  • You know, up until now I never knew that the Concorde used in this film was the same Air France Concorde that crashed in 2000. For years, when I watched this film, I believed the filmmakers had a custom-built Concorde just for the film. Seeing this clip now - a forewarning of what was to come 21 years later?

  • This is my new favorite shitty movie of the 70's. Came out the same year as Airplane! and in some scenes is actually unintentionally funnier.

  • AIRPORT 79. Or if you like (considering the majority of the cast in the film) HOLLYWOOD SQUARES...UP IN THE AIR...ON A REALLY FAST PLANE!

  • An amazin' film with a true lady of the skies in it. love this tribute!

  • @MColeProductions Thank you :))

  • Great shots of the beautiful concorde !

  • As somebody pointed out, the aircraft used in this film, F-BTSC is sadly the same Concorde which crashed after take-off in July 2000; 21 years later. Great film for Concorde lovers like myself. Thanks for posting.

  • @shulman2 Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it :)

  • @shulman2 yes was shocked as i saw this. Thats why I made a compilation with all the concorde clips of that film.

  • thats an amazing oldies goldies

  • I have so much respect for all these 'Airport 'movies which my folks brought me to watch in cinema back in 70's (except Airport 70 & The Concorde). The visual effects were crude but they were best to watch as far as movie making technology could go during that decade. I still have no complaints.

  • At the end of the movie the plane explodes but everybody gets out to safety.

  • what i would really like to see now is modern ultralight aircraft made affordable to all made from cheap materials which can fly long distances. we can designairplanes that fit the pilot like a glove including a parachute if need be for safe bail out. i want to see airplanes become as common as the family car and as cheap. we could even install refueling fuel stations over the atlantic at specific waypoint routes for increased route flexibility. we have the technolgy so use it

  • It way better then Twilight...

  • Good film. By the time this film reached the Philippines, it was 1980, so it was entitled Airport '80.

  • WOW the whole plane turned over and let me guess everyone was alright????

  • Please tell me that the Airport tack-on films weren't really that dumb. Were they?

  • @SomeUselessGeek No they weren't..'79 was a reach but '75 and '77 were pretty good.

  • The narrator sounds like smithers from the simpsons! :D Thumbs up if you argee :D

  • @TheBratProductions I think it really is...LOL

  • @TheBratProductions It is! I've just found out.

  • @TheBratProductions actully, the narrator sounds like a cross between smithers and kent brockman.

  • wow, you summed up one of my favorite movies in under 3 minutes, great editing!

  • @MentalRob Thank so much, Glad you like it :<)

  • This is so lame movie...

  • The destiny of Concorde F-BTSC was written 21 years before in this movie.

  • What's The Song During The Chase?

  • @alantay11 " red wire, blue wire" from immediate music

  • @darkstarkc99 thanks

  • I saw Airport 79 and I didn't think it was that great. I liked Airport 75 better. I enjoyed 75 better than all the other airplane disaster films because it had more action and suspense in it. I also admire Karen Black for bravely playing the part of the reluctant flight attendant who was forced to fly the plane and making sure the rest of the people on board was okay. The best part is when she figures out how to fly the plane by herself after losing contact with the air traffic.

  • I agree with everything you said. Out of all of the films in the series. '75 is the pearl in the oyster. The series started to degrade after that. if only because they didn't want to put the money into the films....when you go cheap...you get cheap.

  • @darkstarkc99 You remember what happened to that plane last Febrary when the pilot Chesley Sullenberger landed the plane he was operating after it stalled into the Hudson River and at the same time all the passengers on board managed to escaped alive, don't you? I'm sure you heard about that incident. Chesley Sullenberger, "Sully" is known as a hero. This was not a movie either, this was 150% pure real life. "Sully" is one awesome pilot! That is what you call a miracle!

  • Sure, I remember that. It wa all over the news. :)) He just retired a week or so ago I believe. Super Experienced would be the words I would use. we need more pilots like him. Yes! a true hero.

  • @darkstarkc99 He's retiring only from flying commercial planes, he's still going to fly, but only private jets. He also retired because he wants to do some kind of advocacy work for the rest of the pilots because the airline companies have been very unethical to them. At least that's what I was told and trhe way I understand it.

  • Pardon, me the Hudson River plane incident happened last January. Excuse my miscalculation of dates.

  • @darkstarkc99 I saw Airport 77 with Jack lemmon. That one was alright, but it was kind of slow. I can't judge or voice my opinion about the very first airplane disaster story. "Airport" because I never saw it. Thanks for being on the same page as me.

  • ooooooh

  • Awsome!

  • Thanks, glad you liked it :)

  • I am sure many know this but for those that dont the Corcorde 203 BTSC used for this film was the exact same Concorde that crashed in Paris in 2000.

    What a coincidence

  • can't say I've ever seen that....probably best if I didn't waste my time then...LOL..thanks for the heads up.

  • Yes! unfortunately it was, It was difficult to make a trailer exciting for this film. but I did my best...LOL....And I agree...... I too have seen worse disaster flicks..

  • Exellent job!! This is better than the original trailer they made for this movie! Nice music to go with it as well

  • Thank you very much

  • I ain't seen this airport. But this trailer makes it llok cool anyway. Good job, and could you please tell me what soundtrack you used for this?

  • Thanks.......It's not one of the better films in the series...but still might be worth a view...at the least, you can say you've seen them all..LOL.. Redwire,Bluewire....that's the name of the song,by immediate music.

  • Yeah, I can tell the graphics in it aren't as good, and the plot may not be as sensable. But like you say, at least I'd have seen em all. =)

And thanks, =D I've noticed that Immediate music puts out a lot of great suspence music. Are they what you used for all your Airport trailers?

  • I think most of them...It's been such a long since I've made them I can't really remember what I used...Immediate music,Two steps from hell, and X-ray dog,are the real pro's when it comes to trailer music....all of their stuff rocks

  • Yeah, I know for a fact that Immediate Music's music was used in the Dante's Peak trailer and Jurassic Park 3 trailer. So yeah, they rock. I ain't heard nothin from those other two tho. I'll have to check them out.

  • Two steps from hell did The new star trek film trailers.

  • I thought this 1 was the weakest of the 4 films, but I do still like it. Best thing about it ...the Concorde. Lucky 'nuff to have rode her before it's dawn. Greatest plane ever built. Choice trailer DS. THX:)

  • I'll agree with you there....kinda wish they would have put a bit more effort into making it...but I did't put up the cash so I guess you get what you get...LOL.....WOW you got to fly on the concord?...Hell Dude! Your part of history now!...good for you.

  • Nice trailer. For a better movie about Concorde, see "The Concorde Affaire '79". You can see clips of it on my channel.

  • Thanks..I'll check it out.

  • it could if concorde was still flying

  • The saddest thing is that this gorgeous plane was pulled because it was not profitable. It's deadly accident: A plot to finally get rid of the Concorde? Anyway, a plane can't fly horizontally, not at that speed, you can't just hold your hand out of a sliding window at that speed and fire a flair gun and you can't outmanouver a heat seeking missile. Lot's of fun anyway and why all the passengers get back onto the plane again (seemingly made of cardboard) is anybodys guess. HAHA!!

  • "Anyway, a plane can't fly horizontally,not at that speed, ...."

How do you suppose Concorde flew from London to new York? Vertically? Youtube is a repository for some of the dumbest comments ever generated by mankind.

  • Sorry! I meant vertically, which it does in the film. Geez, was only a typo. Excuuuuuuse meeeee! What Youtube is known for is therudest people!

  • Concorde was profitable. BA made up to £50 million profit every year. It was pulled because AF never made much money and were doing very badly at that time. Airbus who supported it were getting tired of ti as they wanted to focus on things like the a380.

BA wanted to go on, but Airbus decided to not let them.

    Learn the facts first.

  • Showing us how inept the French are and how aggressive people on YT are. It was NEVER profitable! It was purely a prestige object. BA could have gone on with a more limited fleet alone....

  • No. BA made over £750 Million profit from Concorde over it's 27 years of operation. It's fact. Don't even try and deny it.

I never said the French were inept. Over 75% of Concorde's market was business related, with the rest left to leisure and celebrities. BA attracted the business as Britain, London specifically attracts much more business than Paris. It wasn't down to the airline but just what markets the countries attract.

  • Fine. I wil not deny it, whatever....It's not like this is the Kennedy assassination. This film however is horrid, so bad it's FUN! Rigth or need I deny that too?

  • Fine. I'll be cheeky. Long live the Queen. Don't go all Susan Boyle on me....HEHE....

  • Indeed.

  • france never made money with theres BA new wat they were doing

  • I love this Love Boat of the sky but it's absolute nonesense from a technological standpoint. Truly laughable YET I love this film. Charo and Jimmy Walker!!!!???

  • Yup! I agree totally...,Probably why It didn't do well at the movies,Come to think of ,I'm not entirely sure but I think this went straight to T.V...but still ...It 's just entertainment....Thanks for your comment

  • Regardless of the technical accuracies of the Airport films, they are great fun. And your tributes are AMAZING! It's just silly that people on YouTube argue the technical stuff ("this could never happen!") It's a movie! ANYWAY, re: your comment... Airport 79 was made for TV, never intended to go to the theaters.

  • Thanks so much mikey...I don't know too much about the tech stuff myself....I agree with you....I'm just so amazed that these films have such a following...remindes me of the chatter on a star trek fan page..LOL...I kinda like it...Long live the Airport series fans!!!!...LOL

  • Oh my god, I just wish that there were more of these gems. 70s disaster films are just so amazing. When you have time, of course, please do a tribute trailer for EARTHQUAKE. ;)

Tho seriously, any airline disaster film is above and beyond any others. Especially the Airport series...

    Keep up the good work!

    :)

  • Yes!...I do love those disaster films....I'll see what I can do mikey. Thanks again

  • can u make us a random plane video with scenes taken from diffrent scens from airport "the concorde today hit a boeing 747" keep on making videos i luv um

  • Terrific tribute! I just got an idea to pay hommage to all the great disaster films back in "the day". You have great skills as well, I knew that from the fantastic "Sphere" tribute. The editing on this one is particularly sharp!

  • OH wow!....I'd like to see that max..I'm a big disaster film fan..I decided to do all the Airport series films because nobody did them...I'm surprised by the number of people who liked them...especially airport '75...thanks for your kind comment

  • what is the title of the song? please reply

  • It's a mix of Immediate music songs...One is "Red wire blue wire " and I don't remember the other one.

  • I'd asked that same question along time ago.

  • Harry Shearer of SImpsons fame as announcer!

  • Ha!....Yes!.....your right...cool Thanks for the info

  • Unfortunately, the disaster movie genre has been rare these days.

  • Irony of fate. The Concorde F-BTSC shown in the film is exactly the one in 2000 in Paris crash

  • maybe "airport 2009- the hudson seaplane " would be a runner

  • What theme did you or they got this from?

  • this was something I mixed from a few immediate music songs

  • Love this, great tribute to a classic jet..They should make another Airport movie,"AIRPORT 90 THE BIRD" would be my title !!!

  • Thank you skyhighwhite.I loved doing it,and I agree I would also like to see another, even a remake of some of the older ones would make me happy.

  • I don't see how it would be an insult..they have made 2 or 3 films just about 911.and airport 75 had nothing to do with terrorists but your right..they will never make another airport film.people are not interested in airline disaster film anymore..just for that reason.

  • Anyone here have the original trailer?

  • Hi Darkstar, your vid is amazing as always! I do not know the film but I love your trailer! It makes me wanna see the picure. It's gripping, perfectly edited and has this special taste of drama.... Much better than an "official" trailer! Keep them going, I'm a big fan of your work!!!

  • thank you so much lunamo..comming from you(one of my friends)This means alot..I do have another trailer for airport 77 if your interested. these films were part of a series of disaster films I like to refer to as "the airport series"..and your right trailers back then focused in on the stars that played in the film while i focus in on the story and the action...and who dosn't like action eh?..thanks again

  • Great job on your video. My opinion then and now is that Airport 75 was the best of the series because it had very little blue screen cheesy visuals. Airport 77 was ok but 79 was a true disappointment. Nice job on the vid. The tribute you made of 75 actually made me see the movie again. I have no desire to see 79. LOL

  • Thank you for your kind comment,I agree airport 79 was a bit cheesy. They could have done alot better but I'm sure it had something to do with money..anyway,I wanted to make the tribute trailers for all of them.

  • En España Aeropuerto 80 OLE OLE Y OLE menudo montaje es fantastico mil gracias por estos videos.

  • Era mi placer. Gracias por watchng y comentar.

  • Well done. I liked "Airport 79." I would love to see a version minus the comedic stuff. Funny I met Robert Wagner last week. He signed a copy of his autobiography for me.

  • Thanks,I agree,Not one of the better ones. I think we all would like to see remakes of the entire series. You sure get around..good for you.

  • Awsome as always, I always had a soft spot for this film, as myrnaloyboy says, not the best film, but I just really love the concorde, what can I say. Watching your video, you forget that, and zero in on all the excitement, and now I want to watch the original again, probably a mistake, as how can you stand the orinal up to your creations, but as I said I have a soft spot for the concorde. At least I got in early this time, so I can watch it over and over again, Thanks as always.

  • Glad you liked your vid bro.I agree with everyone in saying This wasn't film wasn't a glorious achievement in special effects. But I think the masses would watch,(and might be disappointed after)another airport film if they continued the series, Just because!!! It's cult thing...

  • Go Mr Hollywood!!!You rock at this stuff big guy! Great vid...never seen the movie...can you believe it?....but music was SPOT on!! Kept my eyes GLUED!!... great job once again!!keep 'em coming!! always look forward to your stuff!...jan

  • Ha! Ha! Ha! Thanks jan..That's funny..I warn you though, you might be better off not seeing the movie..It makes this vid look like a blockbuster. As so many people commented,It wasn't one of the best in the series. I made this vid because I'm a diehard fan of the entire "airport" series. The thing is, It's not a bad storyling, maybe a bit far fetched, but the graphics(after the first 3 films films)are "LACKING!"(to put it nicely). Thanks as always jan.

  • Brilliant, you've made an awful film seem exciting.

  • Thanks..and your right, not the glory film of the series.

  • Another awesome video. You really have a talent for this.

  • Thanks shphftr..I do enjoy making these vids,It just fun making someting out of nothing..Lookng forward to one of your.
