  • the name of the song?

  • Great idea.. Just seen this on around the world in 80 days.

  • I can just see myself taking a sharp turn and eating gravel! lol. It's a neat bike though.

  • for $2,000-$3,600 it just isnt worth it

  • Absolutely is not a stupid idea, the stupid is the market.

  • What is the cost of this amazing, without market till 2030 weird, smart marvel???, that I want one but gives me embarrassment untill I see Paris Hilton, Chuck Norrys or 50cent with one.

  • douche bag alert

  • Silly thing is, about the time it was created I would have bought one. Unfortunately they are not for sale. Maybe just not in nz. Yikes!

  • name of the song?

  • @victortalktoomuch @victortalktoomuch The name of the artist is Hera and the song is "Feels so Good". Hera was born in Iceland and is based in New Zealand.

She also makes a guest appearance in the Yike video - she is the one getting the parking ticket.

  • i yiked my face, til i yiked it up. Now my yike doesnt recognize me anymore :(

  • This looks like the most awkward thing to ride.

  • Urban Terror

  • @squathacker haha I thought the same

  • NICE , but SHIT !

  • I know i would get laughed at for using it, but , my god, do i want one!

  • perfect to go from the train station to your work in the city, it beats parking prices and riding the bus, but the price is way too high. I wouldn't pay more than $500 for an electric bike or scooter.

  • I will ride it if I can get it for free or someone gives me it for free.

  • what this music!?

  • @muinoji /watch?v=9TAtNjdQ9fM&list=LLSwLzyuml8jnzwRAKjVM2IA&index=2&feature=plpp_video

  • @wannabevegeterian thank you!

  • え、欲しいwww

  • This is the coolest wheelchair ever!

  • 2000 dollars!! might as well buy a car...

  • @theforbiden

ok yes thats true, but are you willing to pay for gas and parking spots most of the time?

this is a wonderful money saver if you live down town!

  • Son of a mr. Bean?

  • what degrees of incline can it handle?

  • who is the singer and the song name ? Thank you in advance !

  • @monsieurly

    hera, feels so good

  • I would definitely consider this bike

  • ...But will it blend?

  • where can i get one??

  • The stupidity of some comments here is amazing. Well done to the team at Yike Bikes for producing something that has the potential to really impact lives for the better (and having fun at the same time).

  • @duckboy1960 Only the lives of those who can afford it. Almost $2000 isn't cheap. It also can't support the weight of most fat Americans. I weigh probably around 280 pounds. My mountain bike can handle my wight just fine. Seems that lots of companies are coming out with "green" electric vehicles now adays. The best eco friendly vehicle has been around for ages, the bicycle! All these fancy electric vehicles are nothing more than toys for rich people. Bikes are vehicles for the masses.

  • price...?

  • Yo quiero una!

  • There should be an Inventors Hall of Fame for Canterbury

    .

Jet boat, Martin Jet Pack, YikeBike and Richard Pearse are 4 worthy contenders I can think of.

Well done Canterbury inventors (and no doubt there are more)

  • Cool! I "Yike" it! :D

  • It's so small that whatever battery is in it would surely not last very long to the point where this device is more of a toy than a practical means of moving from A to B?

  • @Steve181 10 km is a long way for a busy downtown in cities like New york, Toronto, Vancouver, Amsterdam and what not

  • for 3000€? Motorcicle rings a bell?

  • price?

  • someone put a trollface on the rider's face, umad?

  • someone put a trollface on the rider's face

  • AWESOME!

  • nice bike. annoying video. wanted to see only the bike. not anything/anyone else & it took a while to SEE IT...

  • if your going to live in a place like new york city and you don't wanna spend money of gas you might as well just go all the way to pedaling power if you ask me

  • Name song ?

  • @Gensoogle Hera - Feels so good

  • @BusyNames Ty

  • omg want one

  • How much time does the battery last?

  • so, if you hit a small rock, there is nothing to keep you from falling on the road with your head up front.

  • So eventually this guy is going to hit something going 14mph on this thing wearing no helmet. The first thing to hit will be his head and it's not going to be pretty. Of course the commercial wouldn't be as "cool" if he wore a helmet.

  • People can talk good about this all you want but it's not as simple as it looks I mean how far can you actually travel on

This thing , does that mean you have to carry your damn charger all day and let's say it dies and of course you can cab it or take the bus but that "light " bike won't be that light carrying around all day and 15mph top speed il pass il stick to a never ending

Battery my legs ,as long as your not an out of shape person and go much faster and brake much safer

  • Range?

  • I yike looking like a weird douche.

  • cool

  • but i like that, this idea, is small, is light

  • A skateboard is cheaper, more portable, more versatile and less ridiculous.

  • @wackystu

but you will never see a CEO or president of a company skateboarding their way in to the office.

eve if they have hig end cars this will be better choice for them rather then a skaeboard!

  • @kiwali It's an uphill battle and you are doing great answering comments about the YikeBike. I ride the subways in NYC. During busy times, it's the most unpleasant experience. There's also a dangerous people there. I was verbally accosted this week for no reason! At such times I wish I had my Segway with me or a YikeBike to travel independently of public transportation and their wacky schedules.

  • @YikeBike As a NYC resident and Segway owner, I see a lot of similar comments about your Yike Bike. They compare the units to bikes, call riders lazy, say it's too expensive, etc. All while NEVER having owned nor ridden one. I commend your team for a wonderful invention. I could use it in NY, especially in lieu of overcrowded subways. I work out at the gym and don't have to pay for nor find parking. Some will just oppose things because it's the Internet. You have handled the comments perfectly.

  • Very innovator!! I like very much!!!

  • I like this, congrats on creating this new technology.

  • can you develop a yike with pedals so that you can give it a bit more of a push up a hill, or ride it when you have drained your battery?

  • @vietman90210

the inventors already had it with a pedals, but there were too few problmes, think about it, imagin you have this bike and you are peadling and sudenly you want to turn right, it will be difficult to do so because the front wheel moves. beside if theres a pedal i dont think you can fold the bike!

  • PENDEJOS APROVECHO QUE NO HABLAN ESPAÑOL PARA DECIRLE QUE SON UNOS CHUPAPOLLAS, ESTO VA PARA LOS QUE NO HABLEN ESPAÑOL

  • Great idea, but for around $4000+ and you only get 6 mile range which is about 20 mins run time makes it virtually worthless.

I would buy something like this for UNDER $1000 IF it got a flat minimum of 20 mile range.

Even if you carried a spare battery its only 12 miles.

  • This video is painfully similiar to go-peds'.

  • boring

  • I'll wait till they build a folding car.

  • @Hesam0000 hahahaha..., lol

  • hope the earthquake didnt destroy all these bikes

  • nah i dont wanna this :D

  • at it needs is a back rest :)

  • How much weight can it handle ??

  • @halcyon0830 100 kg 22 lb

  • @yikebike 100KG or 220 lbs weight limit? With that kind of restriction, you just lost 90% of the US market.

  • @yikebike 220 lbs

  • @yikebike if it can only handle 100kg or 22lb how th hell is the guy riding it becuz im dam sure he isnt 22lbs or hed be dead

  • @yahyah8 Dude, 100kg is 200 lb

  • Stupid idea. Traditional bikes are waaaaay better.

  • @Goethewrote It is not a replacement for bikes but is for those who need a portable transport solution. You can take a YikeBike on train, bus, car, ferry and never have to leave it outside.

  • @Goethewrote

trust me, once you try this, you will be in love with it!

  • Comment removed

  • @supercalifragelistik Eat shit.

  • @Goethewrote How can an intelligent person make such a stupid comment as "eat shit" or "yikebike is a stupid idea"? My original comment was made in humor to try to point out how ridiculous it is to say that the yikebike is a stupid idea. It's a very good idea for lots of people. Of course people who ride traditional bikes aren't stupid. Neither is yikebike. Get It?

  • @supercalifragelistik

honstly, it will change your feeling once you sit on it and feel the ride.

  • @Goethewrote haha get shit on kid, he's not trying to take away your shitty bike that you spend shitty amounts of money on, he's trying to make shit SERIOUS.

  • There's no way to hop a curb because the handle bars are behind you. You'd flip over. That's problem.

  • @LibertyRadical I've seen guys hop curbs on unicycles so should be able to on that with a little practice.

I think most European and north American countries have better road to curb transitions than around New Zealand where this was developed

  • How easy is it to steer, how easy is it to go uphill and downhill ??

  • @halcyon0830 Just like learning to ride a bike it takes a little practice but everyone can learn - see testing videos for up and down hill

  • good luck hitting a pot hole with that :D

  • @LeLionNoire There is a video on youtube that shows how it handles pot holes and curbs. Search for "YikeBike Testing video"

  • This shit cool and all but if you get hit by a car you getting fucked upped..Is it worth the risk?

  • that music...my ears....are....bleeding....* deathrattle *

  • Brilliantly made promo video! Love the expressions on the actor's faces as it goes past!

  • Great idea but I don't yike the price! Another video says they're £3500/€4000 which sadly means they won't find a big market.

  • I dont see the point, if anything it just adds to laziness. Get people cycling properly, less emissions for electricity, healthier population!

  • @JulietSierraUK The point is that it is a foldable compact transport device that you can take on train, car, bus and never leave outside. You can also ride it all weather without getting hot and sweaty in work clothes. If you don't need it for that then as you say a normal bike works just fine

  • @yikebike man, i wish i bought one of these instead of my scooter which is heavy as hell and doesn't really fold up.

question: whats the max distance you can travel with this thin until it runs out of battery and how long does it take to charge?

  • @Blue67impala

i have one of theses yike bikes , if you go on a medium speed you can go to 10 to 11 km on a full battery charge and the cool thing is the bike will gradualy stop when the battery is finished.

  • Yeah, peddling is fine for exercise, but who wants to smell the guy in the office who rode his bike to work... I'm all for a lazy coasters who is saving gas...

  • @JulietSierraUK Yeah, peddling is fine for exercise, but who wants to smell the guy in the office who rode his bike to work... I'm all for a lazy coasters who is saving gas...

  • @GerryKiely if u make a shower before going to work u wont smell + doesnt mean if u use the bike = sweat its all about how u ride the bike ;)

  • That´s NOT a bike

  • @ezequielfanelli A vehicle with 2 wheels..... eg motorbike

  • @ezequielfanelli

Bike is an abbreviation of bicycle as in two wheels (unicycle as in one wheel)

So this got two wheels therefore it is called bike...

  • how long it takes to recharge the yikebike?

  • @raphaelvilamiu 40 minutes

  • All hail the regular conventional BICYCLE!

  • Looks way cool, but I am thinking that 10 KM just isn't far enough for one charge.

Especially when considering the rather hefty price tag...

  • @fesoj3107 Extra battery options will be available that can be used on any YikeBike to double or triple the range

  • @fesoj3107

becaue this made for ubrban cities like london, amsterdam and such it makes sence if you live clse to work.

you can cut the traffic, gas cost and travel from home to work and work to home or what not.

you can not take this on a highway. this bike is made for short distance of ma 20 km radious.

  • i like it so :) :)

  • incomoda

  • very cool ideea

  • What's about the name of the play-back song? It's nice :D

  • @darknesstomorrow "Feels so good" by Hera

  • Nice singer :D

  • love the geometry while packing it but isn't it kind of ugly?

  • How long (kilometres) does a full battery last?

How does it work in heat or cold?

  • @ThisIsMyNamelol It lasts 10km and works in a temperature range of -10 to 40 Celcius

  • what an atrocious design.

  • @XxMalcolm I guess these things are subjective.... They YikeBike as won loads on international design awards

  • @yikebike Only because its different, not because its better.

It is an awful design, that's why the 2 minute film focuses less than 10sec on the machine clearly. The rest is just blindingly fake 'reaction' to this 'thing' whizzing by that you barely even see.

  • @dbasrus himmmm have you take time to look at the more recent videos on the site? I respectfully place more value on opinions of people that have actually seen and ridden the bike rather than only watched a 15 month old out of date promo video.

  • i loved it!

    i want one! pleaseeeeeeeeeee!

  • Mais divertido que segway!

  • Very good! It's the evolution of personal transportation. Very practical. The ideal solution for transporting people in cities and towns. Congratulations to the inventors: Once again, North America at forefront of technology. Now come the Chinese and Paraguayan copies... Muito bom! Isto é a evolução do transporte de pessoas. Muito prático. Solução ideal para o transporte de pessoas nas grandes e pequenas cidades. Agora, virão as cópias chinesas e paraguaias...

  • I like the product, but I feel nervous enough about securing a laptop in an office building. I have no idea where I could store this in any place open to human evil (basically any building open to people).

  • by the way,,, just so others know that the price tag is actualy high! BUT once you ride it for just few min and get a feel of it, you would appritiate it! that price tag does fits nicely!

  • i like no.... i love this bike i have one and i ride it every day!!! and looking forward to mak eanother purchase!!

it became a part of my life!!!!!!!!!!!! btw this is ali! :-)

  • Comment removed

  • I love the concept it would be ideal for my 3 mile commute but the price tag is mental. Could get a second hand city car for that!!! Plus, I'm only 5ft. Is it height adjustable? It doesn't look it.

  • Full-carbone, lifepo4, light and flexible..

But he has nothing of a bike, $2000 yes but $4000 No...

  • $4,000 though wtf?

  • This shit is HOT!

  • Way cool! Are any of these in the States (specifically Chicago)?

  • pretty fly

  • Nou, it cant defeat my riding on my Norco Ryde 2005, not by now when Im still strong enough

  • HAHA, those handling tests vs a bike are hilarious, the person riding the bike is the noobiest I've ever seen... doing a stoppie on a bike would slow the bike down 10x faster than that, turn radius on a bike while doing a track stand would pivot the rear wheel in place, and slalom gates can be ran at much higher speeds than a bike... Try doing a bunny hop with the YikeBike, or ride down a flight of stairs, then I'll be impressed.

  • I want one =)

  • @pulseofMaggotz1 "Feels so good" by Hera

  • @fercalamari01 There is a YouTube video shows braking and going over bumps no problem - search for "YikeBike Testing"

  • yeah, riding on y Yamaha bike and seeing this thing rool would make me realy jelous...

  • WANT

  • lol just saw it a story on this on Discovery channel, hope it takes off

0:25 the guy in the car is actually the inventor

  • Why does everyone want to re-invent the wheel or bike, in this case? This is absolutely not safe. What happens when you have to brake quickly? I don't think that holding on to the handles will keep you on the bike. You'd fly face first into any car that's ahead of you. Do you have a seat belt or do you have to wear velcro pants?

  • @Nomoreidsleft There is a YouTube video shows show safe and stable the YikeBike is - search for "YikeBike Testing". Check out ten reasons the YikeBike is safer than a normal bike on our blog

If people didn't want to re-invent the bike we would still be riding old style penny-farthings......

  • @yikebike But, your Test #8 shows what would happen if you had to brake quickly. As slow speed, you'd be thrown off and can stand up. But at higher speed, you may hurt your ankle or even fly into the vehicle in front of you. As for the penny farthing, isn't the yike bike the same design except smaller and you sit in the front of the handle bars? IMHO, I think the major flaw is the lack of frontal protection for the rider.

  • @Nomoreidsleft Thanks for taking time to have a look. The only way you come off the front is if you are already leaning forward. The other brake tests are at full speed which is 25km/h - no faster than you can run.

On a normal bike if you hit something this often accelerates your head forward over the handle bars. Having your crotch run into the steering beam is hardly a crumple zone designed in safety heaven..... It may feel safer but you'd be surprised how good it feels riding like this.

  • @yikebike Instead you've come up with a new style penny-farthing!

  • @Nomoreidsleft

the bike has changed very little since it's invention, and with the advent of the green movement and an increased push to exercise, reinventing the bike could be a huge breakthrough.

  • Gostei da idéia,...mas no brasil precisamos de um modelo com suspensão devido os buracos,...

  • I think this looks pretty darn good, pitty i live so far from the city, i think it may need greater distance, but at 10kgs its pretty light, i would love to use this if i lived in the city.

  • * € 2,635 Euros excl. shipping, duty and taxes. * £2,255 excl. shipping, taxes and duty. * approx. USD $3,425 excl. shipping, taxes and duty.

These are the real prices according with the yikebike site

  • @theDog99942 * € 2,635 Euros excl. shipping, duty and taxes. * £2,255 excl. shipping, taxes and duty. * approx. USD $3,425 excl. shipping, taxes and duty.

  • Absolutely good--more changes will make it very user friendly in the future.

  • I saw this on ZingDash.com the other day!

  • @BrianBeukers199 What's wrong with being lazy? Sounds to me like you don't know how to relax but then, there's no rest for the wicked....now is there?

Man, that took a lot out of me! I'm gonna relax for a while now. zzzzz

  • that looks like mr. bean.

  • Hey, don't assume people NOT riding bikes are lazy. I used to judge like that as well when I was an avid cyclist. Then cancer wrecked my leg and now I ride a Honda scooter.

    You don't know everyones story.

    Bikes are awesome though. :)

    Peace.

  • May be a cool idea.. but the riders posture looks rather uncomfortable. Quick stops may be an issue as well...Can't imagine being on it for long. I'll stick to my scooter!
