You know, up until now I never knew that the Concorde used in this film was the same Air France Concorde that crashed in 2000. For years, when I watched this film, I believed the filmmakers had a custom-built Concorde just for the film. Seeing this clip now - a forewarning of what was to come 21 years later?
As somebody pointed out, the aircraft used in this film, F-BTSC is sadly the same Concorde which crashed after take-off in July 2000; 21 years later. Great film for Concorde lovers like myself. Thanks for posting.
I have so much respect for all these 'Airport 'movies which my folks brought me to watch in cinema back in 70's (except Airport 70 & The Concorde). The visual effects were crude but they were best to watch as far as movie making technology could go during that decade. I still have no complaints.
what i would really like to see now is modern ultralight aircraft made affordable to all made from cheap materials which can fly long distances. we can designairplanes that fit the pilot like a glove including a parachute if need be for safe bail out. i want to see airplanes become as common as the family car and as cheap. we could even install refueling fuel stations over the atlantic at specific waypoint routes for increased route flexibility. we have the technolgy so use it

I saw Airport 79 and I didn't think it was that great. I liked Airport 75 better. I enjoyed 75 better than all the other airplane disaster films because it had more action and suspense in it. I also admire Karen Black for bravely playing the part of the reluctant flight attendant who was forced to fly the plane and making sure the rest of the people on board was okay. The best part is when she figures out how to fly the plane by herself after losing contact with the air traffic.
I agree with everything you said. Out of all of the films in the series. '75 is the pearl in the oyster. The series started to degrade after that. if only because they didn't want to put the money into the films....when you go cheap...you get cheap.
@darkstarkc99 You remember what happened to that plane last Febrary when the pilot Chesley Sullenberger landed the plane he was operating after it stalled into the Hudson River and at the same time all the passengers on board managed to escaped alive, don't you? I'm sure you heard about that incident. Chesley Sullenberger, "Sully" is known as a hero. This was not a movie either, this was 150% pure real life. "Sully" is one awesome pilot! That is what you call a miracle!
Sure, I remember that. It wa all over the news. :)) He just retired a week or so ago I believe. Super Experienced would be the words I would use. we need more pilots like him. Yes! a true hero.
@darkstarkc99 He's retiring only from flying commercial planes, he's still going to fly, but only private jets. He also retired because he wants to do some kind of advocacy work for the rest of the pilots because the airline companies have been very unethical to them. At least that's what I was told and trhe way I understand it.
@darkstarkc99 I saw Airport 77 with Jack lemmon. That one was alright, but it was kind of slow. I can't judge or voice my opinion about the very first airplane disaster story. "Airport" because I never saw it. Thanks for being on the same page as me.
Yes! unfortunately it was, It was difficult to make a trailer exciting for this film. but I did my best...LOL....And I agree...... I too have seen worse disaster flicks..
Thanks.......It's not one of the better films in the series...but still might be worth a view...at the least, you can say you've seen them all..LOL.. Redwire,Bluewire....that's the name of the song,by immediate music.
I think most of them...It's been such a long since I've made them I can't really remember what I used...Immediate music,Two steps from hell, and X-ray dog,are the real pro's when it comes to trailer music....all of their stuff rocks
Yeah, I know for a fact that Immediate Music's music was used in the Dante's Peak trailer and Jurassic Park 3 trailer. So yeah, they rock. I ain't heard nothin from those other two tho. I'll have to check them out.
I thought this 1 was the weakest of the 4 films, but I do still like it. Best thing about it ...the Concorde. Lucky 'nuff to have rode her before it's dawn. Greatest plane ever built. Choice trailer DS. THX:)
I'll agree with you there....kinda wish they would have put a bit more effort into making it...but I did't put up the cash so I guess you get what you get...LOL.....WOW you got to fly on the concord?...Hell Dude! Your part of history now!...good for you.
The saddest thing is that this gorgeous plane was pulled because it was not profitable. It's deadly accident: A plot to finally get rid of the Concorde? Anyway, a plane can't fly horizontally, not at that speed, you can't just hold your hand out of a sliding window at that speed and fire a flair gun and you can't outmanouver a heat seeking missile. Lot's of fun anyway and why all the passengers get back onto the plane again (seemingly made of cardboard) is anybodys guess. HAHA!!
"Anyway, a plane can't fly horizontally, not at that speed, ...."
How do you suppose Concorde flew from London to new York? Vertically? Youtube is a repository for some of the dumbest comments ever generated by mankind.
Concorde was profitable. BA made up to £50 million profit every year. It was pulled because AF never made much money and were doing very badly at that time. Airbus who supported it were getting tired of ti as they wanted to focus on things like the a380.
BA wanted to go on, but Airbus decided to not let them.
Showing us how inept the French are and how aggressive people on YT are. It was NEVER profitable! It was purely a prestige object. BA could have gone on with a more limited fleet alone....
No. BA made over £750 Million profit from Concorde over it's 27 years of operation. It's fact. Don't even try and deny it.
I never said the French were inept. Over 75% of Concorde's market was business related, with the rest left to leisure and celebrities. BA attracted the business as Britain, London specifically attracts much more business than Paris. It wasn't down to the airline but just what markets the countries attract.
Fine. I wil not deny it, whatever....It's not like this is the Kennedy assassination. This film however is horrid, so bad it's FUN! Rigth or need I deny that too?
I love this Love Boat of the sky but it's absolute nonesense from a technological standpoint. Truly laughable YET I love this film. Charo and Jimmy Walker!!!!???

Hi Darkstar, your vid is amazing as always! I do not know the film but I love your trailer! It makes me wanna see the picure. It's gripping, perfectly edited and has this special taste of drama.... Much better than an "official" trailer! Keep them going, I'm a big fan of your work!!!
thank you so much lunamo..comming from you(one of my friends)This means alot..I do have another trailer for airport 77 if your interested. these films were part of a series of disaster films I like to refer to as "the airport series"..and your right trailers back then focused in on the stars that played in the film while i focus in on the story and the action...and who dosn't like action eh?..thanks again
Great job on your video. My opinion then and now is that Airport 75 was the best of the series because it had very little blue screen cheesy visuals. Airport 77 was ok but 79 was a true disappointment. Nice job on the vid. The tribute you made of 75 actually made me see the movie again. I have no desire to see 79. LOL
Thank you for your kind comment,I agree airport 79 was a bit cheesy. They could have done alot better but I'm sure it had something to do with money..anyway,I wanted to make the tribute trailers for all of them.
Well done. I liked "Airport 79." I would love to see a version minus the comedic stuff. Funny I met Robert Wagner last week. He signed a copy of his autobiography for me.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Thanks jan..That's funny..I warn you though, you might be better off not seeing the movie..It makes this vid look like a blockbuster. As so many people commented,It wasn't one of the best in the series. I made this vid because I'm a diehard fan of the entire "airport" series. The thing is, It's not a bad storyling, maybe a bit far fetched, but the graphics(after the first 3 films films)are "LACKING!"(to put it nicely). Thanks as always jan.

Ha! Ha!
