  • i cut roofs with a big foot i could cut 4 rafters on 1 time

  • chainsaws are the only job for roofing

  • @plavery99 Ive seen someone line up a whole side of a buildings rafters and cut the plumb cut and birds mouths with a chainsaw...what a laugh

  • Where do you find the best prices for lumber and furniture grade wood....??? What should I stay away from and what should I lean toward. Some of the cabinets for the Pantry do ot need to be of same high quality...so I am keeping my eye open...

Any imput is so very appreciated??? I must admit to being a HD rat most of the time.

  • Starqmade1,

Why don't you come by forum where it's easier to address your questions ;-)

  • I just have this feeling ... yes there is a good way to build a cabinet...but maybe is a better way...??? Or at least a different way???

I know there must be new tools...techniques since 1974!!!

I see all the cabinets made the same...only the face styles and hinges seem to change/improve?

Love your saw by the way... What is it? ...my birthday is coming up soon.

  • I do so hate T&G construction. Can I B join the sides plywood/solid stock (front facing) to form the box sides??

If so any suggestions. How do I keep the front frame from racking, stable and secure for the drawers/doors???

Will it be enough ..maybe if I cross support the boxes on the back panel?

All but the island cabinet will be suported by hind as well as side walls.

  • There will be no upper cabinets at all since the kitchen is 2 full walls of windows, and one wall of 10'Wx8'H Fireplace. So weight is not an issue. So I am stuck with one wall that has no need for counter space and far too much storage potential to not build cabinets. It would be a crime, not to mention ugly to stare at as I drink my coffee in the morning.

How do I build these with plywood and still create a furniture stock front frame look? Do I have to build full wood sides on my boxes?

  • However I do need to have all four sides of the front face exactly the same width, wood and so on. I will be using Lap joinery on the cabinet frame and B joinery on the door/drawers. The storage wall will look much like the tiles of "And the Survey..... Says??? show back in the 80s.....forgot what it was called.

Most of the Cabinets will be drawer style for the kitchen and Pantry on a full wall along the Kitchen (12'Wx8'Hx 12"-18"D)

  • If there is a way to do away with knobs and handles in this project.... I am sure to find it. Self closing a must ofcourse. Having numb wrists when I am done anyway will make it well worth the extra expense.

I would prefer to build a Door in Frame Type cabinet, you know the type..found in old farmhouses in the 1800s or the Amish overpriced tourist shops.

  • Hello Joe. I grew up with the Euro Style Cabinets...love the look.. hate the veneer front , stability long term and so on. I am in a bit of a Architectural "know how" crossroads, keeping with the Prairie/Craftsman and still have a modern feel on the inside. The plain and simple is ... better...
