The melody from the first piece was actually from Oktokaidekasimos (a.k.a. "Okto kedékasimos"), one of six short pieces from Hellenistic-period Lydia that were included in a publication from the 1800s called "Anonymi Bellermann." The author, F. Bellermann, had transcribed them from the writings of Venetus Marcianus.
@SuperMusicHero In another song, where it also sounded like bagpipes, it turned out to really be the Aulos double-pipes. I can't remember which one it was, but one of the Pugnate ones.
@tvpnbb Lol, when i've opened your comment, i was listening Chop Suey (SOAD) And strangely the first music sounds well when played within the soft riff from SOAD.
This reminds me of EB which allows you to have a Triumph after a few battles. I am not very fond of having to send my General all the way back to Roma from the Front for a Parade and a few extra influence points and leaving my armies leaderless or under the command of a Governor of a Province which is better than nothing! Unless they actually end up having a negative effect on the legion!
Yep, some of the music in Pugnate and Symphonia Panica are in EB. What I did though, was to add more of Musica Romana to the EB campaign map. If you are interested, I could upload the music mod.
Personally, I spend hours on the campaign map micro-managing everything. I spend more time on the strat map than on the actual battles. So the mod actually makes a difference for me. Oh, and I am about to mod some battle music for the Romani, from the two Gladiator soundtracks.
And about that battle music for the Romani from Gladiator you already have that in Sparta Total War , I would personnaly like to hear a battle drum and maybe for the celts a Brian Boru or ONeill s march (it s not historicall but it sounds good) + If I change my mind about modding the music I hope that I could adress to you . Cheers
You played Sparta:TW when there was EB?? I have not even heard of that mod until now, and I thought I knew most if not all of them... Well, I suppose you tried Sparta:TW before EB, because most people find they cannot play other mods after EB, or at least the non-total-conversion-ones.
As for CTDs, modding EDU and the DSM (descr_sounds_music) is fine, since just about no matter what you do, it will not cause a CTD. It is very simple, almost impossible to make a mistake (especially in the campaign music section). Any mistake will simply lead to the particular track not playing - that is all.
If you want that other music modded in, then you would probably have to show me where to find the music. Torrent sites?
Just to add: I'm not complaining here. I love what they've done with the tune. I just want to give recognition where recognition is due.

@SuperMusicHero The Greeks certainly did. Whether or not the residents of Italy had them before the Greeks arrived, I dunno - probably.

I'm in the process of making some easy recorder tabs for the flute part in the first track 'XVII'. By the way, the music is great!

I"m in the process of making guitar tabs for 'cave Carminem'

@DofS1 Is 'Cave Carminem' the first or the second track?
Eulandos 6 months ago
@Eulandos
I'm assuming the second.

@DofS1 Okay, I thought so, but I was wondering because I didn't hear any stringed instrument in it. Good luck with your tab making!

Bellissima...è incredibile come i nostri antenati componessero melodie così affascinanti e sublimi...

This ancient music is wonderful, and the pan flute works so nicely in it.

the first one doesnt sound like a panflute (IMO) it sounds more like an aulos, or a flute of some sort (also IMHO)
