  • F U N !

  • Love the Beach Boy's cover of the song better! This is really tinny.!!!

  • oir esta cancion es retroceder en el tiempo, es ir a 1956, es estar en esos dias que no volveran, esas si son canciones, no como las de ahora que solo son ruido ...

  • Thinking of buying one of these in a real nice cabinet, but right now the record player is not working properly. Not spinning and when spinning by hand no sound. Radio works fine. Any idea on this vague description what is wrong?

  • @crushingalldeceivers The needle (shell) inside is damaged by age! you must change it !! good luck!

  • @radiogram56 Thanks for quick reply... so that would make the platter not spin when turned on as well? Thanks

  • @crushingalldeceivers Maybe the speed is set on "0", maybe the rubber wheel is hard, broken... maybe the motor needs oil.

  • @radiogram56 Where would you go to get a shell for one of these, I haven't dealt with a machine this old before only from the 60's upwards.

  • @IdontneedanIpod need to have it rebuilt by VM Audio The cart is part of the headshell and can't be replaced

unless you are good with a dremal tool and gut the headshell

  • @crushingalldeceivers My aunt has one of these with the same problem.

  • @IdontneedanIpod Interesting, well if she finds out what is wrong, let me know. I ended up buying it. I took it apart and everything looks fine. When I lift the arm, it starts to hum and I can feel a vibration, but still will not work at all.

  • Wonderful. Heart-warming. :)

  • to the guy who said a new amplifier compared to the ones of the old times was poor quality..Well, that depends, my friend. There's good and bad quality amps with every generation. I would personally take the sound of old tube amps over modern ones. I even like the sound of the marantz units from the 80s and those can be gotten cheap if you look around. Plug you a technics 1200 into the phono input, get a top grade cartridge like an Ortofon and man...you'll be blown away by the sound..trust me

  • Vinyl , compared to an Mp3..there's no comparing the two..Mp3 is a lossy format designed for sending files over the net..it will never compare with the fidelity of vinyl. Most times stereo mp3s sound like crap. I will take the pops and clicks anyday.

(bring back vinyl to the stores and i'll actually buy music again)

  • lol they have bought vinyl back, i bought invaders must die on vinyl the other day

  • Ahh Invaders must die.the new Prodigy album..cool. I did know that vinyl had made a comeback somewhat already, but i was really referring to vinyl coming back on a large scale like cd is now..i should've been more clear. I hope that it comes back on a larger scale and with decent prices cuz i feel $20-25 for an average single lp vinyl is a bit much....the boxsets of the various veteran rockers albums are outrageous..$200??i don't like pearl jam, to site an example, that much, not $200 worth.

  • it has made a comeback massively, HMV stock loads of vinyl and the virgin megastore in paris that i bought invaders must die in last week on holiday has Loads and Loads of new artists on vinyl

  • obviously a major difference in what is available in a major media center like Paris, London, Amsterdam, and what's available in the average middle america/southern town..i'm lucky to have a store that carries more than 15-20 new titles on vinyl per month..and few that are to mine or my crowd's tastes. I had things a bit better when Tower Records was still open in Atlanta tho. (closed in 2006) Nowadays it's the rare thrift store cheapie oldie , order online, or just simply download it.

  • ohh your in americax

  • I totally agree with you!

  • Great video! I have a 1958 Phillips Bi ampli radiogram with the same record player made in Holland! They really sound great!!! Thanks for posting!

  • The sound is not as bad as most of these vintage record player videos. There is a bit of a bacon and sausage fry up going on at the beginning though!

  • It's a nice video to the world!. My 4 year's old son loved the "new" classic machine from the 50'ties !

  • Kewl

  • Reminds me of the Beach Boys!!

  • I used to flip through my 45's by glimpsing at the lable! Never read the titles, knew them by lable. CD doesn't have that "luxury"...Laurie records was "Ferry cross the Mersy" by Gery and the Pacemakers! I still have a copy!

  • sounds much better than CDs. More musical, warmer and brighter.

  • yeap they do.. but.. the amplifier of those times.. were bad quality comparing to todays amplifier.. so a vinyl record player with new amps.. will sound better :)

  • don't be silly

you're giving vinyl lovers a bad name

i regularly use vinyl and i can tell you this is not CD quality or better.

  • Nice song. If you can't fall asleep, listen to it!

  • The square on the label is the Laurie Records logo. The cool artwork on record labels as well as on record covers was one of the things we lost when cds came in.

  • Oh wow just listen to that vintage sound. Magically takes me back to a time long before I was born! ;) I love records and record players!!!

  • WTF is this square on the disc ?

  • A reflection over the surface, some of the stars glued on the wall...

  • this is the best song ever!!!

  • I had this same exact changer in a console Grundig some years back. wish I still had it...sigh.....

  • OK...is this the original version? Or is there one before this that the Beach Boys based their version on?

  • It is before the Beach Boys version.

  • What I asked is was this the version that they based their arrangement on,or was there another version of this same song?

  • Yes, this is the original and the one they based their arrangement.

  • Do you come from Spain? I'm from Germany! You've already posted many terrific songs here. Thanks a lot! We enjoy them very much.

  • Love that tune. When I was a child we had a Philips 1958 model. It was two tone green.

  • Although I finally figured out how to post my rare Pat Hervey "Tears of Misery" song on YouTube, I wouldn't mind seeing it posted using your radiogram if you had a vinyl version...Something festive about that thing...

  • thank you for this video i really enjoyed this song!

  • you should play some 70's, 80's and 90's music on the thing. it would be awesome!

  • Will do!!

  • Hi this is truly amazing, do you have the Kalin Twins, singing "WHEN" if so please post, i would be eternally grateful. Many thanks indeed !

  • Another top 10 ever classic. Nothing like the original recording!

  • Thank you!! I have a lot of more 40's and 50's hits on the original record (45 and 78 rpm). Will do more videos.

  • many thanks indeed, I can now play the kalin twins whenever I like. How about the single of Dusty springfield I only want to be with you? or any female solo 60's artists. Many thanks from Clive.

  • Nothing here of Dusty. But some female vocal. Must look for it.

  • ok not too worry, do love watching your autochange player, its playing hush a bye at the moment. any Sandie Shaw?

  • Yes, Sandie Shaw sings in Spanish, from 1967. London and Those were the days (both in Spanish)

  • That is an awesome changer!! I have 3 record players myself. One of them is a Hi-Fi from the 50's. You have inspired me to break out the video camera and get busy with the records! Let's hear more!!!

  • Do you know where I woulld be able to by one of these players? I been looking on ebay but no luck. Is there a certain keyword i should be searching for?

  • use "45 rpm record player" for a search citeria - or try "rca victor 45 rpm record player." These things restored can bring a hefty price - I bought one this morning for $75.00 - if you'd like a photo, shoot me your email and I'll send a photo. . .take care!

  • i ended up buying a columbia record player from 1954, it only plays single records rather then the one in the video. Having parts replaced at the moment as it didnt work when i got it off ebay.

  • I Have the Reeldeck from that series!! Wanna trade??

  • What do you mean?

  • Nice your Philips changer!!

  • This is such fun. Please if you have more 45's lets have more

  • I have posted more 45's. An homage to Danny Cedrone and others.

  • what is the name of this song? is it "hush-a-by"

  • On the record label says Hushabye

  • sweet!

  • Is that a Philips changer?

  • Yes it is a Philips changer.
