Interesting. I've never heard this sung by a tenor before. And I've never heard Rosvaenge sing anything but Wagner! So this is part of those Wolf Society recordings made by Walter Legge?
@FiDiTanzer528 rosvaeng did not often sing wagner just parsifla in bayreuth few times.. he was known in italian roles.. which he sang in german as ist was usual in these times..
Well Legge was a fan of Hugo Wolf and produced many Wolf recordings. He chose Rosvaenge for this one because of Rosvaenge's talent for the declamatory style. Rosvaenge became very influential for later singers in this respect.
