In response to MrKillerYields comments regarding ORCA paint. No paint is used in the manufacturing of the Solatube products for the internal reflective tubing. The material used for the reflective tubing is a patented Spectra-light material. It is not painted, will not chip, flake or rust and produces a 99.7% reflective surface. It is actually the worlds most reflective material. Thanks
@DaylightingDiva I live in Texas - lots of sun!! Is it possible to wrap the tube with installation so as not to heat up to attic any more? Thanks for your reply in advance.
@rbentrdr Solatube Daylighting Systems have very minimal Solar heat gain and also have very low U-Values which means you could potentially save HVAC/Air conditioning energy consumption also. Insulation wrapped around the tube shouldn't be necessary, a standard light bulb would probably generate more heat.
The new microfiber reflective technology used in ORCA would likely work well in a Skylight or solar tube in place of the paint because it has significantly higher reflectivity than paint, combined with a true diffuse reflection - resulting in more photons / light making it into room. Have you seen this yet in daylighting products?
In response to Vizard, Solatube Daylighting systems block out 99.9% of UV.
Ultra Violet light is broken into UVA, UVB and UVC.
Solatube acrylic outer domes have special UV inhibitors designed to block 100% of UVB, 100% of UVC and 95% of UVA.
Our systems will not cause any skin harm at all and also will not cause fading of furniture or products.
