Thanks for putting this mix together. Ron was always one of my favorite players. I feel he should be considered a legend for what he did with the Cavs, Clips, Bulls, & Lakers (it wasn't just Shaq and Kobe who won those early championships).
24 pts, 11 rebs, 2 block 3 steal at Miami-Ohio College? Thats ridicoulus. On the Cavs and in college he played like Jordan, then he sacrificed and became an all time great champion.
@fazman52 yea my unkle told me before his knee injury ron was dunkin on everybody he was like the injury changede his game from a slasher to more of a shooter ...he said if it want for that knee he would easly been one of the best gurads ever....my unkle frend played against ron in college so he showed me some of the film he was really great...but still had a solid career though despite the injury
I don't remember which reporter asked the question, but it was brilliant. When Danny Ferry was hired as the Cavaliers GM, a reporter asked the question... If you were the GM then, would you make the trade with the Clipper to send Ron Harper to them for you? After a hearty laugh, I remembered he waffled on answering that question. Even he knew it was a piss poor draft, one that I hated then, and hate now!!! Ron Harper was the one player in the Cavs roster who played with a sense of flair.
At 3:40...it's got to be one of the best bloopers ever! Both of them are lookin at Ronnie at their feet bump into each other and WHAM! both of them go down! lol!
Harper was awesome in college. Led the MAC in scoring and rebounding his senior year. Has 2nd most points all time in MAC Tournament history. Back when Miami was the Redskins.
great stuff!!!! thanks for the video of the miami stuff and cavs too: pre knee injury. the true greatness of harp came through after he couldn't jump anymore, though he might have gone on to a hall of fame career if he had been healthy (but would he have won 5 rings?) again, great stuff! thanks so much for the memories....
I Remember when they would used to Compare Ron Harper to Jordan when he 1st came in the League..while he never lived up to that Hype he was still a Dam Good Player..Respect!
Harper was a poor man's Jordan when he was with the Cav's before the injuries. By the time the Bulls got him, I guess he was still a poor man's Wizard-era Jordan.
I agree with you. When Harper was with the Bulls he was no longer that explosive going to the basket because of his injuries. But he was a big factor & a big help in the Bulls' defense and perimeter shooting.
A great tribute to Ronnie Harp. I am one of his biggest fans and I love when I see other hoops fan comeout and show love to him too. He was one of the classiest, savviest, and exciting players to ever play in the NBA. I could go on and on about how much I admire him as a player and as a human being, but everyone who watched and appreciated this video already know who Ron Harper is. Give this guy a coaching job!
Yes he was. He had a helluva lot better rookie year than Chuck Person. ROBBED. But hey, that was a microcosm of the rest of his career as far as individual accomplishments. Never voted as an all-star, never in the spotlight...but who cares...he has 5 rings...thats better than a million all-stars and 0 rings.
nice vid... Harper steals the ball from Sir Charles and posterized Dr. J with his acrobatic circus shot... wow cool story... go Harper... there will never ever be another Ron Harper again...
Jordan, Pippen, Harper, Kukoc, Kerr = The greatest combination of guards and small forwards ever assembled on one team. They had average big men with the exception of Rodman. (Yea yea I know they had Grant, well I mean the second 3-peat.) Every one of these guys were the best or second best in the league or history of the league at something. And these guys were big for their positions, with the exception of Kerr. I think Harper is the greatest to never make an all-start team.
The youngins don't really understand how good Harper was in his prime. He was like Jordan's little brother. People call Harold Miner baby Jordan, Harper was the real baby Jordan. That's a reason why Cleveland beat the Bulls all 6 games in the regular season in 89 but Jordan still hit "THE SHOT". That was the last time I bet against the Bulls. How the hell did Chicago beat them?
Thanks for putting this mix together. Ron was always one of my favorite players. I feel he should be considered a legend for what he did with the Cavs, Clips, Bulls, & Lakers (it wasn't just Shaq and Kobe who won those early championships).

Yeah, but the person who created this video intentionally avoided any highlights with Harper as a Bull. I wonder why...

Before his knee injuries, Ron Harper could flat out BALL! Harper, even after the injuries, was a terrific lock down defender. One of my favorites!

That move at 2:51 was sick! The song sounds like it's Maxwell, but I'm not familiar with that song.

For Jordan and Harper to sit down with Pippen, Kukoc and Kerr still on the floor to replace them, now that really terrorized the league.
