  • I still don't belive I just saw that

  • Insane, the explosive strength you have to have to do something like this guy did.

  • Impressive, and no helps with lower body at all respect!

  • this is fantastic. however, overall I think the Jerk is a much better exercise.

  • I want to find out who the 1 dislike is. Lol. This shit is insane. Simply amazing.

  • just incredible. What an explosive strength.

  • this is no push press , thats incredible

  • Good lord that's impressive.

  • great! excellent performance!

  • Perfect form, and good demonstration of hip momentum.

  • this is the press!! , i can do only 75 at 77@ ahaha

  • WOW, that looked easy.

  • impressive.

  • FUCK

  • Geez, that was strict. Unreal.

  • I hope you guys realized that what you just watched, 1.5xbw military press is 1/100 millions.

  • @desolator11 If he weighs 105KG his press is 7.5KG short. I did 230lbs at 152lbs but was press specialist, front squat only 280. 1.5X body weight is quite hard but not as hard as you say. Bill March did 1.72 x his weight of 228 even stricter than this video. I don't think Bill could have snatched or jerked Berestov's lifts, Bill was press specialist. 1 of best chances to train to 1.5x pure press is to do full range weighted dips. Don't think March used them but Marvin Eder did 345 at 195

  • That is so freaking impressive. Wow. My jaw dropped. I know 500lbs has been done too but, damn.

  • @cactrotman 500 in this style? Not that I ever heard. Even Serge Reding's 502 was a layback. Kazmaier might have done 485 based on his seated 448 x 3. Savickas might be only man in world today to get close to a strict 500. Bill March at 235 did a really strict 410--at least as strict as this and that's 80 pounds more. He was 5' 8.5" If Berestov had been a one lift press specialist his other lifts would be well down from what they are and his press more than this.

  • why isnt military press a powerlifting movement for competition id love it to be!!

  • @spartan1893

It was in olympic lifting before, but got phased out.

  • @spartan1893 It actually used to be part of the olympic lifts but got phased out. lifters were leaning way back and arching their backs as far as they could to get more chest recruitment, turning it into almost a standing incline press. with the amount of weight olympic lifters use this is of course incredibly bad for the lifters back and obscenely dangerous. so its not done anymore, they stick with the jerk

  • Amazing strenth !!!!!!!!!!!

As he pressed this 150 kilo his own weight was less than 105. Is there any other athlet in the world with the same weight, which can do 150 kilo overhead press ?

  • do you realize how hard it really is to strict overhead press with no lower body push. this is insane.

  • @Randleman2 YES! that's awesome. Very strict. His push press would be well into the 200kg range.

  • @Randleman2 aand it looke3d easy

  • Holy fuck

  • I saw Dallas Cowboys Danny Noonan do a nice form push press with 375. Berestov's strict, no leg drive 330 does top that and he weighed less. He must have done more than 330. People who rave about footballers strength are overlooking those superior performances of great lifters. Barbells, not pigskins!

  • Berestov cannot play football.

  • @ptarleton

    Only niggas can.

  • @ptarleton Well they don't have that near useless mania in Russia. I'd take him as an athlete ten times out of nine over any of them. This lift could have been another 10 kilos without loss of form, a little slower, and it isn't some fake military press which was really a high incline press using a fair amount of chest contraction. Berestov don't wanna play football---it's beneath him. Lifting is more of a glory sport. One man can say he did it without others helping. Shut football down.

  • @skirts365 Danny Noonan is not a weightlifter. Berestov is a weightlifter, and an olympian at that. He should be more impressive with a barbell than a football player. Talking smack about a Noonan not being as strong as Berestov makes about as much sense as talking about Apolo Ohno being a faster skater than Berestov - it's not an interesting claim. Apolo should be faster than Berestov.

Don't give me any crap about how Russia is a superior culture because they don't have football.

  • @ptarleton Usually everyone wins at their own specialty. However, those who dislike certain sports have their reasons. We lose at so many Olympic sports because of the manic emphasis on baseball, basketball, football. Football makes millionaires out of many undeserving bums, some near illiterate. Lifters don't get so much because the market won't bear it, showing how lousy is most people's emphasis. Russia is a superior culture in some ways. Football is a beer-soaked "industry."

  • @skirts365 I don't see how literacy has any bearing what sport is better. If a man couldn't read but he had a 500 Kilo total he would still be a great weightlifter. From 1992-2004 America has won the Gold Medal Count and total Medal Count. We lost the Gold Medal Count to China in 2008 because they went to absurd lengths to win, but we still retained the total Medal Count. If football required no athleticism then you wouldn't complain about it being such a drain on American Weightlifting...

  • @ptarleton I'm happy to say no pro athlete has had a cent put into his pocket because of me, lifters can't compete if they get paid to do it. Can any footballer go into lifting & place in world top ten? No, it's been trained into them to highlight qualities unnecessary for that, which would render it hopeless. Besides, where's the lure of pay for lifting? Beer companies like to take care of these boys. Educators know how badly football overemphasis has harmed learning. Beer, beer, beer!!

  • @skirts365 I don't think footballers train very strongly a lot of the time. They just have lots of pads and a lot of weight behind huge tackles.

Though I'm not a football fan so if anybody thinks otherwise I'd love your input!

  • @skirts365 mikhail koklyaev from russia has done 3x200kg push press and 1x220kg push press.

  • @Henzzman Klokov has done 225kg push press with little leg drive

  • @skirts365 Agreed. Football players are very weak when compared to OLers and PLers.

  • @skirts365 i'm not saying that football is better, but you definitely have to factor in that football players don't train solely for strength. Football players have some pretty ridiculous strength too. They're obviously not going to be as strong as world class weightlifters, but they definitely deserve respect

  • nice video, looked pretty easy for him. I would like to know how much many Olympic level WLers are pressing these days in training.

  • I just thought I might give a nod to Zlatev, who was also a light heavy badass, though still no Vardanian.

  • I like Zlatev 2% better. His best 2 competition lifts, 183 & 225, was 3kg more than V's 405 yeas @ same meet & V could do 230 if on 2nd rather than 3rd attempt but seeing Zlatev's 225 I feel he also was good for 230. I was surprised to hear Zlatev stood 5 feet 9 and thought it would have been maybe 5' 6" since Blagoev was a 90 lifter & stood 5' 6" I assume V was shorter than 5'9" I know officially height is no factor but it sure is physiologically a factor more height@ same weight, less muscle

  • Ivanchenko pressed 178.5 kg in 1972 at 82.5 kg bodyweight. But he was an absolute beast. Berestov also made it look easy.

  • The Press done by Oly lifters in 1972 and earlier was totally different. It wasnt strict. The used their back to give an impulse to the bar.

  • Actually, Ivanchenko had a damaged vertebrae so he couldn't do any tricks, he had to press it strict, I mean really strict, like Berestov on the video. That's why his press is still the most impressive one. He even had a 160x2 kg seated press.

  • Ivanchenko was in Paris one year with Alexeev. Ivanchenko crumbled over backwards with a 380 "press" it was covered by bodybuilding and strength mags. Evidently he COULD bend back very far and that is always a cheat. Where is photo of that 160 x 2? It is said Rigert cj'd 573 at 227 but no photo or video seems to exist. Why? If these happened documentation would have been a lot easier than the lifts themselves.

  • There is an interview with Gennady Ivanchenko on chidlovski. You should check it out. It's inspiring. And I have no reason not to trust him when he says that he pressed 160x2 seated. We're talking about a weightlifting legend here.

  • I'm curious. Why is Ivanchenko a 'legend'? Is it because in winning his ONLY world championship, he defeated the up and coming David Rigert, who is universally regarded as being on the "greatest olympic weighlifter" short list? Ivanchenko is a footnote, not a legend.

The only 'legend' in the light heavyweight category is the great Yurik Vardanian. Tamio Kono doesn't count because he spread his greatness throughout three weight categories.

  • First light heavyweight to break a 500 kg total record? A record holder in press? Vardanian came in later, when press was out, so Ivanchenko is a legend in his own era, he would have been side to side with David Rigert in history if he didn't miss the 1972 olympic games, which was not his fault. Btw, Rigert fucked up at 1972 Olympics.

  • Rigert also messed up at the Moscow Olympics, as did the great Alexeev. This did not lessen the reputation of either man.

Weightlifting is full of Ivanchenkos. For example, Jim George of the US set a couple of world records back in the mid 1950's, but never came close to winning a world championship, much less being an intimidating force on the platform like Rigert or Vardanian (or Alexeev).

  • Your offhand dismissal of a man of Rigert's towering stature indicates that you have no real understanding of the history of the sport.

BTW Humberto Selvetti also set a world record in the press. I suppose he is also a legend and a better superheavy than Alexeev since Vasiliy fucked up at the 1980 Olympics.

  • I DID NOT dismissed Rigert. I just mentioned that he fucked up on 1972 Olympics (like most of USSR lifters). The man is a legend. My point was that Ivanchenko would have probably saved those Olympics if he was in. He is a great lifter and a legend in my mind and if it's not in yours that's fine. I don't want to argue about this which is obviously what you're looking for.

  • if holding the all time press record in your class and being world champion is a footnote then i would like to be a footnote

  • Another google jockey joins the affray. What does the fact that you had to 'google dat shit' tell you?

Here's a helpful hint: no one ever HAS to google the names Alexeev, Rigert, Vardanian, etc.

  • And his body weight is? Bill March remains the yardstick for comparison---72% over bodyweight and a little stricter than this. But maybe Marvin Eder was the best because he had no dianabol and did 315 x 3 at 197. Eder's "drug" of choice? Nutrition and lots of it. Deep weighted dips will help almost anyone improve their overhead press. Vinci's 250 at 123 was a layback movement not a strict press. Rigert's 436 layback was the most exaggerated press I ever, ever saw. What a technician.

  • Jeez i cant imagine trying to shift that weight overhead with a strict press.

    Sick weight.

  • Impressive!!!

  • thats my freaking deadlift lol

  • me too lol ! wtf... 150kg is insane, hes not even that big

  • oh dear needs to work on these.... weak!

    (sarcastic obviously)

  • LMAO, MY BEST PRESS IS 70K, THATS MORE THAN TWICE AS MUCH,,, GOD I EITHER REALLY SUCK OR HE IS REALLY GOOD LOl!

  • IMPRESSIVE!!

  • NICE!!!!!!!!!

  • that is seriously impressive + very fast press

  • wo none of u believe me then, fuck all your mothers then

  • believe what :D?

  • Olympic lifters don't need to train a lot for a pure press as it isn't a competitive lift. I think if it were, he'd be sending somewhat more upwards. A fairly strict lift. But don't forget in 1953 Marvin Eder was doing 315 x 3 strict at 34 pounds less than this guy. Eder also had no drugs I ever heard of. He also had tons of leg strength and wasn't an upper body specialist. Eder's 315 x 3 could have been worth 2.5kg to 5kg more than this.

  • that's pretty impressive

  • stfu faggot

  • It's pretty good, but it has nothing to do with the video, so please keep it to yourself.

  • noo

  • HOW THE HELLL

  • damn.. when this video is loading, i thought "ahhh this guy is gonna push press it". then when he did a strict press, i was like holy shit

  • wtf this is unreal.

  • I wonder how much the super heavyweights press...

  • FACK!

    no knees-jus pure arms...jesus

  • Correction: shoulders and triceps

  • no shit sherlock

  • STRONG

  • Thanks for putting this out, but do you know what happened to "The Biggest Douche"?

  • they shut his account down because someone was complaining if u want to know more PM me
