One questions about tatami mats: if they're hard to clean, do they tend to...stink? I was once very interested in moving to the UK but there seems to be this musty smell everywhere that I just can't stand, and I'm sure the culprit are those carpets they love so much. The ones that take up a whole room and are attached to the floor. Funky stuff!
Wow. Ive been thinking about moving to japan after i graduate high school but i dont know if i can stand the living accommodations. We have so much space here in the US that an apartment in tokyo is like a death trap. lol
heh, wo shi meiguoren, friend... wow, even your chinese is better than that of an avarage american. I suspect that you also like Chinese culture a bit, am I right? Just curious, since I am here actually to find vlbog or normal blog about China but I guess there aren't many since youtube is banned, so I have started watching your Tokyo videos as a substitute to China vblog. I used to live in China, so I got hooked
People complained that my apartment was messy, and yours was showing up as a related video, so I came here to compare, and .. 安心した。 We're all messy with limited space. Way to build your own counter--that was super manly. 6.7man? That's not TOO bad.. I had this image that Tokyo apartments were like 10manen
Shawshank Redemption, that's funny! I found your channel after Jason mentioned it. The J-vlogs have gotten me interested in JET. The more I see it, the more fun it looks... :)
I am with you why live in the boonies well I lived in La and was sluming and what do you know I could not get work in La proper nearest job was Orange Co, I lived in the city to drive an hour no traffic 3 with. I think we should all have shipping container homes that can be slid into place in an area near where we work to slice the commutes down, If we did this imagine the energy we could save. You get transferred slide your apt out set it on a truck train boat and back into another stack.
@cdltpx If you want to be a badass and have mucho space have 4 containers and when you move you have 4 or 2 trucks (doubles) IDK what you think you ever see shipping container apartments constructed look on yt you will see if you inquire.
I like this guy and his videos...he has my odd sense of humor. He tells it like it is instead of pretending and hiding the bad like so many tourism shows/vids.
I kinda like the thought of living in a small home... but to pay $600 for it is insane to me. I guess I could try and find a couple of sane room mates. Hmm. Anyways, love the funny bits of course. I really like that picture hanging in your bedroom/living room from back then when you use to live there just try and stop this sentence. *quick smile* Onward to ze nex video.
@natalie1605 I think paying that much for an apartment is a bit crazy though I do know the cost of living there in Japan is high. My mom pays less than $500 for our three bedroom one bath home. So I am most definetely not for a one bedroom apartment. Thanks for replying because I just might try watching the rest of the Life In Tokyo videos! >.<
Why they have garbage pick up in Japan? Why not have big trash cans downstairs or in the neighborhood and everyone shorts their trash there. Besides how pick up works? You put the trash outside your door and someone picks it up, does not sound like the famous Japanese efficiency.
you are sooo funny. i like the bit about Mao and the your personalized cabinet. The tour was awesome. I noticed that many of your videos are kinda dim. They are funny, entertaining, and educational to watch, but just a suggestion, maybe you could film in better lighting?
Interesting. I live in a "regular" house, and I just dry my clothes on a line as well. It's not that bad, actually. To me, it's actually more space without a dryer, because the clothes hang. Although a dryer does rid of lint, dries quickly, and it softens the fabric and smells good if you throw in fabric softener.
thanks for posting these tremendous videos, I am an elderly guy who lives in England but who loves Japan. I have visited Tokyo three times in the last year, Many Japanese people tell me i should take a job as a conversational English teacher over there. I am not sure how to go about this. I will be back in Tokyo at the end of October, Any suggestions ?. Cheers and thanks again
Iam still going to tokyo the only problem for me is the garbage I think we Americans are just lazy so yeah I have no problems u know for drying my clothes on the line and cleaning the floors and stuff so yeah I am good and Ill carry my trusty bat to whoop the burglars asses and try to steal my underware and it will probably be the last thing they do in theirs lives before the see the devil with in me come out!!!
Hmmm... thanks for the vids! Seriously,I'm starting at number 1 and working my way up. There very informative, and I'm glad I take Japanese now. Only three to six years and I hope to move their or somewhere in Spain. ^_^ Possibly back to Germany, but I like Japan much more.

if you're planning on going to tokyo, you're going to need to speak Japanese and write katakana. I have the options of moving to Tokyo, Seattle or New York but I chose new york. The pay for IT in new york is a lot higher, and I don't need to learn a whole new language.
