This is my third song in to listening to her for the first time and I'm enamoured. Her voice is so smooth in texture, relaxed, and it's calming. It's like you can sense that she's not in a rush. I can't really explain it.
Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Anita Oday, Rosemary Clooney, Billie Holliday, Lena Horne, Nina Simone, and many more were some of the greatest jazz singers in history, whether black or white, male or female.
@TheJazzStreet - One of the earliest white female jazz singers that you may appreciate -- is Annette Hanshaw. Great stylist & smooth. Way back in the 1920's and quite marvelous. I agree with your other choices -- Peggy Lee and Anita O'Day were incredible vocalists. Both were filled with the cool confidence that was jazz. I like Diana Krall & Cassandra Wilson today but they are not of this exciting style. I wonder if anyone is anymore.
I adore her shubadubadubadu :-)

@TheJazzStreet Perhaps the best, but Peggy couldn't do what Anita does. Peggy was a bit more commercial.
