  • I went on the 2 July 2011 it was a lovely glorious sunny day must have fell lucky. Although i would have like to see the Dam on a day like this.

  • @daisy74242 The Elan Valley is a wonderful place as you've discovered. I've just uploaded another video filmed last week with water cascading over three dams.

  • wow

  • I was there today but the water was low, shame would of been nice to see them in full flow.

  • U can't beat a good old swim in a reservoir

  • not a place you should ever attempt to swim

  • Wales (part of Great Britain/UK) borders England so, yes, you're quite close! The map is on the page - look to the right and you can see a Google location.

  • The Elan Valley is in Mid-Wales (UK). I'll mark it on the map for you.

  • WOW!!!!. The last time i saw the dams must have been summer 2005 or 06. it was so dry there was no water flowing over the top and the narrowest part of Carreg-Ddu was so low you could almost jump accross. Absolutely love the Elan Valley. such a great drive too.

  • Wow!

We visited the Elan Valley last weekend. The dams were in full flow! First time I had ever seen them in winter.

I only saw the first three dams. Didn't see the large one or the unfinished one.

    Nice film.

  • Thanks - If they're still in flow then I'm tempted to head up to Elan again this weekend.

The last two dams on the video are found by turning left to cross the Garreg-Ddu viaduct. The unfinished Dolymynach dam is easily missed but can be seen through the trees towards the end of Caban Coch Reservoir.

  • They've been in full flow this summer after all the rain!

  • Great film, it's always a thrilling site to see the Elan Valley Dams at full flow. To do this you usually have to visit them in winter time when the weather isn't great in that area, as seen from the video. I've only ever seen Claerwen Dam at full flow once since living in the area for 11 years.
