  • Those of you that are interested in what Todd is saying might like to watch the documentary, or read the book, Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond

  • @Abu7929

Jared Diamond was one of the major influences for this part of my book ... but it was based on the precursor for "Guns, Germs, & Steel": Diamond's essay called "Accidental Conquerors" (from a collection of essays by Diamond in his book "The Third Chimp").

  • Thanks to agriculture, we have enough food that not everyone needs to work. Some people can work enhancing society, by creating new medicines for example. But a lot of jobs (i should perhaps wait until i see all your videos before commenting like this) don't seem to add much to the society. We don't need to work once we have a machine that can do farming for us thouh. we send so much time in work we might as well get ID from it.

Can't wait to see what the third wave is, only heard of two.

Even if producing twinkies and SpongeBob toys don't "add" to society, they still provide the function of work: they produce goods that are others are willing to trade with (for whatever reason!).
