Look at the cancer survival rates AFTER diagnosis in America compared to Europe or Canada. America is way higher than Europe because they have to sit and wait months to start treatment. Now that is unreal to me. This would never happen in America and it's another perfect exmple of GOV. heathcare. Here is an article published by a British paper showing how much higher American survival rates are:
telegraph . co . uk/news/uknews/1560849/UK-cancer-survival-rate-lowest-in-Europe . html
So fucking stupid this commercial is! It doesn't matter if you don't have insurance you can never be turned away from treatment because it's ILLEGAL you dumb fucks! It's so funny when people think that if you don't have healthcare you can't go to a hospital and you just have to lay there and die HAHAHAHA. The hospital I currently work at the lazy ass unisured floks who don't have insurance get better treatment than the insured people do and they expect the nurses to wait on them hand and foot.
@washappnin by law emergency rooms can't turn away patients, but that doesn't mean the patients will get the service free of charge. you will get treated, but for some folks it will be very difficult to pay off the fee without insurance.
I bet it will bankrupt America. Just like all those other bad ideas. You know, like medicare, social security, public schools, public libraries, socialized police and fire departments, and a public highway system. Who needs that nonsense? The RIGHT way to save America is by illegally invading countries that didn't attack us.
Actually medicare and SS are already basically bankrupt. Retirees NOW can't even live off the little measley chump change from SS. SS is a great concept but the problem with it is that most the people that recieve SS have never paid a dime into it and the people that worked and paid into it their whole lives won't even see a dime of it, atleast my generation won't. And the problem with medicare is now the baby boomers are gonna overloading it won't be able to support that many seniors at once
On last thing: $313 billion = 40,000 x 7,825,000. How many of those making over a million per year are business owners? I know not all of them are, but to make a point suppose they all are. This would mean that the $313 billion is enough to pay for over 7 mill jobs that earn $40,000 per year. As the govt drains more money out of the economy, we will continue to see bad unemployment numbers. But then, the more unemployed, the more we need them. Could they actually be thinking that?
Lastly, yes Jesus said give to the poor. And this we should do. But He did not say take someone else's money and give that money to the poor. That is called stealing.
You are not paying attention -- except to FoxNews, maybe --
if it means taking 1percent more tax money from those who make a million a year or above, I say Jesus would go along with that...we are allowing GIANT CORPORATIONS TO BUY OUR CONGRESS PEOPLE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE (ok, so mainly Republicans!) and control our government. WHY ARE YOU PUTTING UP WITH THAT?
I am paying attention. The current upper tax rate is 35%. When the Bush tax cuts expire next year, it will be 39%. Let's say you are right about the 1%, so that will be 40% income tax on all money above 372,950. This totals to a $31,352 tax increase per household. That raises $313 billion per year. We are running a $1.4 trillion deficit. Where are they going to get that money? Look in the mirror. By the way, it is the Dems who are in bed bailing out big business at the expense of the little guy.
There is a misunderstanding about what insurance is. It is not getting someone else to pay my bills. It is based on a contract that I buy from a company that then promises to pay under certain circumstances. It is unreasonable to expect them to pay for something not in the contract, just as it is unreasonable for me to expect you to pay my medical bills. On the other hand, if a company refuses to pay for something covered by the policy, then they broke the contract and should be sued.
Please clarify what you mean. Policies are contracts. In the contract both parties promise something. If the company does not pay what they should they are in violation. If one buys a policy, one should make sure they get what they think they are paying for. (Its like reading the bill!)
Too bad companies can change the terms and if you don't agree, your coverage is cancelled. And health insurance isn't something you can buy with ease- especially if you have "pre-existing conditions", you might be denied by every company! Let's not forget how insurance companies will go back and find ways to cancel your coverage if you do get sick. Don't believe me? Read the article in the LA Times about Blue Cross rewarding employees who found loopholes to drop sick policyholders.
You don't think the govt won't change the rules? They constantly do by changing laws and regulations. Plus, if you buy insurance from a company that is close to bankruptcy, what kind of insurance do you think you will get? This is where the fed govt is now. 11 trillion debt + 1.4 trillion deficit. Once a public option is in place and they need to find savings, they will start looking for "loopholes" to save money and then there will be no place to go since the insurance companies will be gone.
Yes the govt. is in debt, but that's nothing new. At least if they DID try to close loopholes people will have a voice. Even if it's not as much as we want, it's far better than what we have with insurance companies. They don't have to worry about our votes at all, and their motivation is profit for themselves and their shareholders. I'm not saying the govt. is perfect, but I trust it more than Aetna or Blue Cross. Of course, we'd have a heck of a lot more $ if it weren't for these wars...
And the public option isn't there to wipe out insurance companies but compete w/ them. Public and private can compete in a lot of other sectors just fine. If Humana or United can't handle it, it's b/c they've been protected from anti-trust laws since the 40s.
So government running healthcare and having the IRS enforce it is the answer? If you think insurance companies deny alot of claims wait till you see what the government does. Most people don't know this but MEDICARE denies more claims every year than the top 5 health insurance companies combined.
And politics and power have not bred ugly monsters? People who want power over people's health so that the will continually be reelected. No thank you. There are ways to reform without giving it over to the govt.
Please America. Let's STOP putting profit, pride, and greed in front of human life. Capitalism has bred such an ugly monster in some people. Let's use our hearts and our souls to do what God (and Jesus) taught us to do. Love one another and to help each other in times of need. This is one way of a long lasting system that will help everyone prosper in the same aspect.
The best part about a Government run insurance is that if I were to fall extremely ill, I would be 100% covered. I would get all of the treatment I needed without being told "my insurance won't cover this" due to it be an "preexisting condition" or that it is "experimental" or that this is on our list of "uncovered conditions." Do you, as a human being, not agree when I say everyone has the RIGHT to live? Doesn't living REQUIRE medical care in time of need?
It's an amazing system really and I've seen so many videos out there that support their healthcare by the very people that receive. Those who oppose it are just ignorant as they haven't researched it enough. The annual household average cost is $7,900 annually. Canada, as an example, pays less than $3,000 annually and receives the same quality care as we do although it technically is ranked better as the cost is obviously not an issue as it is in America.
What about the doctors you ask? In England for example, most start at a comfortable salary at around ₤80,000 (~$160,000). They are also given incentive pay when they finally get someone to stop smoking, lose weight, or for anything that benefits the lives of that person through preventative care.
If everyone pitched in through the tax system and took their pride out of the situation, you'd be paying for me, you, your kids, and your family through taxes which in the end will be MUCH cheaper and more efficient for your family if anyone were to fall victim to a dangerous or deadly illness. Capitalism is much scarier than the Gov't. Capitalists have free reign and can do things behind close doors. The Gov't cannot and will not and they can't possibly screw this up any worse than it is.
I've been in the Canadian system and it was excellent. I cut my arm open on glass while I was hiking, went to their hospital, and was treated professionally and quickly with stitches. The cost? $0.00. I was never billed. I never paid for anything on this and who do I have to thank? The amazing tax payers of Canada. God bless them for undestanding that there shouldn't be a price tag on the sick, hurt, or dying. If someone needs help, I shouldn't need to worry about costs.
France, England, and Canada are not massivly in debt. No one pays for health insurance up front. Just through taxes. $800 Billion is WASTED annually on healthcare due to lack of information sharing (ie. MRI at one hospital because they are unable to get the MRI from another. Same goes with X-Rays, prescription tests, IV drips etc.)
To all of you ingorant Government doubtfuls. Please stop listening to YOUR brainwashed media (Ie. Rush, Hannity, Beck) as they are not professionals at healthcare reform. They are professional bull$hitters. They are paid to speak, not to understand things. Take your politics out of this and look at the humanity of the situation.
Show me what emergency room turns someone with a serious medical condition away for not having insurance. I've never seen that once. And you can fix pre-existing conditions without a trillion dollar bill that will destroy our country. That's still going to be in there BTW because the health care companies are working with Obama to protect their asses.
