  • haha your stained underwear

  • Jeez to live in LOVELY *cough* Milwaukee, WI costs me just as much To live in my dream country japan hmmmm me thinks I need to make moving plans :D

  • One questions about tatami mats: if they're hard to clean, do they tend to...stink? I was once very interested in moving to the UK but there seems to be this musty smell everywhere that I just can't stand, and I'm sure the culprit are those carpets they love so much. The ones that take up a whole room and are attached to the floor. Funky stuff!

  • Great video. You really should stop saying "Uhm"... You sound dumb as fuck.

  • LMAO@ your penguine,backyard , ahaha " shawshank ", LOL" berlin-esk" ahaha omg laughing soo hard

  • This was really entertaining and pleasingly informative, thanks!

  • i love tight spaces - this is a good place for me

  • Wow I laughed my head off to the red book joke. Didn't know you could speak Chinese.

  • Wow. Ive been thinking about moving to japan after i graduate high school but i dont know if i can stand the living accommodations. We have so much space here in the US that an apartment in tokyo is like a death trap. lol

  • "I have a lovely view" You sure do ^^

  • heh, wo shi meiguoren, friend... wow, even your chinese is better than that of an avarage american. I suspect that you also like Chinese culture a bit, am I right? Just curious, since I am here actually to find vlbog or normal blog about China but I guess there aren't many since youtube is banned, so I have started watching your Tokyo videos as a substitute to China vblog. I used to live in China, so I got hooked

  • People complained that my apartment was messy, and yours was showing up as a related video, so I came here to compare, and .. 安心した。 We're all messy with limited space. Way to build your own counter--that was super manly. 6.7man? That's not TOO bad.. I had this image that Tokyo apartments were like 10manen

  • @NILSJPN Oops this is me, by the way. Youtube likes to change my username depending on which gmail account I'm logged into. ドンマイ

  • "If there's an earthquake, this things goin down first." LOL!!

  • @signalrambo thank god he moved. I remembered this vid while the whole mess started

  • love the video man funny very funny

  • D: how would i live without an oven to cook pizza and chicken crap

  • @ahALEXIUS76 you buy microwave and start liking frozen pizza :D

  • LOL!! thats a real nice view

  • Last chance for you # lushfmlk.info #

  • lol Mao's red book

  • Shawshank Redemption, that's funny! I found your channel after Jason mentioned it. The J-vlogs have gotten me interested in JET. The more I see it, the more fun it looks... :)

  • Lol love the commentary :) "I'll be crushed to death" ... Maybe you should buy some panties and see if someone steals it :)

  • I loved the intro. haha

  • I am with you why live in the boonies well I lived in La and was sluming and what do you know I could not get work in La proper nearest job was Orange Co, I lived in the city to drive an hour no traffic 3 with. I think we should all have shipping container homes that can be slid into place in an area near where we work to slice the commutes down, If we did this imagine the energy we could save. You get transferred slide your apt out set it on a truck train boat and back into another stack.

  • @cdltpx If you want to be a badass and have mucho space have 4 containers and when you move you have 4 or 2 trucks (doubles) IDK what you think you ever see shipping container apartments constructed look on yt you will see if you inquire.

  • lmao at ur chinese invasion safety plan <3 XD

  • He's so realistic. I really like that about him.

  • i love the chinese invasion book

  • you look like josh groban!

  • I like this guy and his videos...he has my odd sense of humor. He tells it like it is instead of pretending and hiding the bad like so many tourism shows/vids.

  • I kinda like the thought of living in a small home... but to pay $600 for it is insane to me. I guess I could try and find a couple of sane room mates. Hmm. Anyways, love the funny bits of course. I really like that picture hanging in your bedroom/living room from back then when you use to live there just try and stop this sentence. *quick smile* Onward to ze nex video.

  • @SaturatedLife1 wasn't that $600 a month though? thats not bad if thats the case

  • @natalie1605 I think paying that much for an apartment is a bit crazy though I do know the cost of living there in Japan is high. My mom pays less than $500 for our three bedroom one bath home. So I am most definetely not for a one bedroom apartment. Thanks for replying because I just might try watching the rest of the Life In Tokyo videos! >.<

  • best part was the penguin and the backyard lol awesome XD

  • Why they have garbage pick up in Japan? Why not have big trash cans downstairs or in the neighborhood and everyone shorts their trash there. Besides how pick up works? You put the trash outside your door and someone picks it up, does not sound like the famous Japanese efficiency.

  • four places to PEE hahaha!

  • Mr. Cooney sir, where do you get your music from? I have never watched a TokyoCooney video without loving the music playing in the background.

  • lol your funny i wanna leave in japan

  • Hilarious.

  • Garbage does suck.

  • Man, you deserve all the susbscribers and views!

You're so fun to watch, and your videos so informative!

  • i think if someone broke in probably just leave money for me!

    haahahahaha

  • you are sooo funny. i like the bit about Mao and the your personalized cabinet. The tour was awesome. I noticed that many of your videos are kinda dim. They are funny, entertaining, and educational to watch, but just a suggestion, maybe you could film in better lighting?

    5 stars

  • how do you clean tatami?

cute apartment by the way :) it could use a little cleaning up, but still nice

  • Ahahah they would leave money for me.....and underwear thieves!!!!! LOL!

  • I love your place!

  • Wow, I can't believe I watched all ten minutes of this! LOVE your sense of humor! Only way to survive, my friend.. only way to survive.

  • Chinese Invasion Safety Plan. Full-proof, lmao.

  • hahaha, i love all the great comments, shawshank view.

  • you can also refer any freeloaders to the genkan and be like find a bill of your liking and pay dem shits

  • all u did was spin around and thats it thats a dream house for many

  • your chinese is pretty good

  • Thank you so much for those great and very interesting videos

  • no oven = no roast dinner

if there's one thing that has put me off moving to tokyo, then this is it.

    i like your place though.

  • the penguin thing is awesome

  • Interesting. I live in a "regular" house, and I just dry my clothes on a line as well. It's not that bad, actually. To me, it's actually more space without a dryer, because the clothes hang. Although a dryer does rid of lint, dries quickly, and it softens the fabric and smells good if you throw in fabric softener.

  • thanks for posting these tremendous videos, I am an elderly guy who lives in England but who loves Japan. I have visited Tokyo three times in the last year, Many Japanese people tell me i should take a job as a conversational English teacher over there. I am not sure how to go about this. I will be back in Tokyo at the end of October, Any suggestions ?. Cheers and thanks again

  • lol "Panty-Thief" reminds me of good ol' Happosai from Ranma ½

  • AH Happosai.

  • Thanks for taking the time to put these cool videos up ★

  • i love the intro music lol

  • lol. MAo's Little Red Book.

  • omg I would love to live in such apartment :D

  • Agreed the penguin had my laughing pretty good.

  • OMG flapping pinguin tap at 4:38 that is maby the most awsome thing i have ever seen in my life

  • First: what is tatami?

Second: you said first floor but I'm pretty sure that's ground floor.

  • 4:38 - Yeeeeeeeeeeeeey ROFL :DDD

  • 600 usd a month? i don'tthink i can afford that.

  • Haha, "leave money for me..."

  • nice;D;D

  • if some one broke in i think they would just leave money for me LMAO that was funny

  • Great vid, interesting to see how tiny the apartments are. The panty thief bit was hilarious, lucky you eh? :D

  • Heh, a total of three places to pee! Yes!

  • I love the backyard part lol

  • The Berlin Wall? ha ha ha ha

  • what is the name of the intro song?

  • why haven't they got a oven?! They can't bake anything!

  • Ovens are more of a western or european thing, they cook on gas stove tops most of the time.

  • "so i think if someone broke in, they'd probably just, i don't know, leave money for me"

  • wo shi meigouren, wo shi pengyou. xDD

  • brilliant!

  • lol! underwear thieves!

i love your backyard. lol XD

your apartment is really small, i think my room is bigger.

  • i lika da penguin

  • Iam still going to tokyo the only problem for me is the garbage I think we Americans are just lazy so yeah I have no problems u know for drying my clothes on the line and cleaning the floors and stuff so yeah I am good and Ill carry my trusty bat to whoop the burglars asses and try to steal my underware and it will probably be the last thing they do in theirs lives before the see the devil with in me come out!!!

  • Hmmm... thanks for the vids! Seriously,I'm starting at number 1 and working my way up. There very informative, and I'm glad I take Japanese now. Only three to six years and I hope to move their or somewhere in Spain. ^_^ Possibly back to Germany, but I like Japan much more.

  • WOW, we think the same! I live in the U.S, but I'm from a Army family, so I was born in Germany. I like Japan, but I speak Spanish, so I'm planning on moving to Spain or Japan when I join the Air Force after college next year!

your post was sooo like how I think that i had to comment!

  • Wow! :D Pretty cool and I'm from a Navy family, born on a Navy base for the S.S. Nimitz in California. No kidding, I hope to be stationed in Spain or Japan too, then hopefully teach in one of the countries. Hahaha, crazy.

  • Wow, I was born in Germany too, because my mom and dad were army.

  • garbage there does suck... exp when you eat fish... and thats daily

  • LMAO at communist mao book!

  • hHhahahah. :)

  • damn. tht sucks. i'm having second thoughts about living in japan. please move, you making me sad. (don't have a washitsu?

  • In american money, how much do u spend for the apartment and utilities altogether?

  • IF someone broke in, they would probably leave money for me!!! whahahaaahahahaa

  • nobody lives in houses in big asia cities, if you have a lot of money you get a studio

  • I love the Shawshank Redemption line.

  • I love your garden its really nice. Really good tour of your apartment thx.

  • This is a very good tour, love the apartment. Though the lighting is kind of bad.

  • i love your vids

  • Vote for Tokyo Cooney.

  • we can feel like we understand you just that little better

  • ...and I thought my studio APT in L.A. was small.

  • hahahaha.cute pengin.

  • Thankyou for sharing, its hard to find an example of a typical apt in tokyo, most arent brave enough to attempt to video a small space. Where are you thinking of moving to? another location in tokyo? what district? along the yamanote line again?

  • Berlin - Esque ! - LOL

  • Is housing like very expensive or something? Can you buy a decent house making 50 grand a year?

  • Short answer is no. Long answer if you add another 0 to that figure then yes maybe in the outskirts of tokyo.

  • O.O wow... small

  • ni shi mei guo ren. lmao. you speak chinese as well?

  • and chi9nese invasion book lol

  • funny penguin

  • I challenge you to become a Super Golden Legend!!!

  • do have any usefull tips on how to find a apartment and such because i have no clue how you orginised it or sorta like preparation.

  • I could totally live in that apartment. Looks cozy. Bet you can save on the heating bill massively. When it's hot though...that's gotta suck.

  • 8:45...I think we may see the genesis of the used panties vending machines.

  • Wow, Americans can't even tell glass from cardboard for recycling. Burnables from non-burnables???

  • You know it looks kinda cozy if you ask me.

I mean for coming to a foreign country and getting a place in a big city, its pretty cool.

  • When you're broke in Tokyo, man you are really broke.

  • lol stained underwear!

  • the garbage thing is insane that makes me mad! i would just throught it out the window that is realy stupid!!!

  • It's not so stupid. A pain of a chore, yes, but sorting out the trash probably helps out the environment in the end to some extent.

  • i want your help man finding an apartment like yours affordable rate and if its possible includes utilitys I'm moving to japan for a few months or so! my flight day is on march 4th 2009 let me know with some apartment names and addresses my flight lands in tokyo narita thanks man!

  • If your still living in this appartment you should buy a barbeque to put in you "yard".

You mentioned being broken into on the first floor, is that really a big problaem in toyko? I sort of though there was a low crime rate and stuff.

  • I don't believe you explained this. Did you bring your furniture with you from the U.S., or did you buy it all there?

  • I would love a place of that size and price. Very convenient

  • what kind of work do you do???

  • panty thief lol

  • I WANT that penguin!

  • yeah seriously , the penguin is fucking amazing.

  • I had heard that tatami was hard to clean, but why exactly?

  • 1000 yen a month seems a bit cheap....

  • 1000 yen is like.... $10...

    ?!!?!?!

  • What would you say is your favorite beer that you have had in Japan?

  • nice tour

  • i am planning on moving to tokyo in a few years, but i was wondering if you could tell me what jobs are available to a foreigner moving there. I am going to learn japanese if that helps.

  • if you're planning on going to tokyo, you're going to need to speak Japanese and write katakana. I have the options of moving to Tokyo, Seattle or New York but I chose new york. The pay for IT in new york is a lot higher, and I don't need to learn a whole new language.

  • well luckily for me, i just spent 500 dollars on rosetta stone to learn japanese ;)

  • owned

  • In a Tokyo apartment, do you have really noisy neighbors (loud music, TV, etc.) like most (all) U.S. apartments?

  • I live in Tokyo and I rent a whole house for 25,000 yen, 125 gbp, $250!! and that includes the electric, gas, sewage and water bills!!! But its a bit further out of the city, well lots further but hey its cheap.

  • well i live in tokyo and rent a 4 bedroom house for 1000 yen a month and thats in the centre of tokyo. A place called shinjuku.

  • 10 dollars a month? o.O;

  • it's really cool to see a foreigner's house in japan. especially yours ha ha. thanks for this ^^

  • Damn... now I know why you film so many videos OUTSIDE. I'd get really depressed if I had to spend day after day in there ^_^

    No offence intended.

  • its a nice and small apartment!!

how much do u pay weekly/monthly...in pounds please ^^??

  • lol~ why are you asking that?? O_o

  • he may be wanting an apartment in japan

  • o yeah~ "he" might...xDxD

  • It ^_^ They you get my point :P

  • Haha

one of the funniest people on YT.

    Your apartment looks awesome :)

I really want to live in Japan when i'm older.

Until then, i can watch your Life in Tokyo videos ^^

  • Wow. Nice apartment. Honestly, I would live there for that price. I saw another guy on here who had a similar-costing apartment that was much bigger, though. Also, I don't think it had tatami mats. Although it might've not been in Tokyo.

  • This is a funky little video. Being you, I thought you would've edited it down like MTV Cribs style!

  • did you move since this video?

  • your funny describing your backyard!....... hey virusone25...... um where do you live for that price you pay for your apartment ? probably down south!

  • Someone might break in and steal Kenji!

  • hahahaha yeh ur chinese is quite good where did u learn it? and it isnt just the basic stuff either the stuff u said is quite hard. so it that 670 per month?

  • your mandarin is pretty good.

  • Thanks for the tour of the apartment. I love the view you have outside!

  • I would like to know where you live. * A * And the cost... or did I miss that? Lol.

  • Man, in Moscow you would be able to rent such apartment starting fom 900 $ minimum, damn, Tokyo is quite cheap.....

  • My apartment (US) is twice that size, I pay $375 a month for it.

  • Life is unfair, average salary in Moscow is 700 $ or so and room renting cost even more than in Tokyo or in the US......

  • hah thats cheap i pay 1600$ A MONTH for my app in london and small

  • When you did the scene of your "backyard" I couldn't stop laughing!! Awesome video!!

  • ahahaha the penguin, gotta get me some of those and hook it up on my shower.LOL
