A schoolfriend of mine was emigrating with his family going back to India, and he said he had so enjoyed growing up in Mandalay he would loathe to leave. So much fun he said and we were only about 14 then back in the early 60s. He lived just across the road from Shwekyeemyin Pagoda.
Yes, there is so much to see in and around Mandalay, the last royal capital and cultural heart of the Burmese nation.
