  • Obviously the district didn't want another politician like Dick Armey and Sarah Palin.

This is obviously a mandate in favor of the far left Obama agenda. Obama swept elections yesterday and picked up TWO congressional seats!

This bodes poorly for the GOP in 2010 and 2012!

  • And what about WW2 got us out of the depression?

  • WW2 didn't get us out of the depression. We were in positive GDP growth prior to WW2.

  • What about WW2 got us out of the depression?

  • The Draft. Suddenly having a massive number of people called up out of jobs and the unemployment lines did wonders for curing the nation's unemployment.

  • You mean kind of like a huge public works project?

  • Traditional conservatives do not believe in gay marriage period. You are correct that Neo-Con's are willing to allow gay marriage but it has nothing to do with growing government. Neo-Cons believe in bigger governemnt and smaller state rights. Neo-Con is not the same as a Conservative at all. They are social liberals who spend like crazy with a few characteristics of conservatives. If you ask me, there are Conservatives, Liberals, and everything in between.

  • "but saying they are liberal because they voted for gay marriage?"

If you vote FOR gay marriage, socially, you are showing a liberal view. There is nothing conservative about gay marriage.

  • Gay marriage is an extremely conservative issue. Conservatives want a small government that doesn't interfere with people's freedoms. Isn't restricting citizens' marriage rights to enforce religious bigotry a policy of government oppression? Too bad the religious right has tainted the conservative movement.

  • Protecting religious freedom is not "bigotry". Marriage has been a religious institution far longer than it has been a government one. Just as MA gay marriage was quickly used to shut down Catholic adoption agencies because they wouldn't recognize the new state marriages.

You're free to do what you want in your bedroom, but not free to go around forcing religious people to acknowledge what they are against.

  • Restricting people's civil rights is religious freedom? What planet do you live on?

If the Catholic adoption agencies were practicing unlawful discrimination, then they should be shut down.

Since we have a secular government, marriage is only validated through the state.

Why do the religious have the privilege of limiting others' rights solely to enforce the reality-denying bubble they live in?

  • What rights? Marriage is not a "right", it isn't in the constitution so who gave this "right" and "whom" did they give it to? Freedom of Religion is a right and it is enshrined in the constitution. That includes the rights of Catholics to practice their religion and exclude people based on their belief system.

By the way I'm not Catholic and have no problem with being excluded by their agency if they deemed so. Because I'm not on some anti-Catholic agenda like you fake "Progressives" are.

  • What the hell is this Dick talking about it was bush who put forward the stimulus package and put us in this shithole in the 1st place and in order to get us out of this shithole obama has to stimilate the economy & how do you stimulate? you stimulate by spending money or in other words investing in it. These people want the government not to interfere n thats exactly what hoover did in the depression n guess what it didnt solve anything it made it worse it took FDR 4 terms to get us out of it.

  • "What the hell is this Dick talking about it was bush who put forward the stimulus package "

Get your facts right man. Obama and the Dems did the 787 Billion in spending/stimulus this February. Obama came in January.

Get educated before you spout false info.

"it took FDR 4 terms to get us out of it"

--You mean he kept up there for the longest depression ever? Hoover didn't do nothing he did bad stuff like close free trade.

  • What I wanna know is why the flags are hung backwards. The stars should always be in the top left, whether it be hanging vertically or horizontally.

Either way -- I still support Hoffman

  • Good luck Doug Hoffman, the only conservative in the race. If I lived in New York I'd vote for you. For the record, those flags are improperly displayed.

  • I just read this candidates website and it said

"My opponents are a liberal Republican who voted for gay marriage (twice) and was endorsed by ACORN. And a Nancy Pelosi Democrat. "

I can agree with him on the ACORN issue and the being endorsed by a Pelosi liberal, but saying they are liberal because they voted for gay marriage?

As a libertarian(keep gov't out of my wallet and out of my bedroom) there is no reason for me support this neo-con in a conservatives clothing(or the other candidates)

  • You have no idea what a conservative is. Stopping government from getting more involved in determining who can be married is both traditional and neo-conservative issue.

Do you know what Neo-Con even means?

  • Fiscal conservatism is about less government involvement. Social conservatism often involves more government involvement to protect tradition and have societal standards. Therefore, most conservatives are against gay marriage. However, I would say that being for gay marriage doesn't disqualify one from being a conservative.

  • Go Doug, Take back America

  • Vote for any one who is not Republican or Democrat. Doug fits that description. We need politicians who will honor their oath to protect the Constitution.

  • Go Doug!!!
