Continuing this theme, please enjoy the posted video, "40 years in 3 minutes", which revisits the Beatles' GET BACK and GLASS ONION via historical landmarks and even some local 8mm footage of the time.
That does it. Abbey Road may well be the most imitated album cover of all time. Initially it was suggested that the record be named Everest after a pack of cigarrettes, and that the band fly to the Himalayas and have a shot taken at the foot of Mt. Everest. One of the Beatles said, 'Look, I can't be bother to schlep all the way to the Himalayas for a photo, why don't we go outside the street, have the picture taken there, call it Abbey Road, and get it over with?' The rest is history.
The Beatles do and will always exist because of their music and worldwide influence my friend. Long after you are gone and buried people will be showing up at places like this to celebrate their legacy.
It's not a 'pedestrian crosswalk', it's called a 'zebra crossing' in England and I have visited many many times when in NW8 which includes actually working at EMI Studios as a freelancer. Please don't lecture me about something which is in MY home town and thousands of miles from the redneck town you live in. There isn't anything to 'get' and if you're going to spout about The Beatles it's called a ZEBRA CROSSING in the UK. The GOOF is all yours my friend!
Oh dear I think we've seen plenty of your bitter twisted little world, the fact that you've posted soo many times means you must have an abnormal amount of spare time on your hands or must have made yourself incredibly unpopular in some way. People tend to shy away from the completely toxic things in life... l o l You seem to have a problem with other people having a good time, that doesn't of course preclude a fun day out at a zebra crossing of course....Yawn!
I am very excited about the thought of the Muslims taking over the U.K. and bowing down to their outdated customs. I have come to realize that like the Muslim, I too hate women and I cannot wait for one of them to violate me.

You take yourself far too seriously and you made it your mission to rip on this video and the people who posted their comments here. If you don't like it then fine but no one really cares and you wanted them to care so badly.
You came across as an ass and I would suspect that it is because you really are one in person.
Did you get all upset because somebody criticised your favourite band? What a shame. Still, nice to see you're taking a bit of comment so well. Ha ha ha ha....
Thanks for posting this. You've made one very old Lennon impersonator very happy. We were asked to do the photo shoot, and had no idea of the level of interest. I've tried to explain what the scene was like, but your footage of the press, says it all. I was trying to get the photo session completed as soon as possible to get the traffic moving, but as you saw, events took over. A very memorable 15 minutes of fame. Thanks again-
"reggietheperrin " sorry that you feel you do. I understand yr point of view. but c'est la vie! if you live ina a place like Abbey Road, Dakota House, Chelsea Hotel, Salford you just used to it. And: my you tube channel isn't a *** blog - if you like, create yr own. I block you, sorry
I work nearby, and the presence of people around the studio is odd indeed. What defines a typical tourist seems to be the right to turn up and act exactly the way you would never do at home. This video looks like the aftermath of a white street riot, the noise is just unbearable. The Beatles don't exist any longer, move on.
John Lennon's home in NY was 'The Dakota' not 'Dakota House'.
Well "dutchgoing", I'm afraid you're wrong - The Beatles DO exist and they will... longer than we both are able to imagine. Long live white riots! Viva noise!
They split in 1970 and two of them are stone dead, therefore the band doesn't exist any longer, something that had an ending; the people in this clip need to take up a hobby or something.
It would have been nice had they asked for the unofficial consent of the people who live there and shown a little respect for the local residents. I actually like the Beatles but I wouldn't dream of turning up on your doorstep like this without at least consulting local people first. Typical tourists think only of their fun day out. Did you go and hang out outside Maccas house after this? Bet you did. That's creepy.
Thank you for posting! We are in the video and are grateful to now have a video record of our participation.
Further to Mr Perrin, I will 'connect' with the music in any way I see fit. It is foolish to assume to understand my personal justification. EMI were there too, cavorting about in the street, and they couldn't possibly understand the level of talent, right?
Participation in nothing much at all, something that looks really moronic. Acts like The Beatles don't require your or my approbation. As a local resident I've never got used to people hanging around in the street outside the studio, it looks obsessive and today they all turned up at once. The fact that some of the EMI staff took part doesn't mean anything, the Beatles would have sounded the same at any studio and were landed with something as backward as this place.
Only in England could people find an outing to a pedestrian crossing interesting. Beatles fans really could do with a reality check. It's great that young people like this music, shows good taste, but those who were into it first time around should have moved on a bit since then, got into other things in the last 50 years.
Why move on? The Beatles are still the greatest there has ever been. So why not go there and have a bit of free fun crossing the street and taking pictures at the same place the best did?
With respect, making a visit to a pedestrian crossing in another country is warped, I can understand people in the UK being strange enough to do something as dull as this, but you do see tourists doing it too. There has been talk in the local press about doing away with the crossing because it has become a traffic hazard.
sorry you don't get it but they will will still show up to cross and take pictures it's a special place for us and we couldn't care less what those non fans think.
'Us' ? Do you claim to speak for a group of people? Sounds like some kind of cult you've got going there. Look, two of them are dead and people have made great music which post-dates this band. Time to widen your horizons a bit maybe? Just a suggestion. A pilgrimage to a street crossing in North London is the dullest thing I've ever heard of. There is no tourist museum there and you won't get access to the studio. Boring.
well since I'm here yes I do. To us it's not morbid not silly it is a place of great importance. You don't get it to bad we on the other hand do. Yes there is lots og great music since they broke up but none as good that's a fact but I do like many others but nothing really worth anything has come out since the late 70's bands I mean. Most of what is produced now says is pure shit.
You see some rather tragic looking people in this clip. One woman has an LP of the Abbey Road album which she is holding out in front of her as though this is some kind act of benediction taking place. The really fake high-strung laughter and the continual jabber when nothing at all interesting is happening is really scary. No wonder none of the band actually turned up to join in, you see they've moved on and so should you.
in fact i was giving a serious thought about spending a week-end over there, the leading goal being that zebra, so no i`m not gonna move on..thanks for the advice but i still hope i`m gonna go there one day. no morbid feeling at all!
Stop pretending to be superior and giving a no-brain event like this intellectual credentials, that's really being an ass and deluded into the bargain. Visiting a pedestrian crossing 40 years to the minute after a quick photo shoot which resulted in one of least creative album covers ever is symptomatic of obsessive behaviour. You're very quick to write off anything post 1980, that's a symptom of middle age I suppose......
It's a symptom of good taste in music. It's obviously an event that is over your head. I'm sure there is atleast one thing you think is cool but others think is stupid. I suspect you'll do the same as us and ignore the lame ass.
It's a symptom of being an obsessive. The taste in music may be very good, but pretending that it is defintive is adding an air of superior understanding that stinks to be honest.
I understand English fine. When you say time to move on you mean they were good but they're gone so time to forget them and embrace the new. FUCK THAT!! The new sucks is what I keep telling you. I and many millions more prefer the old because we believe the new sucks. You don't get it tough shit no one asked you if it was ok or not. You can't see why we would go to that crossing again to bad we do and we aren't asking for your approval. You don't like it don't go, don't the video and shut up.
You are a sad, abusive person who can't argue in a rational fashion without personalising. I went to see the crossing when I was 15 years old, if I was that enthralled by it now I'd consider it a fixation. Saying over and over again that 'I don't get it' convinces me that you are of restricted intelligence, restricted tastes and more interested in belonging to a clique. Yes I 'got it' years ago. Working in the studio was more interesting than hanging about outside anyway.
You are very condescending and I tried being civil but you're ignorance just sent me over the line . No you don't get it if you did you wouldn't be such a Dick.
Please don't claim that you were ever being civil, that's a total joke. Nobody sent you over the line except you. I didn't even criticise your taste in music. Turning pop music into a pseudo religious cult is however not a good idea. Do you recall all that fuss about Curt Cobain, not good. I 'got it' as you put it way back in the 1980s. If my interest in a traffic crossing had continued all these years, I'd say it was sad indeed.
get a life dude. You get your kicks out of pissing in other peoples cereal? There is absolutely nothing wrong with going to the crossing. If you don't want to then DON'T. Being an asshole about it is stupid.
I think you've been the one who has been aggressive about this from the start, I was merely critical of one thing. Think carefully before using the words 'asshole' and 'stupid' where more rational people are debating. You need to see the film 'All You Need is Cash', produced by George Harrison, a send-up of the utterly pompous Beatle mythos which you've been brainwashed by. If HE could send up the band TOTALLY then YOU haven't got the RIGHT to act like your little RELIGION has been insulted.
After going back and reading all the posts I think in the least asshole and stupid describe you and your attitude perfectly. My only mistake fas been to continue responding to your lame ass posts. Ok everyone gets it here you think it's stupid fine you move on no one gives a rats ass what you think anyway.
Oh and on the subject of having a life, I've got one thanks, which doesn't include pedestrian crossings as a holiday destination. Yes I 'get' why people were there, but it looked like a pilgrimage at a shrine, a symptom of religion.
In Renaissance it is a shrine and again you don't get it or you wouldn't act like such an asshole about it. Going there means everything as much to Beatles fans as going to Graceland does to Elvis fans
Look you're obviously still in school to judge by your pathetic grasp of the real meanings of words. I 'got it' over 20 years before you were even born, in country you've never even been to and in my home town to boot. Nobody forced you to reply and the only highly aggressive and abusive arsehole to date has been you. If you have to make a shrine out of street crossing, that's really really sad in my opinion. Gracelands became a shrine AFTER Elvis died btw. Shrines are for DEAD people.
Part of my having a life already thanks for asking involves doing far more interesting things than having a fun day out at a pedestrian crossing with a lot of middle-aged people.
still dumber than dirt are you. Damn you are just one ignorant fuck. Asshole once again if you don't want to then don't but those that do couldn't give a rats ass what your lame ass opinion on the subject is.
Just a lot of abuse because you like dishing out abuse for it's own sake, not got a lot to do with music has it. Seems you're allowed to express your opinion as you wish but nobody else gets a point of view do they? You are a bigot.
Well that's proof that you must really loathe yourself. Your one-track point of view, resticted vocabulary and constant resort to shouting other people down shows it.
Don't delude yourself into thinking you're some kind of spokesman. If you feel so strongly about it you should have been there shouldn't you? Air travel is cheap. I'd be quite happy to show you the REAL London, no joke. Ok you don't care about my opinion, let's call it quits, I just found the vid rather annoying that's all.
Opps restricted I meant. Anyway it's people like you who have confirmed my dislike of the Beatles anyway. I used to be something of a fan but I wouldn't be seen at a public gathering like this if my life depended on it. You sound like an American from somewhere where they grow potatoes a lot. Am I right?
dutchgoing..with the final regal glory of Abbey Road, the Beatles left their grieving fans a legacy that will never be matched, so what`s so wrong in enjoying a tribute to that? your attitude is tragic and embarrassing. again, if it`s too much for u, just don`t watch it, it`s eaaaasy.
It's not even one of their best albums, John Lennon said that it 'had no life in it'. They were even going to call the album 'Everest' because their engineer smoked a brand called that. The Abbey Road album cover was a very simple idea, completed on the fly. Don't turn commercial pop music into an unhealthy belief system is all I'm saying. There is also no such thing as something that is definitively the best of anything, simply doesn't happen.
I also find it very funny the way you get riled so easily when anybody attacks any aspect of the Beatles mythology, but that's how people in a religion tend to react, so tragic. I'm quite glad it's over my head as you so arrogantly put it.
I have a low tolerance for ignorance I admit that. You still haven't said just what you consider good. I'm thinking it's some 80's or 90's shit lots of lame speed metal lovers just can't comprehend great music and prefer that utter garbage to real music. If I'm wrong I apologize, but something tells me I'm right.
Your 'low tolerance for ignorance' is just another pretentious way of being pompous and shouting others down. I like the Beatles and they were my first introduction to pop back in the early 1980s. I didn't bring up the subject of the relative worth of music in the 80s and 90s, you did and in a very defensive way when nobody was even criticising your musical taste. Telling me that I can't 'comprehend great music' is also a symptom of arrogance and INABILITY TO READ ENGLISH. (see previous posts).
I happen to like the Beatles but they stopped operating as a creative unit nearly 40 years ago. If you want to connect to what they did, listen to the music, don't cavort about in the street as though you really understand the level of talent and creativity involved. I just see a lot of people turning up to be part of something and not having to think for a while. Just the noise they make is maddening!
This event just looks pointless, sad and empty, got nothing to do with music or creativity or ideas or anything you have to apply thought to. As usual the empty-headed and the media (same thing) latch onto the superficial bit they can understand and churn it over and over again. The same media machine was and is of course the most conservative and hostile critic of anything the happens to be good and doesn't and didn't need hyping over and over because it's already good.
Continuing this theme, please enjoy the posted video, "40 years in 3 minutes", which revisits the Beatles' GET BACK and GLASS ONION via historical landmarks and even some local 8mm footage of the time.

The other day I baked a loaf of bread! Why wont someone praise my efforts?
Why cant the world celebrate the marginally talent among us so that I can fell as special as me mum said that I am?
I ordered some French trousers on the Internet the other day and I breathlessly await their arrival.
Fancy French knickers and a bottle of wine. Oh my!

Turning pop music into a pseudo religious cult is however not a good idea. Do you recall all that fuss about Curt Cobain, not good. I 'got it' as you put it way back in the 1980s. If my interest in a traffic crossing had continued all these years, I'd say it was sad indeed.
dutchgoing 2 years ago
get a life dude. You get your kicks out of pissing in other peoples cereal? There is absolutely nothing wrong with going to the crossing. If you don't want to then DON'T. Being an asshole about it is stupid.
gettyman1 2 years ago

Yes I 'get' why people were there, but it looked like a pilgrimage at a shrine, a symptom of religion.
dutchgoing 2 years ago
In Renaissance it is a shrine and again you don't get it or you wouldn't act like such an asshole about it. Going there means everything as much to Beatles fans as going to Graceland does to Elvis fans
gettyman1 2 years ago
Look you're obviously still in school to judge by your pathetic grasp of the real meanings of words. I 'got it' over 20 years before you were even born, in country you've never even been to and in my home town to boot. Nobody forced you to reply and the only highly aggressive and abusive arsehole to date has been you. If you have to make a shrine out of street crossing, that's really really sad in my opinion. Gracelands became a shrine AFTER Elvis died btw. Shrines are for DEAD people.
dutchgoing 2 years ago
Part of my having a life already thanks for asking involves doing far more interesting things than having a fun day out at a pedestrian crossing with a lot of middle-aged people.
dutchgoing 2 years ago
still dumber than dirt are you. Damn you are just one ignorant fuck. Asshole once again if you don't want to then don't but those that do couldn't give a rats ass what your lame ass opinion on the subject is.
gettyman1 2 years ago
Just a lot of abuse because you like dishing out abuse for it's own sake, not got a lot to do with music has it. Seems you're allowed to express your opinion as you wish but nobody else gets a point of view do they? You are a bigot.
dutchgoing 2 years ago
no I just have a low tolerance for ignorance.
gettyman1 2 years ago
Well that's proof that you must really loathe yourself. Your one-track point of view, resticted vocabulary and constant resort to shouting other people down shows it.
dutchgoing 2 years ago
like I said no one gives a rats ass about your opinion on the subject
gettyman1 2 years ago
Don't delude yourself into thinking you're some kind of spokesman. If you feel so strongly about it you should have been there shouldn't you? Air travel is cheap. I'd be quite happy to show you the REAL London, no joke. Ok you don't care about my opinion, let's call it quits, I just found the vid rather annoying that's all.
dutchgoing 2 years ago
do you think anyone there cares if you think it's stupid? I seriously doubt it.
gettyman1 2 years ago
Opps restricted I meant. Anyway it's people like you who have confirmed my dislike of the Beatles anyway. I used to be something of a fan but I wouldn't be seen at a public gathering like this if my life depended on it. You sound like an American from somewhere where they grow potatoes a lot. Am I right?
dutchgoing 2 years ago
dutchgoing..with the final regal glory of Abbey Road, the Beatles left their grieving fans a legacy that will never be matched, so what`s so wrong in enjoying a tribute to that? your attitude is tragic and embarrassing. again, if it`s too much for u, just don`t watch it, it`s eaaaasy.
madalinamargineanu 2 years ago
It's not even one of their best albums, John Lennon said that it 'had no life in it'. They were even going to call the album 'Everest' because their engineer smoked a brand called that. The Abbey Road album cover was a very simple idea, completed on the fly. Don't turn commercial pop music into an unhealthy belief system is all I'm saying. There is also no such thing as something that is definitively the best of anything, simply doesn't happen.
dutchgoing 2 years ago
Wrong as usual they are the best that's just a fact.
gettyman1 2 years ago
pff why don`t u just let it be.
madalinamargineanu 2 years ago
I also find it very funny the way you get riled so easily when anybody attacks any aspect of the Beatles mythology, but that's how people in a religion tend to react, so tragic. I'm quite glad it's over my head as you so arrogantly put it.
dutchgoing 2 years ago
I have a low tolerance for ignorance I admit that. You still haven't said just what you consider good. I'm thinking it's some 80's or 90's shit lots of lame speed metal lovers just can't comprehend great music and prefer that utter garbage to real music. If I'm wrong I apologize, but something tells me I'm right.
gettyman3 2 years ago
Your 'low tolerance for ignorance' is just another pretentious way of being pompous and shouting others down. I like the Beatles and they were my first introduction to pop back in the early 1980s. I didn't bring up the subject of the relative worth of music in the 80s and 90s, you did and in a very defensive way when nobody was even criticising your musical taste. Telling me that I can't 'comprehend great music' is also a symptom of arrogance and INABILITY TO READ ENGLISH. (see previous posts).
dutchgoing 2 years ago
I happen to like the Beatles but they stopped operating as a creative unit nearly 40 years ago. If you want to connect to what they did, listen to the music, don't cavort about in the street as though you really understand the level of talent and creativity involved. I just see a lot of people turning up to be part of something and not having to think for a while. Just the noise they make is maddening!
reggietheperrin 2 years ago
This event just looks pointless, sad and empty, got nothing to do with music or creativity or ideas or anything you have to apply thought to. As usual the empty-headed and the media (same thing) latch onto the superficial bit they can understand and churn it over and over again. The same media machine was and is of course the most conservative and hostile critic of anything the happens to be good and doesn't and didn't need hyping over and over because it's already good.
