Thanks kindly for your tribute. This has always been the MOST life-affirming movie for me, and I can never watch it without feeling joyful. And I cannot understand the persons who see "bad" things in the story: Harold and Maude were two exceptional characters. They remind of a now-deceased brilliant chemistry prof. at a university in my town who decided to wear makeup and a ballerina costume while walking around the town: eccentric but wonderfully free and smile-giving!

Bud Cort (Harold ) lived with Groucho Marx in his last days . Ruth Gordon (Maude) was close friends with Harpo Marx . I watched this film 10 times the first year it was released . I still watch it .

The writing and direction were perfect. Ruth Gordon was amazing. BUT Bud/Harold stole my dang heart. Best acting I've even witnessed and I'm a film nerd. He's adorable and realistic and so sad and funny.

I just love what you wrote in your last 2 posts, and I agree with it. Harold / Bud has completely stole my heart too. I like the adjectives you describe for his performance (heartbreaking, charming, adorable), and -sigh- he slays me too. I will always love him immensely.
