Please can you tell me if the sheet music is available for this song, alone or in a compilation? I learned to sing it but would like to try and play it too! Trying to get prog sheet music is hopeless, they sell everything but that. I can't find CK Epitaph either!
I saw THE STRAWBS in the 70's ..... i was waiting for the choral choir mellotron at the end of THE WINTER LONG... and low and behold to my horror.. the mellotron cut out and he finished it on a rhodes piano... talk about BUMMED. I owned a mellotron M-400 I got from Peter Rochon , and picked it up as they were doing the first SAGA album, had to pick it up in the studio... tapes were trashed n scratchy... ended up selling it for $900.. I paid $1500.... it was mint physically, now worth $8k darn
.....I sold a Chamberlain for 4k five years ago and received a call a few weeks later from the purchaser who had taken it apart for cleaning and found the name B. Eno on some parts.....he got 20k for the same unit....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Sorry I didn't explain in the last post only the first part like I said the second is the Eminor with G at the top to Bminor with F# at top then C with E at top to B with octave sus4th resolving to the Bmajor. It's a little hard to actually hear what you play but I tried to see your finger positions. Also the sound is a little different than my old 'tron maybe you do play correctly but the volume of some tapes are different.
Thanks for your post Blue, was good to read what you said. I must admit, when I played that, I was aware that it wasn't technically spot-on, but I was just aiming more for an overall 'flavour' of it really. On your tron, was the sound you used on this 'Mixed Brass B'? That's what this tape is (I was under the impression that this was the sound used) but I'm not 100% sure - and as I've often thought, it's a great sound but can be a bit 'unwieldy' in terms of getting the best out of it, I find!

That is Hero and Heroine (female hero not the drug).

New World is one good Strawbs song. You should try Hero and Heroin(the song). The song that that introduced me to the Strawbs. Have the CD too.
