This is my least favorite version of this variation that I have ever seen! The costume is horrible, the musicality is absent, and her movements go far beyond the realm of 'artistic flare' and detract from the variation. For example, the way she is leaning in the turns in the diagonal is not executed properly - there is a way to 'lean' but it comes from the arms and upper back, not from a literal leaning to the side of the body/spine, as she does here. This is why I like Vaganova...
I think so...most versions I've seen and the one done at my school's productions have a slight incline towards the side of the working leg but not quite as much as her...it's probably her artistic style that SHE added as opposed to it being so dramatic in the choreography
Love how she phrased it/danced it. I like this version of the choreography too, although I like the other version as well, not sure which one I prefer.
If I didn't know that she was cupid, I wouldn't be able to guess because of the costume, but I much prefer it to the usual toga.
I think alot of it is the innapropriate costume they chose. They need to stick with the tomboyish Greco-Roman style toga. Costumes are SO important to the mood and tone of ballet, and that tutu and bodice are just too heavy and too formal for that part.
In a real toga yes. The traditional costume for this dance is butt cheek short. Check out ABT's version from the 80s with Baryshnikov and Harvey. That's a great Cupido variation. Cojucaru's variation is nice too and has a good sample of that style of costume.
a variation means when a coreography, aria, piece for any instrument have the same spirit of the original vertion but thinked to the possibillities of the player. thea is the reason of a cupid of paris opera never be the same at cupid of kirov. same spirit(coreography)different complement(player9
my younger friend did this at grand prix this year.. obviously it was less advanced and it was also a different version, but it was a lot of fun for her to do. i love this version.

I love the choreography but why are the tutus to damn huge? All of them look odd because they're so gigantic.

Too stiff, no charm!

exactly, you need more natural charm and cuteness/sweetness like Cojocaru, Obratsova!
