@polert143 it's not. It's a JTCC group A 4A-GE 20V Toyota Racing Development (TRD) engine. Dunno who subbed this as Suzuki but he was damn wrong. It's a racing version of the 4A-GE 20V blacktop made by TRD.

@arbpotatoes Formula Atlantic never used 20v engines, they use 16v engines.
The 20v gives a good torque curve throughout the entire rev band and so doesnt rev as high with as much power as a blood tuned 16v. The reason for this is that when Toyota decided to copy the Ford BDA design (And had Yamaha redesign the head, thus ended up with the first generation 4A-GE) The belief was that a higher valve inlet angle gave more power, pickup was slow at low revs but went nuts at high rev ranges however.
And when they made the 20v, they learned that a smaller valve inlet angle (With the 16v having 50 degrees) gave smoother torque and response range at lower revs, and so made the inlet angle degrees less than they did the 16v generation/series.
Also, a race tuned AE86 head (With say TRD/HKS cam gears in the 300 degrees range) and the works, on a AE92 kouki block with only Toda pistons and rebalanced crank and rods plus bearings and shims, seals, etc, can go over 200hp at 9000 rpm with pump gas..
@ToreDL87 4AGE, the G stands for wide valve angle? when you mean high valve angle, you mean that the valves are angled far apart from each other or are more upright?

@arbpotatoes Assuming the G stood for wide valve angle, it would have been removed in the latter AE101/AE111 series which doesnt have wide valve angle.

@arbpotatoes Owh and, not sure what country or car, but if youre in USA, a bluetop makes around 112 HP, if you switch to EDM/JDM bluetop ECU and wiring and sensors, you get 124 HP, 4-1`s can give you anything up to 10 HP, but lets be realistic and understate to 4 HP, the 256 cams, assuming you change to corresponding cams and injectors, and the engine is in good condition, fuel pump, oil pump, etc, not sure how much, 150 +-? A lot of fun on tight courses, assuming the job is done right :)
in australia, it's a KE70 with smallport, fuel pump is a 6cyl turbo replacement part so plenty of flow there. great thing about these cars is that you don't need massive power to have fun :)
Actually, if a car engine is not better than the other one, the same level players can easily defeat the bad cars even the player is better than them!!
@FearCarlos but of course, the 86 has a lot of disadvantages to bring with it, counting the power as a major one. That's nice, 171mph on the drag, but I bet it's a swapped out engine.
@JPTorres2694 yeah,it is a different engine.I think it was 2jz judging how it sound.have seen the swap online.that's why I say the possibilities with an ae86 are endless.

thats right tak's new moter is from a TRD rally racing group they explain that in the 3rd stage when he rematchs koigi you wouldnt be able to use a stock moter that revs that high would blow the moter
The t.v. episodes are way better and more detailed. As I watched this, I noticed that they've added some stuff and cut out some stuff. If you can watch the t.v. episodes, I think that they're way better.
lol if u were a smart person that motor takumi has isnt a red top 4a-ge. thats a silver top 20 valve. those are onli found in the later model truenos/levins. they do tuning to that. the redline is reallie at 10k rpms. 11k u would bury the motor. kilowolf is right about the TRD racing. N2 and TRD make their 86' rev up to that high.
its easy but prep the whole thing make it bulletproof like a 2JZ it would make a perfect all rounder especially with the 50/50 weight disturbition of the AE 86

well Keisuke's "trick" to get the inside was similar to what Takumi did to the GTR 32 on first stage.
And that race made Keisuke seem alot better that Takumi by having such a easy time with The EVO 4

the AE86 is a good car if u got the money to tune it to its full potencial.
in a drag track I saw one do 171mph(for reals ppl)
the ae86 can be used for every type of racing sport like drifting and more.

9k is the limit in STOCK form 10k is heavy modded and 11k is super high tuning which would need new block and 10000bucks of other stuff
