Great video. I have used cinder blocks for over 5 years and they work great. I rotate crops in them while planting marigolds in every other square to help with pest control. Good luck to you.
Looks good but maybe you want to thin out some of the squares. Looks like the radishes and the beans were bit thickly planted. Nice design. Everyone could find these in a city.
No. I have never heard of any problems with chemicals from concrete blocks in square foot gardens. But an alternative building material for constructing the planting box is planks of wood screwed together in a square shape. Either way, you can grow a very successful garden with this method! :-)
@moneyman1934 I know about the original square foot gardening using the wood. But i already have some center blocks that i'm not using, and when i saw your video i thought what a great idea to use those and i would'nt have to spend any money. I will do a search on the internet and see what i can find out concering the concrete blocks. Thanks for the reply!
@3xslady I wonder the same thing... I am wanting to paint the outside blocks also but im sure the paint chemicals could leak through the blocks to my plants
