The best way to play extended is to upgrade to silver membership. (Bronze is free to everyone) With silver membership (a one time fee of $20/not monthly) you unlock everything(including the level cap increase) except the extra characters and a few bank slots. And then you can just buy the characters you want if you decide to get into it. A few words of warning though if you play this game for more than a week you WILL upgrade to silver or higher. Its a dam good game.

Corpse running, Xp loss+ a Grind = a big NO!

I am going to predict that Rift will pass EQ for subs before the year is up. EQ isn't casual enough. I do respect how dedicated it's fan base is though. I played Vanguard during a WOW break for 3 months. Although I have never played EQ VG does share some elements from what I have been told. The 3 things I listed above will probably keep me Playing WOW. Until something comes out that's more challenging with no XP loss mechanics. Punishes Exploration.

Well when Blizz first released WoW, it was great til they screwed it up with expansions and stupid addons. I use to play EQ2 for awhile and got tired of it and wasting money on it. Now they made it free but still have to pay for those race/classes i like. Guess i dont get any credits for buying all those games, expansions from them as well all that monthly fees. I dont know, the PvP seem to be way out of wrack or unbalance in the game, unless they correct few things.

@mikey420100 it depends you can get silver for a one time fee of 10 bucks or per month is basically 20 bucks and then there is a platinum for over 100 bucks but it pays for a full year everything unlocked and you get 500 station cash per month for a year.

@Raikusxox I agree I played both games and I enjoyed EQ2 more but I had to stick with wow because all my friends play wow.I noticed wow copied a lot of stuff from EQ2 (EQ2 was released before wow and everything wow has EQ had first).To answer your question it's simply because better advertising and warcraft world overall is much more popular than eq.It's also much more simple and easier so it's made more for causal players so anyone can play it though that doesn't mean that wow is better game.

Check out 5:55 "At later levels you need to get your corpse"?!?!?! Since when? LOL!!! Not only do paying customers get more classes and races to choose from. You get to hold more than 5gold per level, 6 bags not 2, master & expert spells, and non treasured gear. TGNGAMES WoW is that way ------------>

If SoE wants to make some money out this game they need to add a PvP Extended Server.

I played this when it came out because I was playing EQ1 at the time. I wanna start up a new F2P account, but it won't let me register because it says I'm too young?... I'm over the age limit but it won't let me register why? I don't remember my old Station account either.

@drankkkkkk Two main differences (other than free): (1) the marketplace on the free-to-play server lets you buy stat-based items, like weapons, while the pay-to-play server only sells cosmetic items and (2) the free-to-play server needs a one-time fee to unlock some of the advanced classes while the pay-to-play gives you all classes as part of the monthly fee. @Sabruui1 Your character is on a pay-to-play server and is still there! The new free-to-play servers are called EverQuest 2 Extended, and you can transfer your character to them, but you cannot go back from a free-to-play server to a pay-to-play server (EQ2 did not want players who buy their gear to rejoin players who earned their gear).

I downloaded the Extended version, but it wont let me log in, play or anything. All it does is show me a small screen that says Everquest 2 Extended, and nothing else., no buttons, log ins, or progress bars. What am I supposed to do? I've looked everywhere for answers, but no one seems to know anything.

@stargazntreki EQ2 free-to-play has a cash shop that lets you buy your gear. This is the same type of equipment as in the normal EQ2. But the best "fabled" gear is still only available from end-game boss encounters.

@satainkara There wasn't anything important said during setup, don't worry about skipping it :) For me, the only time I couldn't connect to the login server was when I used a proxy to connect to the Internet. After connecting directly, the game worked perfectly!

@RedDotsable I also had an issue when I was using a proxy server. As soon as I connected directly to the Internet, the game worked perfectly! I suggest trying the same, RedDotsable.
