  • I adore her shubadubadubadu :-)

  • What year was this? For a music essay :)

  • This is my third song in to listening to her for the first time and I'm enamoured. Her voice is so smooth in texture, relaxed, and it's calming. It's like you can sense that she's not in a rush. I can't really explain it.

  • @AleekahTV Rosemary Clooney wasn't bad either.

  • Best white female jazz singer of all time

  • What an arrangement, what a sound. Wow!

  • "take it slo-o-o-o-ow"

    Nothing cooler.

  • bardzo prosze:)...Z ochota zatancze przy Pani.....pomocy hihihi

  • Can I add Keely Smith to the list. Maybe not as well known but she can really swing.

  • @smthaxter Yes, Keely Smith! She had her own style too, she's great! And still alive :D

  • also check out her performance at the newport jazz fest 1958!! (worth getting for many reasons ...Thelonious Monk, Sal Salvador etc......)

  • Written by the great Louis Prima, no less.

  • That was amaizing! Wanna hear it again!!1

  • Swingin

  • Fab-u-luuuuuuus!!!

  • Anita O`Day with Russ Garcia Orchestra.Los Angeles April 2, 1958

  • LOVE IT!!! I wanna learn this song. Anita O'Day is wonderful!!!

  • I like Anita the best 'cause she was COOL

  • @snatchhog Anita's no longer with us but she'll ALWAYS be COOL!!!

  • Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Anita Oday, Rosemary Clooney, Billie Holliday, Lena Horne, Nina Simone, and many more were some of the greatest jazz singers in history, whether black or white, male or female.

  • @trippintonk dont forget sarah vaughan, dinah shore and dinah washington

  • @TheJazzStreet

You are absolutely correct. Thanks for reminding.

  • peggy lee and anita o'day are the greatest white jazz singers of all time

  • @TheJazzStreet right...and Rosemary Clooney was cool too ;)

  • @TheJazzStreet what does her race have to do with it!!??

  • @TheJazzStreet Who would be the greatest black jazz singers of all time ???

  • Ella, Billie and Louis

  • @TheJazzStreet Don't neglect Annie Ross

  • @19cassidy65 Annie Ross .... TWISTED!!! A true star in her own right. With Hendricks and Lambert ... superstars!!

  • @TheJazzStreet Perhaps the best, but Peggy couldn't do what Anita does. Peggy was a bit more commercial.

  • @TheJazzStreet annette hanshaw in the 20's

  • @TheJazzStreet

I'm convinced she is the best....never mind race.

  • @TheJazzStreet -You have that right.

  • @TheJazzStreet Only white jazz singers ever.

    AAAHAHAHA

  • @TheJazzStreet What about Keely?

  • @TheJazzStreet - One of the earliest white female jazz singers that you may appreciate -- is Annette Hanshaw. Great stylist & smooth. Way back in the 1920's and quite marvelous. I agree with your other choices -- Peggy Lee and Anita O'Day were incredible vocalists. Both were filled with the cool confidence that was jazz. I like Diana Krall & Cassandra Wilson today but they are not of this exciting style. I wonder if anyone is anymore.

  • Great recording of the 'Jezebel of Jazz', she really did have a powerful voice!

  • Thanks, Soulville!
