  • Absolutely haunting.

  • @IslandersFan667 grand island high school?

  • One of Pam's best songs ever! I love it!

  • This is a wonderful song!

  • This song means so much to me because this song IS me.

  • For this reason a man will leave his father and mother

and be united to his wife,

and the two will become one flesh."

    This is a profound mystery--

  • EXCELLENT...

  • in my opinion one of the greatest country songs ever recorded. I love this song

  • wow this is one of the best video on you tube

  • she is so fine

  • I've seen this video in different formats, I like this one best, it's the indian storytelling that makes it perfect.

  • What a great song!.. I miss the 90's a little bit lol

  • This video/song gives me chills. I was around 9 when we first got satellite TV. I dreamed about this song one night, and I saw the video. The crazy part about the whole thing is that I had never seen the video. I dreamed what it was before I actually saw it. That has to be one of the weirdest things that's ever happened to me.

  • Just brilliant, what a great lady and a beautiful voice, this song always puts me in a better mood usually becoz I remember good things in the past, makes you think of how life pans out and if i got to a crossroads, id luv to head the right path with Pam!

  • my all-time favorite Pam song! she's got an amazing voice and she's my all-time favorite country singer. this song has special meaning to me. it's really cliche, but it reminds me of one of my past relationships. we were the boy and the girl in the song right down to the very last word. I get a chill every time I hear the bridge. it takes me back to those days.

  • This is a beatiful song and I especailly like what she does with her voice at 3:26.....Life is short....but its long enough....search for yourself and the answers....the road to glory or ruin its your choice....choose wisely..

  • Love the multiple harmonies in it! Pam hit #8 in Billboard, 5-11-96. God bless ya, Miss Pam. Hugs to ya!

  • truely one of Pam's best.

  • A most beautiful song, beautiful voice, great video, sung by the most beautiful singer.

  • nice video- does any one here have a copy of the beautiful song Calico Plains?

  • Nothing in this world happens by accident, it goes the way it goes, once we stop being self seeking, and seek the eternal, we begin to fulfill our purpose. Once they both have traveled enough life on their own they realize what's important. Gratitude, for who they are and a willingness to see life through Gods eyes, they realize how short life is, and how precious it is to spend it with the one they love, they give up their own desires to fulfill their destiny. This song touched my soul.

  • Some of us take the easy road, even though it appears to be smooth and flowing, there are many turns, and the turns are never what or where we think they should be, there is a wild child inside of us all, with a lot of spirit, but the journey wears us down, then the realization of life and the appreciation of it hits us, we thought we had life in the palm of our hand, it's a love story when their paths cross again, but they had to go their own way, they had to travel their own Red Road, to life

  • that pam baby robert dobbins

  • gerry house thanx 4 everything

  • gerry house, mornings willnever be the same again

  • i miss my mom

  • I spent some time growing up in the small town in British Columbia where the video was produced and it brings back a lot of memories for me.

  • this is and always has been my X husband and I, we didnt make it, but sometimes we meet up in the mountains

  • Thinking back tonight on the journey I've had with my husband. This song came out when we were in the Army and separated by about 500 miles. I truly felt like "the river and the highway". We didn't know if we were going to make it and during that time there was not a lot of attention on support of military families. Happy to say we made it. It will be 16 years and 2 kids later this coming March. Thanks for posting.

  • One of the most beautiful country songs ever. But you really can't go wrong with anything by Pam.

  • My compliments to Pam on this Recording, The music and Lyrics go together so well along with the Video. Thanks, Pam..... Larry Gant

  • love singing along toher song

  • OMG IM A BOY N I THINK ITS BETIFUL sorry cant spell lol

  • So Pam's singing in this song is the perfect enhancement for the lyrical message that not all of us were necessarily meant to be together or stay together. "Heaven knows she can't go with him............fair thee well".

  • Her voice is crystal in this piece. Her song lyric "fair thee well" at the end of the song is very melancholy. What a performance.

  • thank you for posting this video i have not seen it in forever...forgot how much i loved it.....

  • i love this song <3

  • Her best song, and one of my favorite country songs of all time!

  • Stupid Youtube... Sorry!

  • One Body, One Mind, One Spirit.. Fare Thee Well...

  • Such a beautiful song :-)

  • I dearly love my Native American heritage!

  • Love this song, never saw the video before however, I liked the end. I wish our popular culture was as reverent to living as they are.

  • Got to see Pam Tillis @ Worlds of Fun in Kansas City years ago, she sounds just as good live. Great performer. Great song......

  • I'm actually doing this song for a talent show at my local county fair this year. I love the older country music (late 80's early 90's what I grew up with) and Pam is one of my favs

  • @sarahec326 howd ur talent show go hope it went well this is sutch a beautiful song

  • @chibyvampire3 I actually had changed my mind due to the fact that this song reminds me of a break up and also, my talent show doesn't come around until Sept.1 2010...yes it is a beautiful song but it doesn't fit me at this point in my life

  • what a beautiful and haunting song and video.....I remember when it was new and its still amazing to me ....timeless

  • To My Ex wife

  • I miss Pam.. I miss the real country music I grew up on. =(

  • A wonderful song written by a legendary air personality (WSIX/Nashville morning drive star Gerry House), and sung by a gorgeous lady with an equally gorgeous voice.

Her 2007 CD entitled 'Rhinestoned' is absolutely phenomenal.

  • wow pam telis has such a beautiful voice and she my favorite cmt superstar what ever happen to her

  • Great song. I love Pam, she's still beautiful.

  • This is one of the songs I grew up listening to, since my dad has the CD and used to play it in the car all the time.

  • The old Indian looks hauntinley like my father, he died in '93, I learned alot from him, tho' I thought it was nonsense 30yrs. ago.

  • meet you at the River as always forever, i smile and love 0

  • I first listened to Pam becuz I liked Mel's music so much but this song convinced me that she is a great artist in her own right.

  • I love this songs it's kind of like me great song and video.. Lilyfrogs15

  • beautiful video!i love this song by pam tillis and the video makes the song even better!thank you for posting this .

  • Thanks for posting! Great vid.

  • !985 Nebraska, they would never show us classic 90's country music videos. It would be too country for us instead they show us and force feed us the f--k--g pop country crap that is on the radio and TV these years and days.

  • ParisDani is right about the message in this song and video. They are also native Canadian actors in this video. Pam is also celebrating and showing us her Native American Heritage in this song and video. Pam's mother is a full blooded Cherokee woman.

  • what are the chords to this?

or the tab if anyone has it...

  • Where was this Filmed at? What Nation were the people in it part of?

  • Around Vancouver BC. From Stanley park to up the Sea to Sky Highway and the nation I believe is the Squamish FN.

  • @Arcadiaredneck The young actor in the video is Michael Obey of the Payepot Cree Nation. He was a regular cast memberin the canadian TV series, North Of Sixty.

  • God I feel old when I see videos like this, but the 90's ROCKED!

  • this song by pam is absolutely beautiful, my fave

  • I like these classic 90s country music videos.

I wish that CMT and GAC would air more classic country music videos of any country artists.

  • Yea, great song. Pam was turning out the hits in the 90's. Got to see her in concert. Great show too. Interesting screen name. I'm from Nebraska & graduated in "85". Wierd??

  • I just wanted to say thank you for uploading this. I've been trying to show a good friend this video for years and coudln't find it anywhere. It's been a good 10 years since I've seen it myself. So, thank you. :)

  • the woman i know is a river, free and wild inside her soul, God's child crying out for freedom.

  • For Mark... Im sorry

  • What a beautiful song -what a message. I like the Native American elements in this. For me, it can have more than one meaning. The elder is telling them that maturity is what it takes for a man and woman to go on together. Perhaps it's also a reference to the land and the water connecting with each other but they are separate. As we know, Native Americans have always said the land is what should be protected . I like to mull all of this over every time I watch this video. Thank you. - Paula

  • @PaulinaRena very astute observation. i love watching this video too

  • For wendy...be my river, I'll be your highway.

  • this song is a beautiful clasic about the river one woman and the high way one man a truck driver croses the same road where two point meet on one path . when I heard this song on the cmt channel I was in high school . definte 5 stars .

  • Pam seems to have a real appreciation for all the unique and different cultures in the world. Just look at her music videos! This one has a Native American setting, "Mi Vida Loca (My Crazy Life)" had a Mexican setting, and "Cleopatra, Queen of Denial" had an Egyptian setting. What's next?

  • Fantastic music.Have to look for her CD's and DVD's.

  • When i hear the melody I think of this one song...its sung by a man. I dont know if this song is a remake of the one im thinking of...

  • What ever happened to this awesome lady. haven't heard anything from her???

  • Very beautiful song and voice. The token "native american" elements thrown in leave a slightly unpleasant taste to me. Since there's really little connetion to the lyrics it looks a bit like they are pasted on to make the whole thing look meaningful.

  • What native don't have jobs that keep them away from their families, and it doesn't cause problems in their relationships?

  • Does anybody know what happen to this actor "Michael Obey" oh i wonder about him sometimes,

  • Michael Obey ranches buffalo on his reserve and biulds cellphone towers all over western canada. He has stopped acting, but produces the occassional short film.

  • I finally understand this song. When I was young I used to listen to it but I didn't really get the message. Now it's even more beautiful!

  • you have a beautiful voice and you sing like an angel . I think your video is wonderful and I thank you for singing it merry christmas and happy new year

  • a beautiful song

  • This is the most beautiful video I have ever seen, one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard, and it's sung by one of the most, baeutiful woman in the business.

I have seen her in concert many times and her dad at least once. If shes in your town you must see her in concert. She's the best!

  • Always loved this song...I'm just so proud to see my backyard in this video! Yeah B.C.!!!

  • I love this song, as i believe it's about a very unique thing. UNCONDITIONAL love. It doesn't matter where they go, or what they do, they love each other. Without condition. May each and every person listening to this song, find that one day. Take care. Chris

  • For those interested, its about how two completely different people can love each other, you know, opposites attract. She's a river, he's a highway, where she goes time will tell, he ends just where it says to on the map. Every now and then he offers her a shoulder, every now and she overflows, and sometimes a bridge crosses over. its all about the differences between lovers. adjust to it.

  • i think its about being strong through the obstacles in which life brings, and doing what it takes to be with the one you love.

  • this is a beautiful song, i think it would make a great song for military families, more so military lovers.

  • merci pour la superbe vidéo

  • I think it's a song about star crossed lovers. ^_^ Kind of like Romeo and Juliet.

  • maybe its about a relationship btween a man and underage girl im underage and can very much relate to this ssong

  • Lovely song. Thankyou for the share Rob. 5***** Be blessed....Diane.

  • Beautiful song! :)

  • very nice song.

  • goes both ways. sorry you got problems with that. maybe you should map out a bridge somewhere.

  • Thanks for posting this, I love this song & video!!!

  • I see a different message. Two people with opposite personalities trying to mesh. I'm a river and my husband is a highway. I'm open and flexable, he ends where it says to on the map. But, we love each other.

  • For me, it's both.

  • 9 years ago i first heard this song. With melissa my heart and my love. And she said do you think this will be us someday? And i said no no way, we will grow old hand in hand. 6 years of love hate tears, and thinking she was my whole world life will never go on. Fights hugs you know... i met her in 1999 we parted in 1006, i met a new girl in 2008 and in love again. it took awhile, and i think of her everyday tho... never the same., I love my woman now and would never go back.

  • I now understand the song, I saw the vid on today's MASTER SERISE on GAC.

    Love this song now.

    I miss hearin' Pam's songs.

  • As a trucker this video just reminds me of home life.. every once in awhile I get to make it home..and my wife has to continue on without me being there. This song is definatley a tear jerker for me, but you have to love it. Ms. Tillis has the voice of an angel!

  • Are you familiar with Kathy Mattea's "18 Wheels and a Dozen Roses"? I think you will also like that one.

  • oh yeah.. another one, but this one really gets to me

  • I agree with you. My husband drives truck and is gone two weeks at a time and this song means so much.

  • I became a Pam Tillis fan back in 1998. I would work the graveyard shift and the radio was always on a country station. Well, they would play uninterrupted music all night. I was familiar with country artists, but it was the various songs from Pam including this one that made me a fan.

  • An absolute awesome video by Pam. Is my favorite video and song by her.

  • Nice video, brings back good memories of the 90's when country music videos weren't so jaded as they are now days...oh to go back to those good days....

  • I really need to see more Pam Tillis music videos. I can only buy the odd CD now and then, not much available in South Africa.

  • Heh... that's why I've become addicted to YouTube.

    *sigh*

  • I saw Pam on the All of This Love tour in February 1996 at the Greenwood Civic Center in South Carolina. Collin Raye and Jeff Carson opened. She put on a good show. Did anyone else see her around this time? Please post if you did. Thanks.

  • I love this song.

  • An awesome video about relationships!!!!!! A fantastic song by Pam Tillis
