Picture this scenario: For some reason, the majority of Americans are gay and vote in a proposition that would ban straight marriage. Would you be for the majority's rule THEN?
@GodschildJCE Because AMERICA is the country that accepts all people, no matter who they are or what they do in their personal lives. It's sad that there are people like you who want an America that only plays by their rules.
Thus saith the Lord to those guilty of the sin of homosexuality and other sins: Repent! Jesus died for thee! Ask Him for forgiveness! Jesus will forgive thee and change thee!

@MrImsokewl Tell you what Mrlmsokewl, keep your religion to yourself, let us live our lives as equals under the law that the constitution guarantees us all, no matter who you are and let us worry about if we are going to heaven or not. If gods real and he is going to send me to hell for being a lesbian, then I don't want to be in heaven with him anyway. This is all assuming god and heaven are real which I would not believe if I was gay or straight.
@idaman12345 I'm an Atheist, and despite disliking "the Lord" I'd say those fairytales make more sense about humans than you Liberals do. The government will give those sniveling assholes a chance to get married, something that should be exclusive to mates of opposite genders. I don't see why they don't want to accept immigrants. @TheResearcher09 lol I love when you god folks talk about moral decay and we have to turn back to the bible and god. Humanity did fallow the morals of the bible for a few hundred years, it was called the dark ages. If the bible is true and god is real, he completely immoral. yes i just judged god
what's wrong with this age-old definition or marriage?
1. The social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc.
@hughster41 I was making fun of your silly reply you gave to me. I know there was gay people, there has been since the beginning of time probably. You were making a statement that said you didnt think that the founding fathers would want them to have equal protections, even though the founding fathers wanted equal protections for themselves. I was making fun of you, and due to the limited amount of space I did not effectivly get that point across and I am sorry for that.
Why the hell does it matter if 2 women or 2 men want to get married that is their right who does it effect... NOBODY so quit giving people shit over stupid things I'm pretty sure we have more important things in this country to worry about and for you religious freaks if they go to hell it doesn't effect you so leave the people alone and let them live their lives.
@hughster41 Because gay people did not exist when they came over here, and people were not gay back then. They did not rule on it because they did not care about it one way or the other, they had more important things to worry about than if marriage should be limited to a man and woman. Im sorry but I cannot see how you can say with out a shadow of doubt that they wouldnt approve of gay marriage, when you probably do not know what any of them actually believed and taught.
@KillSwitch2 Firstly, your choice of music is immature and childish, assuming from your name you like the band...if not then ignore that statement. Clling me a jackass is also immature. I KNOW there was gay people, I was replying to a comment someone made about the founding fathers not meaning for equal protection to gay people. Even though they knew gay people were in the country and if they really didnt like them they would have forced them out or made laws putting them in jail.
@KillSwitch2 So, one can conclude that since they knew but did not outlaw it (or eventually out law it like they did plural marriages) the founding fathers and early congressmen thought that while making sodomy illegal (to enforce catholic law regarding sex, only for reproducing.) they could not limit the gay peoples rights. Thats why they didnt make it law they couldnt marry. Thats why congress eventually overturned the sodomy laws and thats why we will eventually have gay marriage legally.
@hughster41 Yes, you do know the men who wrote the constitution all came to america to escape the controlling arm of the church, right? THEY were the minorities and they understood that just because the majority thinks something is right, doesnt mean that it is.
This issue is extremely funny, for one reason. As their name would imply, Democrats hate the rule of law and consequently the Constitution. Republicans fear rule by the will of the people and therefore appeal to the rule of law in the form of the Judicial system set up by the Founders. This issue has both sides of the aisle going against their core beliefs. Granted this is clearly a case of activist judges, and the Right is opposed to that. Also the judges are wrong. But it's still really funny.
Another so-called "news" story that neglects to tell you that the Judge.....the solitary man that made this decision......is one of the few openly Gay judges at this level in America. So yeah.....the Gay guy.....handed down a Gay opinion. Whoop-Di-Doo.
They call America the Land of the Free... well, I suppose they are starting to get there... perhaps Americans need to look North to Canada, now that's real freedom.
America will always seem backward to us Europeans, until this becomes a non issue, you simply should be able to marry, or have a civil partnership with who you want.
Still, well done California, and now let's see if the other states follow.
So a GAY judge who has self interests in the case that he is judging, is allowed to overthrow the law the people voted into power? California is truly the land of fruits and nuts.
You know your country is in trouble when judges go against the people, when the congress goes against the people (i.e. Obamacare), and when the President goes against the people (i.e. back door ammnesty). Talk about a dark time in the history of the United States of America.
@lcromy our children and grandchildren will be ashamed of us if we continue old prejudices going against the new ways, just as some of us are ashamed that our grandparents were slaveowners or opposed women voting or any number of old prejudices.
@lcromy He should have technically dismissed himself, but do you know how many judges are bias towards issues that never step aside from the case? Two wrongs do not make a right, but if its a big deal then the district court will over turn his verdict. Yes, a judge can over turn the people it doesnt matter it 1 billion people voted, if the law is not constitutionally legal judges can do it. America is in trouble, but it has been since Regan, im sorry, but its true.
"the irony is stunning, you are trying to impose your beliefs and your lifestyle on me. "
Who is forcing anything on you?
Is anybody trying to pass a law that is going to make you marry somebody of the same sex? Or making it illegal for you to marry somebody of the opposite sex?
@stevebosox Giving gays the same freedoms of marriage as everyone else doesn't effect you in anyway. Look up what irony and hypocrisy means, dipshit, and don't waste my time with your posts.
@stevebosox hey assbag, you are actually trying to impose your beliefs on me. Is your head too far up your ass to realize the irony in that, douchebag?
@BANgayADOPTION That is an actual law, that has been found to be legal and constitutional. You cannot harm another, either by emotional harm or physical harm. A child cannot protect themselves so this law is set to protect them for themselves. Banning gay marriage is not the same as it does not harm anyone, physically or emotionally.
@Jinreeso But what's NOT there is "equal protection of a sexually deviant lifestyle." There was a legal vote here, and no judge should have the right to distort the law to approve something based on his liberal bias.
@CRoadwarrior sexually deviant? by who's definition? Religions? Gods? Yours? Has congress ever used those words? Where are you getting your information from, because it is all contorted and wrong.
@Jinreeso Um yes, thats why sodomy is banned in most states, they say a prayer(in God's name) every session and the founding fathers were religious, thus the religious overtones in our government. Read a book next time, its all history. Oh the wonders of facts and history, its like it really happened! Check it out!
@stevebosox Sodomy IS NOT banned in most states, and please PLEASE for the love of YOUR God, give an instance of someone being charged and imprisoned for sodomy in the last 40 years. The founding father's were not religious as you think in todays standards, most hated religion and organized churches. You need to read a book, I am a history major and I know history. Over tones? You mean the addition of In God we Trust, and "Under God" yeah those were added in the 1950s. Owned you, again.
@stevebosox The Supreme Court ruled on this issue in Marsh v. Chambers[1] in 1983, finding that the opening prayer is not an "establishment of religion" prohibited by the 1st amendment, but merely "a tolerable acknowledgment of beliefs widely held among the people of this country." They pray to appease the masses, not to symbolize anything. Muslims are religious does that mean shi'ai law should be used in our country? Sorry, but your arguments are EASILY dismissed.
@andro89 Hey! Do you think that if voters passed by 7 million votes a law requiring all women to commit abortions that should stand? Or do you think a judge should step in and say they were wrong in there vote, and deem it unconstitutional? I thought you would see my point.
So blocking gay people from marriage is like forcing women to have abortions? Sounds like the democratic party campaign slogan. Name an instance in American history where voters have overwhelmingly favoured some sort of violent coercive technique(like forcing women to have abortions) and I'll see your point. The point of a referendum is to enact a constitutional amendment, therefore by implication IS constitutional, take it national if neccessary, and I'll sign off on it whatever the result.
@andro89 It doesnt matter if it involves violence or if it involves petting puppies, if it is unconstitutional it is not legal. Due process and Equal protection says that you cannot limit the rights of others (minorities) just because the majority votes on it. Period.
@Jinreeso "You cannot limit the rights of others just because the majority votes on it" So the law limiting the rights of people to engage in bigamy is also unconstitutional by your logic?
@andro89 On a technical legal stand point, yes it is unconstitutional. Why is the law there? To keep people from abusing our tax system and welfare systems, will that be over turned? Maybe, if nothing else it should be reworded to say that you can only marry a number of people you can financially support. Look, I am sorry you do not see my point of view, but im not going to respond you everything you type, I can go back and forth but what is it going to accomplish?
"When did this so called referendum occur which made it a constitutional right to have slaves?"
The constitution was not ratified by referendum.
The state legislatures of the original 13 states ratified the constitution which allowed for slaves.
Abolitionism was considered a radical fringe movement.
Abraham Lincoln, "I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races."
These Bigots don't know when to stop. Funny liberals always refer (incorrectly) to the US a democracy..when it favors them, like congress voting..HOWEVER it's a whole different thing when a democratic process goes against their position then.. then.. we are a republic! make up you minds. Marriage is between a husband(male) and a wife(female) who is the wife in a homo marriage?! When I ask for a P.B.J. I want peanut butter and jelly NOT peanut butter and NUTS!
Well we can see the ignorance of the (loud few) posted here who would not now equality, justice or truth from a hole in the wall. The fact is that in time justice will prevail and equality, love and oneness will prevail. Stupid people eventually either grow or die...we as humanity must evolve or die...I chose to evolve.
Marriage is ordained by GOD and is between a MAN and WOMAN. It has always been that way. My children will know that being GAY is a sin; not to mention it is against Natural Law. God loves ALL people, but he does not love ALL the sins we do. Gay marriage is WRONG. I don’t care anymore about being politically correct. This country is in for a HUGE surprise.
Let me get this straight, no pun intended. California = A bunch of drunk driving, pot smoking (and growing), illegal, gay and broke Mexicans. Nice! What a Shit hole that place is! You go Cali....... All these assholes here Arizona are packing up and headed your way! Good look with that... Oh, and how's that boycotting Arizona going for ya? Broke bunch of dumb asses! Super Thanks!
@pntdblack I think surgery is disgusting lets ban that. oh and sewage workers and junkyards. if you don't like it don't do it and it wont effect you in any way. I can't even believe that our government can't solve this one. equal rights under the law, religion has nothing to do with it, whether you like it or not has nothing to do with it.
Picture this scenario: For some reason, the majority of Americans are gay and vote in a proposition that would ban straight marriage. Would you be for the majority's rule THEN?

That is not "the age old" definition of marriage. The original definition of marriage was a man owning as many women as he could afford.
This has been changed to two equal individuals committing to each other.
It has been changed (by straights) to the point that it no longer makes since to keep gays out.

@andro89 Hey! Do you think that if voters passed by 7 million votes a law requiring all women to commit abortions that should stand? Or do you think a judge should step in and say they were wrong in there vote, and deem it unconstitutional? I thought you would see my point.
Jinreeso 1 year ago

Period.

@Jinreeso "You cannot limit the rights of others just because the majority votes on it" So the law limiting the rights of people to engage in bigamy is also unconstitutional by your logic?
andro89 1 year ago
@andro89 On a technical legal stand point, yes it is unconstitutional. Why is the law there? To keep people from abusing our tax system and welfare systems, will that be over turned? Maybe, if nothing else it should be reworded to say that you can only marry a number of people you can financially support. Look, I am sorry you do not see my point of view, but im not going to respond you everything you type, I can go back and forth but what is it going to accomplish?

@MisterGibs Where? What was the legislation called? When did this so called referendum occur which made it a constitutional right to have slaves?

@andro89

@andro89 it will be appealed and the people will win in the End

These Bigots don't know when to stop. Funny liberals always refer (incorrectly) to the US a democracy..when it favors them, like congress voting..HOWEVER it's a whole different thing when a democratic process goes against their position then.. then.. we are a republic! make up you minds. Marriage is between a husband(male) and a wife(female) who is the wife in a homo marriage?! When I ask for a P.B.J. I want peanut butter and jelly NOT peanut butter and NUTS!
words have meaning 4 a reason!!

"drunk driving" Actually Cal has some of the toughest D.D. laws in the nation.
"pot smoking (and growing)" What's your point?
"gay" Ok, not our fault you're a homophobe.
"Mexicans" is being Mexican supposed to be an insult?
You're not only a misinformed homophobe, you're a racist too. Have fun with that.
