  • By the way, I think that the unreleased EPs by The Dreaming are incredible - the remix ones, the normal ones and the acoustic ones.... the actual released Dreaming album isn't half as good as the versions on the EPs... If you don't have those EPs, check out piratebay because that's where I got them for.

Anyone who likes Stabbing Westward would love them.

I agree that the released album isn't great, I don't know what happened, maybe it was a recording studio / management thing or something

  • Anyone calling Stabbing Westward EMO deserves to get slapped...

Stabbing Westward are one of the best bands of all time and all EMO has ever produced is a bunch of crap I wouldn't piss on...

  • Save your band cause you will NEVER be SW!!!!!!!

  • just aint the same!

  • Stabbing Westward was better! Hall, please, come back!!! =[

  • @Rutionous

    He's coming =) check TuneLab

Right now pretty much is still uncertain but i'll bet they do somethin'

PS: you can also check the wikipedia article for SW

  • I LOVED stabbing westward... and OK, the dreaming is soft rock/emo and nothing compared to them. But it still good with Chris at the helm

  • The Dreaming's best song was Let It Burn before they changed it to fit the sound of the rest of the Etched In Blood album.

I wish they had kept the sound that they had when they first started. It was not SW, but it wasas good as SW. I don't like the sound The Dreaming is going for now...not enough rock.

Their live shows are amazing....it's just that the CD sounds so cookie cutter. I liked the folk-y style they started with.

  • I have to agree with you. I was lucky enough to find out about the dreaming way back in the beginning and Diego Russo was the guitarist that made their songs sound more unique. Once Diego left, and Jinxx joined, everything on the album just sounded more generic. Brent said he hated the way the songs sounded before, like they sounded old, but I believe a lot of their earlier fans liked that sound more than their current one.

  • i love chris hall... he is a humble and cool motherfucker (respectfully speaking).

he's a cool ass rock star ... and i hope he is always around and makes as big as he wants to be.

  • At least he is still playing, what has anybody else in SW done since then. I truly loved SW, but I play in a band and things don't always work out. I am just glad that Chris didn't sink into his own world and continues to make music, he obviously loves it, that's good enough for me.

  • Mark Eliopulos is the front of house engineer at The Mutiny, a club in Chicago that I've payed a frew times. Great fellow. Also a member of Violent New Breed? I believe

Andy does jingles and theme music for shows. He's back to being a session guy.

Jim operates an Organic Food store with his wife Deborah.

Walter does podcasts and production for a few bands.

Stuart Zechman pops up now and then. Dave Suycott does a lot of commercials and themes too.

And who gives a shit about Derrick Hawkins.

  • One more comment , if people don't like the dreaming why do you even bother commenting or looking them up? If I didn't like something I wouldn't wast my time on it. Listen to the crowd. obviously people love them!

  • I love the dreaming and they put on an amazing live show. These guys play the shit out of those instruments. They put a lot of energy and effert into their shows and are always ready to talk to fans. I saw an interview with the dreaming and they love the high energy of the dreaming as opposed to the slow pace of stabbing westward! In their own words!

  • what a douche chris was cool back in the day but sorry to all you dreaming fans they suck, stabbing westward was amazing and chris voice was ten times better back in the day and the dreaming is just his cry for attention and a huge insult to do a "cover" of his own frekain song with another band thats like his spitting in his old band members faces

  • wow, couldn't be more wrong. thats your opinion and that's cool, but have you met chris? he's not a douche, he's real cool and will talk to fans while on tour. his voice on the dreaming cd sounds almost like the last stabbing record. If it doesn't, well thats what happens when you get older, you lose it a little. it's not a "cry for attention" as he started the band the day after stabbing broke up. and whats wrong with covering your own song? lots of people have said dreaming is better than sw

  • no his voice on record dosent sound bad of course he has a good voice. anyways my point is i think its kinda dumb to do a cover of your own song with a new band

just think for a minute, what if your with a new band and you do covers of old songs from your previous one wouldnt that kinda be insulting or whatever to the new band? its like whats past is past so if he is with the dreaming do dreaming songs or covers of other people songs that arent your own, and yes he is a cool guy

  • FYI, Chris isn't fond of Stabbing Westward in general. Johnny and Chris actually hated playing these songs, but most of The Dreaming's fans are fallout from Stabbing Westward and they wanted to do something for them. I never got to see SW live, so seeing them play these songs at this show was like the next best thing. The Eagles have done some of Don Henley's solo stuff live, and Audioslave covered Rage and Soundgarden stuff at times. I don't see how this is any different.

  • good point

  • Chris isn't a douche...Your right. Hes an extremely nice guy who cares about his fans. But stabbing westward is FAR better..Im not really a fan of The Dreaming...More just chris hall hehe

  • Wow. You can barely see me at the end of this video.

  • that was funny when they played this song over in az and chris told everyone that people come up to him and ask him whats with the tribute song lmao that was funny

  • I met Stabbing westward like four times back in the day. I wish they were still together but I do like the dreaming.

  • Do you know why the stabbing westward split?

  • great song!

  • What a great position. Close enough to punch him in the meat and two veg.

  • like i said i love stabbing westward and the dreaming BUt i think it doesnt sound right....

  • It doesn't sound quite the same with a different cast of characters. It is still enjoyable though.

  • I only know The Dreaming for a short time now, but SW was much more versatile. That´s why they are better and will be until the Dreaming can reach that level. I love Christophers Voice though and the Dreaming is still a good band!

  • I feel so blessed that they hit Albuquerque on their first Congress of Corruption tour. Met them all except for Jinxx who was flirting with the girls at the bar lol.

  • Is this the Whisky cd release party? check myspace slash nunomosh for more pix!

  • Amazing.

SW was fucking great and so is The Dreaming.

  • goddamn you chris hall.

just reform stabwest. the dreaming just don't hold up.

LISTEN TO THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS SINGING. THAT MEANS SOMETHING. no-one sings to dreaming shit. jeez, i mean i dig whatever hall wants to do but stabwest is the goddamn past present and future in my eyes. i love that fucking band.

  • I couldn't agree more. Stabwest is my favorite band of all time, and no other band, no matter how much I like them, could ever fill that spot. Stabwest is the band that is responsible for me starting to love music in the first place, especially industrial metal. Stabwest is forever, and they need to come back.

  • heh.. The Dreaming is my the most favourite band!!! SW was good group but The Dreaming is better. Change is life...

  • Youre wrong. Stabbin Westward is much better than The Dreaming.

Classic things are always much better

  • I agree with you. Furthermore, as a fan of both bands, I have to say that Stabbing Westward was a deeper and introspective band with darker lyrics while the Dreaming is a more commercial band ... a good one nonetheless.

  • you haven't seen the dreaming live have you?

  • they are fucking awesome live

  • i saw these guys on 3/29/08 and they kicked ass! I have seen SW numerous times and i have to be honest these guys push the bar more, there is more energy and you can tell they are zoned in together. sometimes SW shows would be bad disasters, I love SW don't get me wrong i have a tattoo. But The Dreaming is good for Chris now days because they are a DIY (do it yourself band) just them in a van driving around and more down to earth.

    just go see them live

  • @zanzibarfox

I saw Stabbing Westward live in 2002, it was an Awesome show.

  • @zanzibarfox LOL, it's not a cover if you sang the original.

  • you've got 2 guys in a band that defined a lot of genre bending music, worked with and toured with guys like Chris Vrenna, Martin Gore, Bob Rock, Trevor Hurst, Trent Reznor and Richard Patrick. and you're calling them EMO? Emo bands dont play stuff like Shame and Save Yourself. They play "buried myself alive". In my experience Emo has come to mean one simple word in all its music and 'culture'. that word is "superficial" Chris sings about real obstacles and real relationships. not dead birds.

  • @VolitionsAdvocate fuckin right cheers for ungod to darkest days and pretty hate machine to downward possibly fragile well fuck it even new shit beats the shit outta fag rock

  • @VolitionsAdvocate fuck it and if i was to get noticed thats the first shit i would do is my link to real life fuck the blank minded assholes with cry to me and shit

  • Oh fucking sweet. I'd love to hear them do a studio version of this.

  • The audience was awesome.

  • ( VIDEOJUDGE01 )

    Your way off

  • chirs has always been emo...how dare anyone call chris hall anything like that chris hall doesnt fit a category ..except for ROCK GOD.. a million things can sound similar but his voice will always be unique and rare.

The dreaming rocks.. sometimes people piss me off when they dont know anything

  • he was kinda bound to be emo, but hes always been goth and i thought that was good enough since i dont really like the emo culture, but who cares wuts good enough for me or wutever at least hes a different kind of emo and he's actually starting to make the whole emo thing sound a bit better. and chris is the man so he does wutever the hell he wants

  • man these guys sounded a LOT better live when Chris was in Stabbing Westward. i'm going to miss that old band. i'm sorry but the dreaming isnt really all that good. plus y did chris hav to turn emo? i always thought of him as a well-understandable guy, especially when i heard his old band's self-titled album

  • videojudge I agree, he was better in Stabbing Westward but he was originally ahead of the times with his style musically and personally. Since The Dreaming he seems to have fallin into the trends with the way he looks but, the only Dreaming song I think is amazing is "Beautiful". Sounds alot like Stabbing Westward, The video is on youtube check it out.

  • yea i saw that. the song is ok, but i didnt really like the video. it was so unoriginal

  • Very true

  • the video for the song save yourself follows the artwork of the darkest days album which in itself is pretty original. so maybe you should look at the album and you'll understand the idea behind the video.

  • Dave McKean did the artwork for Darkest Days. Give credit where it's due.

  • Fuck yes Was chris's mike like super quite?

  • OH MY FUCKING GAWD YESS !!!!!!!
