please post the original song

    hard to find

    pleaaaaseeee

  • I can upload that..sure babes!

  • Great bass playing Natalie! Boomtown, Swallowed by the Cracks and Being Alone Together were the best trax off the album.

  • Thanks mr Dawgie!...it is an gorgeous album.

  • 1986..... a year i remember so well. last days of my youth... Hope you do well at whatever you do.

  • Thanks for posting this, one of the most influential songs of my youth... :)

  • I had no idea so many people loved this song as much as I!

  • I have the 45 picture sleeve.Great song.What ever happened to them?

  • I wish I knew.

  • damn, not bad at all! now if we could just get the video back up like it was earlier this year and have yours and the original back to back! this song hit the top 40 charts on 11-15-86 staying on the charts for 3 weeks and peaking at #37! should have gone alot higher! dj's at the time should have given this more air time and it would have caught on with more people and gone higher on the charts!

  • So under-rated!

  • 'Boomtown' is one of my all time favourite songs! So mellow, I love it! This is what music should be! Love the bass work, keep it up!

  • My bad, circusdog. 86' was the year, & memory loss, "my realized fear" !

  • this song came out in the late 80's not the early 80's never the less it's a great song and good job on the bass there.

  • My memory fails again...hehehe

  • When I first heard this song in the early 80's, I was blown away ! I got the cd and fell in love with every single song on it. I can't think of a greater debut album from that era. Only 2 tracks got any airplay back then, "what a travesty" ! Other gems from the cd were unforgivably ignored. While watching an episode of DARK ANGEL one day, I was absolutely floored to hear "heroes" in the background ! Someone showed some love. This band deserved more recognition than it received. Investigate claim

  • It despairs me too!

  • That song has such a haunting killer bass line to it. I loved it the first time i heard it back in the days (1980s).

  • I agree completely! That bass line hooked me the first time I heard this song.

  • I love this particular section because the bass get this rising figure to play underneath that static guitar idea. Trippy.

  • I wish some one would post the orignal MTV video i think is very haunting as well The drunk Rocker babe staggering out of the limo was a trip. So L.A. in the 80s.

  • Oh MAN...it's funny having an audience you can't see! Thanks brothers.

  • Nice.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Real nice bass!

    Cheers, Natalie!

  • It's an ARIA...cheap and cheerful!

  • rock vixens rock my world!

  • Love ya baby!

  • I never heard this song before and I like it and I love your bass on it. Keep up the good work Natalie! You rock! Thank you for turning me on to a good new tune. (Well new to me)

    So you take requests?

How about "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat"? :)

  • Pork Pies?...yum!

  • 80's tunes are cool. I'm thinking about doing a Thompson Twins tune, but have to put it off until I finish this song for PaulBoylan... the vocals are killing me.

    As for a request... hmmmm...

Smokin' In The Boys Room by Motley Crue.

    KIDDING. Please don't!

    I'll get back with ya.

  • A man of taste.

  • This is really cool....do more 80's stuff, please. Maybe something from the Breakfast Club soundtrack?

  • Crawling in the ceiling perhaps Hawgs ;-)

  • Yes, but it'll only work if you also say the duck joke whilst playing it. Maybe, unlike John Bender, you can actually finish the damn joke.

  • ;-)
