Karkat isn't mean, he's tragic. Poor guy, he has a scary secret and the problem is he also is the leader because deep down (so deep its buried under kilometers of rage) he wants the best for his friends.

Even with all the great themes the other trolls have, this remains my favorite. It's grumpy, dysfunctional, and in-your-face, yet, it also seems strangely... Determined? Maybe that's just me. Still, to me, there could not have been a better theme for Karkat.

It took me a long time to realize Karkat's theme. I talked to everyone before I chose "Be (someone else)" and then the music changed. Then it hit me how perfectly this suits Karkat - with all of his brooding and hilarious self-loathing - that I ended up laughing hard.

@Goatmon It's more like the refrain is the prelude to Showtime, and that Harlequin (partial) appears before Showtime actually does. But you're basically right. And I knew [piano refrain] that was the first song, too... so I have no clue why I phrased it like that.
