  • nice, check out my trance :) /watch?v=QWB3jRr7ipc

  • nice tune dude ..well structured

  • @rotationevents Thanks dude :)

  • nice mate

  • @antbux123 Thanks alot mate & thanks for subscribing! I'll have to upload more tunes, although most of them are made in FL Studio. I use FL more than Reason, my preferred choice :)

  • dang, this is old school reason lol

  • What instrument is labelled 'RevCrash'? I really need to produce a dance track for my coursework. thanks :)

  • it's the "Crash" reveresed. So instead of the high clash first and then fade out, it builds up from the fadeout up to the clash.

  • @MikeRomulus

    Thanks. :)

  • nice track men ; )

  • Thanks!

  • Nice :)

  • Cheers!

  • hey can u help, just wondering, does reason 4 come with its own loops and sounds, or do i need like a usb keyboard for midi? i dunno what im saying really but could do with help about gettin started, i mainly will be making pop/electro/dance kinda stuff coz thats me passion lol!! what u think i need?? just wondering where u get all the sounds from and how u get them up there. cheers :)

  • Actually, you DO NOT need a physical keyboard for that... you can use MidiYoke and LiveMidiKeyboard, this application emulates a Midi Keyboard with your standard QWERTY keyboard, and it works with Reason. =)

  • un un un un ! (

  • Super!!!!!! amazing song!!!

  • Pretty good, add in some EQ for more "Umph" at parts and it would be excellent. But then again you probably already know that saying that this is one of your first and its from 2007 :]

  • Thanks! I could remake it one day & improve on it. There's lots of other music I'd like to do so don't kno if I will get back to this one.

I don't have a newer version of reason, I mostly use FL Studio now.

  • The first version of reason I used was 4... That's old :]

  • Sounds good man, nice!

  • add some reverb and delay fx

  • I know, I didn't think about all that when I made it :)

  • How did you add a vocal? is that with a\ MIKE

  • haha no, although that would work, it would be more work than it's worth. They used a vocal patch, which was probably downloaded or came in a refill that they got.

  • recycle (used to make rex files)software from propellerhead

  • Sounds very boring :/

  • It's dance music, it's supposed to sound like this.

  • I know, but I still have my own oppinion about things, and think that this tune sounds boring because it's dried out and way too repetetive.

  • I don't think there are any recording capabilities yet, just keyboard input.

  • does anyone kno how i record in reason 3

  • sick tune ;p let me know what ya think of some of mine

  • Thanks man, Yea I think some of your tunes are cool, I like the Eyeball song it sounds like some of tha oldschool stuff!

  • in 1.17 when a bass or something like that come in,it was not good..

  • when the beat dropped i wa slike here we go another whack ass beat but then when the base came in it was hot.

  • Thanks alot, I think it could do with improvement but I have moved onto other songs since this one! I will upload them one day.

  • The bass is a Soundfont 2 Sample that I have!

I put it into the NN19 Sampler & made the melody or pattern myself in the Sequencer's

    Piano Note Edit Section.

  • below was a reply to

    'crystaltipps04'.

  • reply to ruuku00black....

I take your points on board but your missing 1 vital element.....isnt dance music about making ppl dance??? regardless of genre or where/how the music was created. You dont have to be a master of beats to create a good dance tune.

  • ok.. HELP NEEDED...I new to reason and i want to know as simple as How the hell do I open a .rfl file. Cant find it when i browse it in reason ??????

oh.. and [ReFill] Patrick Fridhs D-50.rfl is the file im trying to get to work.

  • I put the rfl file in C:\Program Files\Propellerhead\Reason

If u want to open it in NN19 Sampler, browse for file through the little blue folder Icon at the top of the sampler! Look for the file in Locations.

To add a folder to Locations, find the folder & drag it into the Locations Box.

  • i like the switching sounds, i made some songs too , check out : johnstreetnightshade

  • this was mastered pretty well(:

    kudos

  • cool cool

  • Do none of you guys every feel guilty for using pre programmed loops when making music?

I always always make the drum tracks from scratch using redrum. If I don't it's not my work.

  • That is true! Your using someone elses creation even if it's royalty free.

I hav used a few loops but I am now making some of my own. I think sometimes loops can sound fake!

  • whats wrong with using loops?? if the cap fits wear it......dance music is all about creativity aquiring music by any means.I almost always use pre programmed loops...I dont have the time or patience to slave over beats...each to their own but being negative never gets you anywhere in this subject.

  • That's fair enough. My point is that I can't present something I have created as my own if I just reused something that someone else put their time into. If you haven't got the time you haven't got the time, but I do think it is cheating. Just my personal opinion.

  • well take the vengeance samples for instance...alot of big producers use them in almost all of their tracks...

  • Yes but using samples is an entirely different beast to lifting an entire drum track, created in it's entirety by somebody else, which is used often without cessation for the entire duration of the song. Using good samples can be an artform if done correctly (though all too often it isn't). There's nothing arty about simply copying somebody else's work. The drum loop is so integral to any dance track that, in my opinion, it's something you should be doing yourself.

  • Dance music is creatin an audio story, different sections with different intentions.

Its about energy & controlin tht energy usin production technics, better production technics, better energy controll. Every bit shud have the passion of the producer throughout, other peoples loops aint got that passion (thats why gd artists have a distinctive sound). if u dnt even have the patience to produce n master ur own beats.

thn ul never have the talent to produce music of ur own. thts the honest truth.

  • IM GLAD GUYS LIKE YOU STILL USES THE OLD VER OF REASON,,,i have 4.0

  • Really! Is 4.0 not as good?

  • I use 4.0 and I love it, but I haven't used any of the other versions of Reason. I just started using it, having switched over from FL. From what I understand there are a lot more features that make it a little more intuitive, plus the Thor Polysonic Synthesizer which is amazing.

    Maybe download the demo. ;)

  • really nice video and nice song =) check my trance demo i done in reason 4.0 =)

  • I think that the synth could be a bit more prominent, but a good melody nonetheless. I like it.

  • Thank you, I might remake it some day!

  • I find the sounds in Reason are crap for making high end electro/dance music. i have downloaded various refills from eBay but all sounds sound really dated & cheesy & flat.

Is it possible to get decent fat electro synth sounds. Like Fedde Le Grande type sounds that are bang up to date, help anyone?

  • Dated, cheesy & flat describes it well lol.

I use FL Studio alot now & there's a few good pulgins wit nice synths & it's much easier to use!!! Give it a try.

  • what do you think is best of reason and FL?

I prefer FL of what I hear and see. and u can add VST/VSTi to fl :)

  • I use Reason alot for dance/trance music. And your right.. Reason dosnt seem to have any good strong analogue sounds... but it does hae its good points too. it is possible to make some pretty high end stuff using Reason.. though, you may wish to rewire it to Ableton Live, or Logic Pro

  • Sounds a bit 1995 & not in a good way. Sorry.

  • rubbish.

  • boring track= please use your imagination

  • baaaaad!

  • Gripdog, its obvious you dont know anythign about reason, you can make top notch tracks with reason if you know how to use it. Its abotu how the person uses the program. Compressions and eqing is the key and moulding ur own sound, this is just simple

  • gripdog, you must be dumb, alot of people that make "top class" (wtf kind of class is that?) use this program, and im very sure some of the music you've herd in the clubs and some radio have been created with Reason. happy dreamin kid

  • You are right.Everybody pointed the finger down at your comment, but you are right.

  • Sounds good!

  • Nice mix.. good sound.

    Keep up the good work

  • Thanks man! I have made more music, mostly done in FL Studio. I just ave 2 upload it.

  • Boring track

  • I know it is!

  • Quite good, Ever thought about doing gigs?

  • Nice song

  • yeah my tunes dont really sound tacky anymore but just dont sound as authentic as a want them to be, if u wanna check out my tunes msg me and ill give you my myspace page adress

  • ok, i uploaded some of my reaosm tracks here on you tube ..check em out.

  • That's true man, there was more heart & soul in the music years ago. We have too much technology at hand now & don't know where to start with it all lol.

  • i finnaly got reason...ya its professional but i don't understand people who blame fl studio...usually people don't know all the features of fl. both are great...

  • Yes, I think FL has alot of good sounds too & effects. Plus it's alot easier to use and you can lay down a tune quickly! I use FL alot more than Reason.

  • nice tune dude, ive been producing tunes on reason since reason 2.5 came out lol, but i always find with reasons (2.5, 3 or 4) no matter what re-fills you buy, there is always a tacky cheap feel to the overall sound, especially with the basses, kicks & hats!! Im i the only one that notices it???

  • Thanks, I agree with you totally man! Alot of sounds seem very cheap for a program that is suposed to be one of the best around & high rated. I was let down when I heard alot of them. But maybe it's what you can do wit it to!

  • yeah, well i produce hard trance and although i can mess around with the sounds and layer them to sound better their is still a cheap tacky sound to them. Its mainly the bass's and kick's..ah well its only £150 to get a tune engineered in a proper studio to get the sound right, which is what im in the process doing at the moment lol!!

  • THIS IS WICKED MATE!!

  • Auh, Cheers mate!

  • nice bass, how did u get/do it ? :)

  • Hey! I like your work! I'm a reason myself, but very lame so ia in't posting anything yet. I was wondering what you used for the lead, or how you made it etc. as i'm looking for somthing similar. Thanks!

  • wow nice work man!

i got Reason 3,0 and videos like this are the motivation to work harder XD

  • Great start, the rest is a bit incoherent IMO. Technically is great, but I think a better arrangement of sounds would have given the theme a more professional feel. Some of the sounds seem also a bit outdated, they remind me of techno music in the 90's. Nice work anyway, I wish I could do something half as good on my computer!

  • nice one (Y)

what version of reason is this.. and where the hell did u get it lol

    sfe

  • I loooooooove Reason ....and this is why!!!!

  • gratz really good sounds :)

  • HHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM... i should play this going in to bagdad!! Good job man!!

  • good work mate! If you make more of these you'll go far in this genre of music. I like those congos and the vocal sits in nicely, perfect timing as well, nice!

  • Thanks!

  • good as reason

  • the song is crazy on 2:10! Love it!

  • boring

  • Nice song. It was not boring!

Watch "my favorites", some stuff made with Reason!

  • what do you guys think is better? reason or fl studio?

  • depends what kind of music you're making...trance? - fl studio in my opinion....i would say reason is good for DnB and maybe Rock type stuff but if you're going for the Dance, Trance, Garage kind of sound its fl studio for you.

  • I think FL, cause you dont need a midi to work the program

  • but in order to use a keyboard on fl, don't you need midi?

  • I meant midi keyboard

  • ogh you dont need a midi keyboard to work reason.

  • reason shits over fl studios. i had fl for a year before i got reason and the sampels on fl are crap. reason is tedious to use (if you dont no what your doing) and is more time consuming but it sounds atleast 20 times better than fl.

  • Then make your own samples.

  • well no shit sherlock. im farily sure i wouold rather use reason when sequencing my samples then fl. fl is good for one thing, it can run 3rd party software through it; like absynth, dfh, etc.

  • I like the beats on this track. I don't care if you think it's boring, I found it cool. XD

  • haha naw i wasnt trying to show you up with my vid response. Just trying to show you different ways of how u can add more life to bass lines and melodies. Great song by the way. Keep it up.

  • how did you make that RevCrash and Crash? ( i know it is simple but i cant find the sound.. of what you did to make it) help

  • awesome this song is one of the coolest i ever heard.. im trying to make something like that but im new to reason.. is it some basic tutorials here? ( i have no keybord )

  • Not so bad!! Its kinda minimal but it has some house feeling... I think that bass and harmonics should be tuned up a little and manipulated a bit to mix with the basses

  • to be honest this is poor, but hey u gotta start sumwher, its a very boring tune

  • Yea, I know, I agree 100% It has to be one of the most boring songs I have ever made!

  • I love this song you have so much talent! :O

  • That was really good! Nice Job.

  • Thanks for all your comments,

    much appreciated!

  • nice tune.. Keep it up ..Cheers !

  • potential ist da. mehr leider nicht! ;)

  • Haha!, that is so funny. I don't know what their sayin & I don't know what language it is!

  • this is not bad , just needs some reverbs and delays and some cool effects. mixing isnt bad either.

  • Yea, I didn't put much effects n stuff in or master it to the best. It was just quickly made and posted.

    Thanks for the comments!

  • Good job guy, I'm sure many others can learn from your post.

  • Thanks Danny, Your vid is good too, nice piece of kit & good music!

  • the lead is pretty quiet, and the bass is a bit high-pitched

  • Yea, I agree with that. My mastering skills aren't great.

  • might be partially your monitors' fault--if they don't have enough bass you'll end up compensating for it by making the bass louder in the song, etc. etc.--which it sounds like is the case (that would also justify the high-pitched bass because lower bass wouldn't sound good on small speakers)

  • That's my prolem aswell, I don't have monitors. I use a hifi stereo and headphones. I know good monitors are very important for decent sound and I need to get some. Thanks for mentioning anyway.

  • Well even if you don't use "monitors" as monitors... if you get some bigger speakers for your stereo and/or bigger headphones it should do the trick

  • heyyy im luvin this tune

was just wondering if the samples u used were in reason already or if u got them seperate? either way can u tell me how u got em?

    thanks a ton :D

  • come hai fatto a fare tutti sti suoni? sorry but i can't speek english

  • lovin that bass line.......are you using side chain compression on it?

  • I'm not using side chain compression. It's just the original sound. The whole tune is running through a Combinator with an MClass Equalizer and RV7000 Reverb.

  • UAO you are very good dj you ave talent but is very long

  • I know, The beginning and end is a bit long. Alot of hard house tunes are made like this. It's like that so if it was to be mixed with other songs, there'd be plenty of room for a good mix. I Should have added more percussion sounds into it.

  • woooo dats cooool! i use to use reason 3 buh it broke on me so i hav aloada reason files that i cnt open untill i get anuva copy ov reason lol GUTTED!!!

    buh its proper gud tune

  • very good

  • nice

  • what is da name of da software?

  • Propellerhead Reason 3.0, I used some samples in it.

  • Great Tune, You have Pro Talent. Keep it up and you'll make a real hit some day!
