I've achieved in a none conventional way (FUCHS ODS100, ZenDrive, Ethos, all those Dumble based circuit) my own dumble sound, very close to the tone of robben ford on the track too much of his Truth record. I'm using a 1x12 mesa/boogie lonestar special combo with a les paul supreme with my RC Booster on the drive channel. Amp set at channel 2, drive switch on with the drive at 12:00 gain12:00 treb1:30 mid3:00 bass12:00 prescence all the way up master12:00.
what kind of amp is that? btw, sounds weird I know, but I feel like Ive met you before. maybe you look like someone idk. sounds great! your an awesome player
Nice to see someone else owning this pedal! and yeah the blue mod is kinda fuzzy, but imo it's the best mode for that EJ or David Gilmour sound. Nice demo Shane, the best Dumkudo demo i've seen on YT or anywhere else. By the way do you get a small volume drop in the blue mode?
hahaha you're also confused with the voice knob, i hate it because i never got around to finding my ideal setting for that, but it's kinda cool for someone who wants to control those highs and all.
I have one of these and ''lots'' of gear and boutique stuff, I do not need any kind of booster with this, it would be way over the top. He is not pushing it in this video. This is a very tight and powerfull pedal. Volume equity is at about 9 O'Clock and it escalades from there so...
Hi Shane, lovely demo. I am also after the dumble style sound. I had a zendrive but I hawked it.
I am running a 52 Re-Issue Telecaster into a 59 Bassman RI. and require more drive at lower volumes. Could you tell me how much one of these pedals is and how long they take to order / deliver from Japan. I don't understand the website.
Mr. Tenabe offers a pedal called the 'DUMKUDO' which has a stronger gain for the strat/single coil users. Mine will arrive on tuesday and I'll post a demo. Thanks for putting the Zenkudo word out there shan!
Hey man! I've been curious about the Zenkudo and Zendrive pedals, so I checked your vid out. Man, you sound great!! Very clean with a lot of great ideas. You remind me of a Robben/Jimmy Herring hybrid. Anyway, keep it up and Happy New Year!
Hi Shane, I bought both the zenkudo and the zenkudo twin custom and I love them both. It's an incredible pedal. Your demo here on youtube was my introduction to it so thank you for posting it. The zenkudo cleans up so well if you roll off the volume or dig in and it sings. It really does get that dumble sound. I love it! And I too have compared it to the zendrive but I prefer the zenkudo and I am a tone nut! Anyway, thanks again for posting your video, nice playing too! Take care
I was thinking about getting the zendrive but your demo sold me on the Zenkudo. I ordered mine two days ago and it's already completed. Toshihiko Tanabe rules! Can't wait to get mine!
yeah dude seriously. good playing. i'm so sick of hearing all these gear whores who can barely play and just play open chords and a few pentatonic riffs.
Thanks! Yep, its jus a crappy cannon mic so the sound quality leaves a bit to be desired. I had to keep rolling of the high end to keep it from overdriving the mic. same with my other video. It sounds a lot better in person with the camera not in the equasion.
Yes I have compared it to the zendrive. I think this is closer to the D sound plus it has a 3 way position that changes the led from red, blue and green. Each has an entirely different sound. I have been using one set up in the red mode for a general purpose OD for rhythm work. More videos to come but I'm getting married in 11 days and haven't had time.
Shane, I want to thank you for your efforts in letting us tone fanatics know about this overdrive pedal. My personalized Zenkudo pedal was delivered as promised in 4 days from acceptance of the order from Mr. Tanabe with a custom plate on the back with my name and date of order on it! How cool! Oh yeah, I almost forgot: it sounds fantastic. Very Dumblesque, and versatile with the 3 tone sets. It is the touch sensitivity he has achieved that is really mind blowing. Congratulations, Mr. Tanabe!
I'm MSS on the FDP. I am on the verge of ordering one based on your video demo and comments on FDP. Before I do, I wanted to ask you if the zenkudo has true bypass or not, and if not, does it suck any tone from your signal?
Kindly advise this wary player of guitars. Thanks!
Sounds a lot like EJohnson to my ears? When I say that I'm saying it sounds GREAT! I'm after that tone as well, wish I had better chops but if I can just hit one sweet note and milk all that sweet Dumble like tone out of it...I'll have a smile on my face! Great tone. Any strat demos with the same set-up?
I do have a better video that I recorded in the studio where I was working on my record. I'm just waiting for the engineer to edit it. I thought I would post this one in the meantime even though it was recorded with a canon camera. In the other video I give the pedal more of a workout and used it to demo different sounds
why is there a sting poster behind you, are you recording this in your mom's room?

Hi Shane, thanks for the demo! Have you tried the Wampler Ecstacy pedal? If so which pedal is more versatile?

Hi Rambo, I have a Tanabe DUMKUDO and the Toadworks Meat booster pedal works beautifuly with it. Check out my demo for the tone.

I'll do a demo tomorrow with a strat. I wish you could hear this through all mic'd up!
I'll do the clip thru a fender pro reverb so it will be a more common rig.

Cool pedal. Excellent tone. This guy definitely has hard core jazz roots with some really unusual blues licks, greater player!
Where do we get more information on the Zenkudo Pedals?
