I would like to point out that they are vampires and therefore beautiful to attract thier prey. Enrique was supposed to have been inspired by the vampire film Blade, but there are points there that indicate they are different vampires to the one in Blade, although the settings are quite similar. I do not think they are entwined with the Spanish or Native American legend either. I wonder what kind they got them from?
