lol, I tried over clocking with AI suite and had the same problem, It works fine with small increments at a time, Beware of its ram overclocking, some Asus board have limited multiplier's and the auto setting will stay at the SPD even after you change the timings. You think your running at 800 on auto but some 800's SPD's are 540. A stable O.C. nearly always come's down to ram.

I'm using the Q6600 right now overclocked to 3.94GHz with a Zalman 9700NT cooler, it's still an exceptionally fast CPU for LGA775 flat forms. Later on I will be upgrading to a QX9770.

Q6600 is still a great cpu. Stock speeds 2.4ghz are getting a little too slow, but OCing it to 2.8-3.2ghz (on air) will run (or beat) the some of best 775 cpu's.

Make sure you check that your motherboard is comaptible with quad core as most of them have a higher TDP usually (95W/105W) than core 2 duo (65W) except for the QXXXXs processors. I'm upgrading and thinking of getting an AMD phenom ii x4 955. Only €125 (w/o shipping) on ebay and mobo for around €40 (w/o shipping)

Actually, the answer to the first question is NO. using that USB thinguie works for movies, but there is a small lag (aprox. 0.35 Ms) between the sending of the signal and the visual representation on screen, making playing games nearly impossible.

e 8400 is better for gaming, core 2 quads such as the q6600 are more for video encoding etc. They arent clocked as high and most games dont utulize all four cores, still nice too have thoguh for later on.

the reason why the Q6600 is slower at games even at the same clock as the e8400 is because each core in the E8400 has 3MB. in the Q6600, since the cache is devided between four cores, it has only 2MB cahce in the core, which is why the only games the 6600 can beat the E8400 have to multicored

probably install windows vista 64 bit, cause if you install more than 4GB of ram, then the 64bit will recognize all 4 GB of ram. The 32bit will NOT see all 4GB of ram.
