Islam is definitely violent in relation to anybody who does not submit to Islamic rule (shariah). I wish the boys and girls would read surah 9 in order to understand that the quran does in fact use jihad in the sense of warfare against infidels (kuffar). This warfare is a collective duty of the islamic community for spreading islam. The women should read Surah 4, 34, which calls upon men to beat their women if they do not obey.

Islam is the Arabic word for "submission". Technically it means submission to god. Unfortunately in reality it is complete submission to Imans and Mullahs. And these positions are now filled more and more with radical men who expouse violence against fellow Muslims (Shia and Sunni killing each other) and of course against non-Muslims. Also these clerics believe women must be uneducated, covered, and totally obedient to husband and/or male relatives. That's Islam.

"some of the things Christians have done".. meaning, Christian *people*. i believe we often make the mistake of taking human action as godly action; all religions have flaws, yeah, but flaws come from humans. remember religion is where spirituality and 'humanity,' if you will, meet; the wrongs of religion never truly stem from the spiritual/godly side of it.
