  • Possibile che non possa sputare quello schifo di gomma che tiene in bocca?

  • Thanks for these video lessons. I played the cello for 5 yrs, and had to give it up due to not having an orchestra in my new school. I miss it so much. Can't wait to start playing again

  • Seems sensible, so far as it goes. Check out celloprof's videos, though. I find his concept of pivot points makes things clearer.

  • thank you a lot :) man....

  • In principle he is right about the use of the arm but I do wish he would spit his gum out before he starts. It gets in the way of his professionalism.

  • This guy is hilarious...but I've learned a lot. Thanks.

  • thank you so much...it was very helpful

  • hi Mr.John sTuart,.! your videos really helped me, coz im just a beginner! haha,.thanks a lot for teachings those techniques,.keep up the good work and god bless,.

  • Thank you for these videos, you're an excellent teacher, I'm a beginning Cello Student and these are very helpful for in between my lessons!

  • I see he got his bow tension right this time.

  • Even sound, eh? Very important thing.. Thx.

  • Thank you very much for the video lessons. I just discovered video lessons on YouTube and find it fantastic!... a very generous countribution to the learning of cello worldwide!

  • This is a great contribution!!! keep up the good work..i always learn from watching others...thanks John Stuart...(hope I spelled that right?)

  • I would like to comment that while bowing you need to use your wrist in the upper tip not the forearm

  • i cant get my cello to produce a sound with the bow is that normal and when i mean nothing its nothing like id pass a piece of paper on the stings

  • Hew Donninhumano, the sound of the cello is produced by varying factors: the speed of the bow, the pressure of the bow on the strings, and the rosin and hair gripping the strings in order to "pull" a note from it. allow the wieght of your arm to sink into the string...not enough to produce scratchy sounds but enough to allow the bow to "bite" into the string...In time it will become "liquid" like in the sound production and the feel. Good luck!!

  • thanks !!!!

  • Is your strings new? maybe you need more rosin on your bow? it sounds to me if you cant get any sound at all you need more rosin :D

  • Hans Jorgen Jensen cello professor of Northwestern University

  • Who were your teachers? Thanks.

  • I give you credit that you're making these videos, but don't post them if your technique isn't good.

your bow is crooked because you pull your elbow inward. extend outward and pull horizontally while playing dude. use the bridge to find the bow angles man.

  • thanx for the vid john- im really having a hard time fixing my bowarm and also vibrato. So many bad habits. But the way you broke it up- talking about the different mechanics and all- kinda made it easier for me to finally get it. well gotta go practice now- Danke :)
