  • @joeyisfunny actually there were 5 spotters.

  • This proves to me that "spotter" isnt always helpful

  • What the weight there?

  • @Naturalhit i think 981lbs, it was 980 something though

  • Easy weight lets do it.... LMFAO! Seriously though bad choice of words lol...

  • 35 spotters and they couldnt catch the drop. Nice.

  • @joeyisfunny do be honest the spotters are only there if he needs help coming back up, its really up to him if he can lift the wieght enough for them to catch it

  • lol "Easy weight let's do it! CRASH!"

  • shitty spotters.

  • is the bar ok?

  • press 5 repeatedly

  • i think his angle broke

  • the wraps give you a false sense of strength. the knee wraps and suit can squat the weight his body couldnt

  • @ironoxen Go stab yourself.

  • @ironoxen Try this: next time you don't know shit, don't write anything. You'll look less retarded.

  • bet that guy on the right got his arm broke.. shitty

  • @TalkPwnTV are u fucking retarded? thats ed coan

    hes a powerlifting icon

    he messed up

he could easily handle this weight considering this was his first attempt he made a mistake

  • @TalkPwnTV what has that got to do with his ego? That is his career to do the best he can and win dumbass.

  • that's gotta hurt.

  • "Easy weight let's do it"

  • @bananiolo2 he said easy win.. not weight fucking idiot

  • @imsofreakingcooldude He said "easy weight", you dumb fuck.

  • @tempac91 pretty sure he said win..

  • BRB training for years for something silly with no worldly consequence.

  • Wow, good thing is no one was hit by those falling weights, that could easily make anyone's foot a 2-D.

  • my point is : that im just a little faggot

  • Comment removed

  • @swaapo whats your point '?... your comment makes no sense

  • Why do they even bother with spotters? I'm not into powerlifting at all, and this may sound like a "why do they fight over that one ball, can't they have one each" question, but why don't they use powercages, or at least bar catchers? If the bar hit the catcher, you're beyond the point of no return anyway so you won't get any dabbing.

  • This always happens when they go down.

  • What damage did he suffer here.

  • that happened to me before, and trust me it is not fun at all

  • ohh nooooooo'es

    eeeeeddddd

  • all the guys standingaround and no one caught the weight

  • anybody know how much he was trying?

  • YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

  • ...

  • ...

  • I've always felt that competitive squatting should be done in some kind of reinforced cage to prevent things like this. What is a spotter really supposed to do with weight of this kind....catch it?? Yeah, right.

  • Yeah, I've never understood why they don't simply have people squat in a power rack with the cross bars set half a foot below the lowest point the bar drops during the lift. It would catch the bar completely and prevent people from getting caught under the bar in situations like this.

  • @Ludichris8531 good point

  • ...

  • Ed Coan and Bill Kazmaier are the undisputed kings of Strength...

  • ...

  • that looks like it fucking hurts goddamnit

  • ...

  • Comment removed

  • yep ed coan is the man, i see a lot of dumb ass comments from dumbfucks who are probably pencilnecks sitting behind a pc!!!!!!

  • ...

  • u2bmetub - I bet "Death Squat" guy can lift more then you - don't be an idiot!

  • ...

  • @steroidsR4losers you are a cunt

  • @arniemonkey People like him never understand that bodybuilding is about looking freaky, and steroids help bodybuilders with that..powerlifting is about strength (natural OR unnatural), and steroids help powerlifters with that. I hope "steroids r4losers" sees this: steroids will always be used and his effort to reverse that is a matter of not if nor when, but a matter of a waster of time on his part..

  • You don't know shit bitch. You can't even squat a q-tip, assclown

  • used to much weight thats the hole idea r u fucken serious u know fuck all about powerlifting coz things like this happen man u know fuck all fuck off back to playing tennis

  • Ed Coan has the best strength to weight ratio of any powerlifter. Some asshole commented that he was trying to get attention by lifting more weight than he can handle. WTF! This is not some idiot in the gym showing off for his buddies. This is competition powerlifting when limits are pushed and exceeded. Yes, injuries are a risk. It doesn't mean he's stupid. That's the nature of the sport. Why don't you educate yourself and go train, dumbfuck!

  • @hulkout666

True. Both he Franco Columbu were strongest for their size. But Coan exceeded even the larger guys. He was just more stocky than even Franco. By the way, I used to follow both of them a long time ago. Who is the best weight/ratio power lifter today?

  • bye bye knee!!!

  • spotter cant do shit

  • damn lets giv it up for the spotters... good job

  • What...

  • wow, be quiet noob you have no idea who ed coan is

  • hahaha, wow you're giving advice to the greatest powerlifter of all time? Eddie hit more weight than this before, he INJURED himself here, it's not like he was some retard trying to much. Injuries can happen during warm ups and serious lifters know that.

  • I hope that was sarcasm...

  • Wow, you clearly have no knowledge of the world of powerlifting if you just called Ed Coan a moron. haha he's arguable the best powerlifter of all time, also it says in the description that it was his first attempt, so I'm pretty sure he could handle it...

  • Had he just failed and not being able to lift the weight, the spotters obivously would have catched it. But now it was all over in a fraction of a second...

  • ok you try and catch it

  • Whats the point having so many spotters there if they don't even stop the weight, they didnt even come close.

  • the spotters are there to prevent the weight from falling on the lifter or others not to simply catch it at all costs...

ed simply fell forward and the weight drops from like 2-3 feet in the air, impossible to catch and as you can see, nobody is in danger of being crushed by the weight...

  • so what i mean is, the weight was very close to the ground and at that point, the spotters are there to catch it if they can, but i guarantee if the weight collapsed on Coan from that height, the spotters would have it off of him in a second...

    also remember, his knee out...

had Coan not blew his knee out and said, "help" or "take it", they would have caught that weight

so, the spotters do more than just catch weights, they remove it if someone is bound by it...

    hope that helps

  • the spottes are for when he stop lifting the weight up and start going down. Not for accidents like this.

  • uuuuuu

    eso si que dolio....

    ssssss

  • haha easy weight my ass

  • wow hes a beast just for picking this up

  • Do relatively heavy weight for 30 - 100 reps then do twice to thrice your body weight in 1 rep than you did in 100 rep!

  • Worst spotters ive ever seen there were like 5 of them and the weight still fell............wow

  • He wasn't really weightlifting, he was powerlifting.

  • Yeah, Ed Coan is an idiot. He's only the powerlifting equivalent to Michael Jordan and is arguably the greatest powerlifter that has ever lived.

Too bad YouTube doesn't require some kind of IQ test in order to make an account. Then again, I'm sure half the people wouldn't be registered.

  • It's at competition, you do only one rep. And it's powerlifting. Coan is propably the best powerlifter ever, so stfu.

  • Learn more about a sport before making such a comment. I would be willing to bet you'd watch a baseball game and say "man if that guy wasn't 200% sure he would hit the ball then he shouldn't have stepped up to the plate" In competitive sports, sometimes even the greatest athletes attempt something and fail. Injuries occur at every level of every type of physical competition.

  • i did the same thing yesterday while i tried to pick up a bag of cement.

this has happened to me 7 times now and my surgeon says he can't do anything. does anyone have any tips?

  • lolol, youtube is probably not the place to be asking for advice like that

  • Lift with your legs and not with your back, but if your legs are the problem then contact a new physician.

  • ouch.

  • Wow that's a shame.

  • Omg. That reminds me of when I broke my ankle (except I wasn't lifting weights). But the loud "crack" sound was awful. It's bloody painful, I know that much. =o*

  • OMG, that looked painful..... scary injury.

  • lol all those spotters and no one did shit

  • well they can't really spot him if he drops like that you got to think man he dropped really fast if they would have tried to save him they would of just either hurt them selves or hurt him

  • LOL..good one.

  • Why no low catch rack in powerlifting to catch the bar in situations like this?

  • They dont do that very often in competition. I dont know why. You kind of have to rely on ppl you dont know for spot you! Kinda scary!

  • The thing is, people can't cath 1000lbs when it comes crashing down.

  • how the fuck r 2 spotters going 2 respond to that it can do more damage than good 2 both the squatter and spotters, how 2 people going 2 catch nearly half a ton,get the fuck outa the way

  • idiot not the guys should catch the bar, there should be two low safty bars installed in a box to catch in situations like this. That's what Musk1e said. gosh are you stupid

  • r u fukin stupid, i was replying on afgmuscl3 comment about the spotters, and i agree with musk1e,so get ur facts straight,GOSH ARE YOU STUPID

  • gosh are you stupid again

  • "oh fuck" hahaha

  • gruesome

  • Seriousily the spotters should pay more attention. They are there to be ready to respond in circumstances like this. Ok they probably didnt expect his knee to blow out but look at the guys on coan's left hand side. When the weight falls they jump back??

  • Ok they are there if he falls foward, gets stuck, etc. When the weight just falls straight down like that without him there, there isn't much to do. They can't catch the shit. It was well over 1,000 pounds. All they would do is get hurt.

  • Easy weight lets do it!! xD

  • I'm scared to squat now!

  • dont be

  • don't be, its such a great exercise IF YOU DO IT PROPERLY ! keep your back straight, look straight ahead, lock your knees, and have a competent spotter if you go heavy

  • Oh fuck

  • That was nasty It hurts to watch,

Ed Coan Is legendary. He is the Wayne Gretzky of Powerligting. He was king and unbeatable. Drugs, no drugs, equipment, no equipment no one could touch him

  • The guys that announce this stuff are a bunch of fucking putzs. Easy weight. What a homo. Ed was awesome

  • "Easy weight" is a form of encouragement. He's telling Ed, "C'mon, this is easy weight for you!"

  • BULLSHiT!

  • Ohhh FUUUUUCK!!!

  • WOW THATS SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • snapping knee blowout

  • probably the best ever..guy was deadlifting 900@220

  • ouch! Still the strongest pound for pound guy ever!

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!

  • Does anyone know roughly how much that was?

  • That was a lot of pain.

  • what the hell are the spotters for if not now?

  • unblock me chode!

  • they can't predict that his knee is going to blow out you moron

  • A podcast about an injured knee? Like I ain't got anything better to do....

  • all right, who greased the floor?

  • flmao very funny mate xD

  • Does Coan still compete or was he banned for life for that drug test that came up positive?

  • he competed last fall

  • thats all for tan knee

  • Kids, this is what happens when you simultaneously compete in Riverdance and Powerlifting - you just CANNOT squat properly in tap shoes.

  • easy weight lol

  • knees (shiver).

  • drugs aint got nuthin to do with it.. heavy weights does.. why do you think all POWER athletes(not powerlifters, they're strength ironically) have a shortened finite lifespan in their sport.. muscles and connective tissue tear all the time under massive snap movements like that..

  • LOL. easy weight my ass!!!!

  • oooooucchhh!!! That looks like ligament tear... his knee got real screwed

  • I bet that's going to hurt in the morning

  • Wrong drug cycle made his tendons brittle.

  • No pain no gain.. Lethal2007

  • pussy

  • "Easy weight, lets do it!"... OUCH

  • that sucks...he's still the best squatter

  • that had to hurt, damn! The spotters didnt even have time to react..

  • ahahaha....

  • idiot

  • dat is really messed up what were the spotter thinking

  • Not much a spotter can do when a guy blows his knee out. How much weight was on that bar? Atleast 900 I bet, do you really wanna catch a 900 lb bar off a guys shoulders? I didnt think so.

  • nice spot dumbasses

  • Anybody that laughs at this is a douche nozzle. Ed is a champion for coming back after that.

  • i broke both legs when i slipped with 887 squat , i can never lift again, so i know this isnt funn at all

  • did you get that on tape? Id like to see it.

  • And id like to see you run over by an 18 wheeler.

  • damn, ive always been paranoid about stuff like that when squatting heavy

  • scary stuff with that amount of weight

  • "How can any of you assholes think something like that is funny?"

    Quoted for truth.

  • How can any of you assholes think something like that is funny?

  • Respect to the man for coming back after that!!

  • fuck!

  • EEK!!!

  • Ouch !

  • yeah... that!

  • marty you twat you widh you were ed coan, you sit home and laugh at people trying to do something with their life.........good job fag

  • Thats a big HA HA HA!!! He rammed himself onto bar it be most embarrasing!!!

  • i broke my legs with 887 , so u think its funny , do u have strenght to lift this kind of weight , i bet u dont , just a little punk laughing at other misfortune
